The gentleman that came to fix my door showed up ready to work dressed up like he was prepared for a night out on the town, studded up in fancy cowboy boots and cowboy hat on his head. I wasn't sure if he was ready to work or dance. The repair was patched and I was glad to see him leave the house.  Very unprofessional young man named Louis.  Incredibly expensive repair, but thankfully it's finished.  A stressful afternoon having him at my home.  He wasn't very confiident in his abilities and at one point told me he'd broken the spring pump for the door and that I'd have to order a new one, but my husband managed to fix it. He struggled with the door for hours even after replacing weather stripping, he couldn't get the door to cooperate.   This repair just didn't go the way it should have in my opinion, but it looks alright, a little rigged and patched, but it's parr for the course.  I'll look elsewhere for a carpenter.

Was going on a vacation trip left the job to Handyman Matters. Technician said he would call with a estimate for the job then call when he was complete to settle up. Work was started without an estimate. Got back from vacation asked my tenants if the work was complete. They said NO the technician was coming back after a few days after mud dried to texture ceiling. Several days later I get a call from a women @ handyman matters that left a message calling me a deadbeat for not paying for completed work???? She expressed how she hated people like me that didn't pay their bills and that she would see me in court. Granted only a week has went by without a single phone call from these people and work unfinished. Who calls customers names when trying to collect payment. I called back payed a man over $300 dollars for $100 of work. Finally contacted my tenants thinking technician had come back and completed work! Please see pictures of the "Completed Work"

It took about an hour. One gentleman came out. Staff is very knowledgable and friendly.  They do wonderful work. The additional space he made for the refrigerator fits perfectly. They insured we were happy and everything done correctly.  They clean up after themselves.

They did a really good job.  They were fairly reasonable as far as their rates go and very nice to work with.

See the description above. The work was shoddy, the worker had a bad attitude and the person scheduling the work, a lady, had a terrible attitude. I let the worker go after an hour, though I had paid for more because he was so terrible and completely inept.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was good and I was pleased with it. There were no additional charges. They were timely, pleasant and professional.

The work was done well.  There was an additional charge, though.  I had them install a few things in the bathroom and put together a few household items, as well as help with a lock on the fence.  I'd use them again if needed, and I recommend them, too.

It has been one of the worst experiences I've had.  It cost me $365 (after a reduction!) and two days of time off work to be there when they were.  Do not believe what the website says about quality and wanting to make sure customers are
satisfied.  I was just on the phone with John Briley and never have wished more that I had put a stop pay on a check.  I feel like they should refund at least half of what I paid, but John had assured me he'd make it right.  That's not what happened.
As for the wallpaper border, although the person who works there and takes the customer requests on the phone said "yes we do wallpaper", fact is that they don't, unless it is a re-positionable border.   No one asked me that, and I believe
it should be assumed that if you say "wallpaper border", it's real wallpaper border, not a stick-on.  So, after the first guy they sent out picked at it with his fingers for an hour, I asked him to move on to the curtain rods and hold backs.  He didn't install
the curtain rods securely, and didn't measure where he put the hold backs, had to re-do one curtain rod and both sets of holdbacks to get them even (holdbacks were not even w each other by an inch on each window).  He left the holes in the wall where he moved
the holdbacks from to correct the alignment.  He also could not hang the over-toilet cabinet, saying he thought it was a small shelf, so couldn't do it by himself.  Okay, again, I told the person I spoke with on the phone that it was a wooden cabinet, with
three shelves inside, and double doors on the outside.  Communication is really poor.  I declined to have this person even try to hang pictures since the simplest measurements weren't done on the window hardware.
I sent pictures and an email to the owner, and they said they'd send someone else out to correct and finish the work.  The second person secured the hardware on the curtain rods, patched the holes on each of the windows where the hold backs
were incorrectly placed.  He hung the over the toilet cabinet, with my husband's help, since he also had been *again* incorrectly told by the office it was a "shelf".  And, he also said, oh, we don't do wallpaper.  So, my daughter's birthday room re-do now
has a torn up old border instead, while I trusted John Briley to do what he said and make it right.
Also, and very important, the second person sent out, although he did fix some of the issues, RUMMAGED THROUGH OUR PANTRY AND TOOK GRANOLA BARS AND ATE THEM.  I had gone to the school to pick up my daughter and our housekeeper saw him (as
did our remote cam).  I typically offer water or whatever, and would have gladly offered food or snacks if asked, but he waited until I left the house, went to the pantry (not even close to where he was working, btw), took food w/out asking, went out to his
truck and ate it.  You don't want people like this in your home.
No picture hanging, no correction of the half torn up border, and I still have to paint over the patched holes in my wall myself.  I'm out $365, two days off work and all the additional wasted time taking pics of the problems, emailing
them and the repeated phone calls back and forth.
I don't typically do reviews, but this was just beyond the pale, and something needs said about it.  If you're considering using this company, I would truly just pass.

I bought an Angie's List deal:  $99 for 2 hours of professional handyman work.   Before buying the deal, I called to
make sure that they could work on the tasks where we needed help - fixing the leaking water tank toilets in our house.  During the call I was informed of their regular hourly charge (in case they needed more time to finish the job) and that they would charge for the materials, etc..

The positive aspect of them is that they were prompt for scheduling an appointment when we needed.  I have the feeling that they will answer the phone and/or return your call (if they miss the call).  For that. I give an "A" to the person who answered the phone and schedule the appointments - he was really courteous and professional.

On the other hand, I have to give a "D" to the person who came to our house to fix the leaking water tanks;  The ratings above are for him -  if I'm not mistaken, his name was Pete.  The first appointment was very short.  After checking the water tanks, he informed me that he didn't have all the materials with him, which was ok.  And that he would have to come back later that day or in the next morning to fix the water tanks.  He didn't show up in both times, or even in the afternoon of the next day...  I called the office around 6pm of the second day to report the missing appointment, and the person who answered the phone told me that he would call me back after he finds out what happened.  He called me back in a few minutes and rescheduled an  appointment for the next morning.  The final appointment went fine, but a few things happened during the task that made me decide not to call them anymore.

Overall, I would not use Handyman Matters of Houston again.   I do not have any special complaints about them, but I feel that there are better companies out there.  When the toilets started leaking again we ended up calling another handyman.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was okay. I used them before. I'm not sure if it is worth it to use the handyman services or just to do it myself. I would expect a handyman to be a little more capable of doing more things. They were late. The cost was good so I might use them again. I'm not sure about their ability to do all the things I would like them to do.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They made me mad because it was labeled as 7 hours of labor which was fine but then they wanted to charge me a service fee on top of it. I had to argue with them for a while. It was fine if there was a service fee but it should be disclosed in the deal description but I think my agreement actually was I would complain if he didn't take it off and he did take it off. When I called after I purchased the Big Deal to schedule it, she told me should there be a service charge, she said that was in the fine print on Angie's List so I agreed to it that's why I was annoyed because when I went back and checked the fine print on Angie's List, it wasn't there. I made a big fuss about it and we went back and forth. He said it was disclosed but I had the fine print and it wasn't disclosed. It took about 4 emails and then he finally took it off. They even took it off the bill.

I called the company back in mid April to schedule a time to meet the handyman at the house (I don't live in the location) and I mentioned right away that I had an Angie's list coupon. I met one of your contractors at the house and I explained what needed to be done. He responded that he would have to go get supplies and come back. A few days later, I received a call from a different contractor, Dale, asking me to call him to schedule when to come out. I was confused since I had already explained what needed to be done to a different contractor. I tried calling Dale back right away and he never answered. He never picked up nor called me back. I left him a few messages.
When scheduling the job, I asked that I be notified when the handyman was going so I could be at the location of my rental house and explain the work to be done. I was surprised to hear later from the tenant at the house that Dale had arrived and performed some work and never called me to tell me what he was doing. The lady in their office mentioned that they had mad a mistake and had accidentally not relayed the message to Dale to contact me.
I received an e-mail from Johnny, the owner, a few days later with pictures of what was fixed -- some caulking around a window and reattached a closet door that had come off the hinges using bigger screws. The third job, which was a more major fix of the garage, was not touched.
I e-mailed 4/25/13 to ask Johnny to send the invoice. I did not receive anything. I noticed that the company had overcharged my credit card -- in addition to the Angie's list coupon that I had paid for, they charged me their usual rate to make the repairs.
I e-mailed again on 5/22/13 (1 month later), requesting the invoice. I still did not receive any reply. I then called their office in late May and spoke with the lady who works in the office who said that the owner (John) would call me back the next day but I never received a call back. On 6/1/13, I e-mailed again, now a month and a half after I had been trying to get in contact with him. He finally responded saying that you would refund me $99 that had been overcharged (not the appropriate amount). I e-mailed back 6/3/13 about this. He did not respond. I called 6/7/13 again and spoke with the lady in their office. John finally responded when I mentioned that I would write a negative review on Angie's list.
I then e-mailed again on 6/7/13, requesting a refund for the overcharges which I still had not received as well as the invoice. I did not receive a reply as of 12 days later. I did finally receive a check from the company for a refund but it is unclear whether this is the appropriate amount or not without more information from them.
This company has had a serious lack of professionalism in not returning calls nor e-mails to a customer. The owner tried to blame it on being away for a few weeks on vacation. My understanding from the conversation with his staff is that he had not been on vacation for 1.5 months, so in fact was being dishonest with me. Highly disappointed with this service! Would never use them again. Price was very expensive as well. Note that they charge $50 trip charge on top of all other charges.

I had a hard time understanding the guy from Handyman Matters of Houston. The guy was 70 years old and his hands were shaking. We didn’t get the job done completely. We just made him hang the pictures because we were feeling bad for making the old guy to do the job.

I did not have a good experience with the handyman for a day deal. I thought that I could replace all the towel racks in 3 bathrooms in 6.5 hours, but didn't realize the old holes had to be filled, then repainted, then install the new racks. The remaining tasks only took 4 hours, so in the future I would pay by the hour. The work was ok, but while installing the racks the paint was chipped and the wallpaper got a tiny hole.  The ladder was not high enough to replace my (very high) lightbulbs. Another handyman had to come and fix the leaking shower head, which he did very cheerfully and promptly. The ratings above are for the first handyman not the second, who I would rate higher.

We have been using Mr Handyman but found them to be expensive.  Tried Handyman Matters for the first time.  Pete did a great job; did everything we asked him to do; he didn't waste any time.  Pricing was more reasonable for what was done.  I gave them a B rating on pricing and punctuality because handymen in general will find reasons to have to go buy supplies, use a little of what they buy and don't leave you the rest (which is what happened in part).  And he didn't bring a ladder which didn't make sense so he had to come back.  Then when we said he would call back, he didn't so I had to reschedule with the office.  None of that a big deal; we will use them again.
