"Unfortunately, after reading this "F" review written by Mr. & Mrs. [Member Name Removed], I see that I still haven't been able to get them to understand that you can't diagnose issues with a garage door opener when that opener is attached to a door with a broken torsion spring. When there is a broken torsion spring on a garage door, you have to repair the torsion spring first, before you can determine if there are any additional issues with the garage door opener. When James showed up to the scheduled appointment, the single car garage door that's in question had a broken spring. He inspected both doors and quoted a repair or $760 to replace the torsion springs on each door, replace the severely worn out rollers in each door, add an 8' support strut to the top of the right door, and to replace the Genie coupler on the garage door opener on the left door. While doing the inspection, the customer explained to James that the opener would run, but the door wouldn't move. With that verbal diagnosis given by the customer, plus the visible broken spring, the obvious next issue would be with the coupler in the garage door opener. With a broken spring on the door, we couldn't test the opener with the garage door attached, but based off all the information we had at that time, it was determined that the coupler needed to be replaced so the opener would function properly. James was initially given approval to complete all the quoted repairs, but then after everything was explain to Mr. [Member Name Removed], via phone, Mr. [Member Name Removed] decided not to address any of the repairs on the right door and wanted to focus solely on the left door. At the time, James revised the price quote to $321 ($199 for the torsion spring installed + $22 for the coupler) and was given approval to complete those repairs. After doing so, James lubricated the door and the opener, re-engaged the door to the opener, and ran the door multiple times to confirm everything was working properly. Customer confirmed the door was working and paid the invoice. A few hours later, customer called in stating the opener wasn't working again, we set a return appointment with the customer the next morning. At this time, Ryan (owner) went out to the property to inspect the situation. Upon my arrival, I noticed the safety eyes were out of alignment. Once I realigned the safety eyes, I ran the opener a few times to find everything working fine. I had a discussion with the customers about the age and quality of the current garage door openers and as a courtesy, I informed the customer that it might be time to think about replacing them with newer, better quality garage door openers on both doors so they have something that is reliable and dependable. That afternoon, Mr. [Member Name Removed] called back again stating the opener would not close the door again and at this point the opener wasn't even running. He stated the opener wasn't even running and said this was their problem from the beginning, except the opener never displayed that action in either of the 2 visits we made to the propery. I re-explained the whole situation and recommend that they replace the garage door opener. Mr. [Member Name Removed] became upset and began attacking the process of diagnosis and overall experience with us. I never once stated that it was not my problem, and in fact, that phone conversation ended with the customer hanging up on me while I was speaking. I feel we did everything we could to try and satisfy our customer."
