The salesman at The Dump was very friendly and helpful, except for one minor (actually major) oversight. He did not make us aware that the sectional couch that we were purchasing would require an oversized door to get it into the house. This was not apparent because the sectional was assembled and the part that was overized was partially hidden. Not to mention the fact that my wife and I weren't even thinking about this problem because we had never experienced buying a piece of furniture that would not fit through a standard 36" door. When it came time to receive the sectional, the poor communications between us, the delivery company, and The Dump was amazing. I gave them my cell number as a primary contact and my wife's number as a backup. She happened to be out of town on the delivery date, but for some reason, they kept calling her number (or not calling despite what they told us), no matter how many times I asked them to call my number. They finally gave us a time of delivery, which would be between 5 and 8 PM on Sunday. They clearly do not know how to schedule deliveries even though I'm sure they've been doing it for a long time. They finally arrived at my house at 10 PM on a Sunday night. It was at that point that we discovered that the furniture would not fit through our standard 36" front door. The driver told us that he runs into this all the time and that the salesmen never warn the customer. Perhaps the salesmen are ignorant of the problem, I don't know. The drivers deal with delivery all the time. The sales people deal with selling different sized of furniture all the time. I buy furniture about once every 8 to 10 years. I'm clearly not the expert among this group. I had to take a day off from work the next day to find a storage facility for the part of the sectional that wouldn't fit into my house, hire a delivery company to move it (adding $100 to the $149 they charged the first time around). Not to mention, it was 11 PM by the time they finished the night before. The driver was very helpful and responsive to my needs and I would recommend him to anyone. He was the only bright spot in this whole fiasco. He saved me several hundred dollars by convincing me to keep the couch that night because I would have been charged a 20% restocking fee if I would have refused delivery. Apparently, The Dump is very unforgiving when the furniture you bought from them won't go through your door (which is a normal-sized door). My wife called the next day to get some sort of satisfaction, but as I've ready EVERYWHERE else, they were unresponsive. We asked them to refund us the $149 delivery charge and they refused. We told them that we were moving to a new home (thankfully the sectional will fit through a set of French doors in the new home) and that we were looking to buy additional furniture - but would NEVER return to the The Dump if they were not willing to work with us. They were not willing and we won't be back. So these geniuses have now lost additional sales that would probably amount to over $10,000 because they were unwilling to work with us on a $149 delivery charge. That's brilliant!! But, with us, it's the principal of the thing. Their customer service rep was rude and obnoxious, and we won't be back. But, unfortunately, these guys have way too much business apparently, so your satisfaction after they have your money, is irrelevant.

Dealing with The Dump was the worst experience we have EVER had, in any customer service arena. We purchased the furniture but when it came time for delivery one of the pieces we had already paid for was not in stock. So we pushed the delivery back a few weeks. Note, despite their advertising for "free delivery", we were charged $100 for delivery. They delivered two twin beds and two nightstands to our home weeks ago. Because of this one delivery I lost two days of work due to their drivers inability to keep the first appointment. When the furniture finally arrived it was damaged. Their delivery people were rude, unprofessional and wanted nothing more than to shove papers in our face to sign. They even left our home without completely building the furniture. This was a delivery we paid for. Had their delivery personnel not been such unsavory people (I was happy to have out of my home) I would have gone after them so they could finish. When I called a to schedule a technician to come out to fix the damaged furniture I was told that someone noted on the account that my order was canceled and returned. This was obviously incorrect since the furniture was sitting in our home. After the customer service corrected the account she told me the technician was scheduled to come out to our home April 15th. I received a call the day before saying the technician would be here between 10:30 to 12:30. After taking another day off work, I sat and waited for the technician, which come to find out is a sub-contractor for the dump. But the technician never showed up because The Dump gave them the incorrect address. Once they had the correct address they told me the technician could not come until the following Tuesday because now he was heading in different direction. Tuesday will be the 4th day I have to take off work because of The Dumps incompetence. When I called customer service and told them what happen, the supervisor was too busy to talk to me. Surprise surprise. The customer service representative said it was my fault they sent the technician to the wrong address. He said they gave the technician a billing address. This is yet another lie. My parents bought this furniture for their grandchildren. Their billing address is in California. They sent the driver to another address in Spring, TX. They delivered the damaged furniture to our home, but could not send their sub-contractor to the same place to fix it? The day before the technician is supposed to come fix the furniture. I did not receive a call telling me what time they were coming, like they said I would. After spending 25 minutes on a call with The Dump, while they called their service contractor to get a time frame for them to come fix the damaged furniture they delivered- they tell me the technician did not but in a time for the service call. Really!!!!! The next morning, still no call from the technician. Again, I had to call in. Finally after being but on hold and having to have someone call me back, they gave me a two hour window. The technician came during that time and fix the furniture. After losing 4 days of work, countless phone calls and delivery cost this furniture cost MORE at The Dump than it would have any where else.

They were very patient with me. I took the rug back and they accepted it and applied the purchase to another rug. I know their return policy is picky, but i complied with the rules and had no problems. They never hassled me and were polite and helpful.
Description of Work: I purchased a rug for my apartment. They were very professional and help me understand the ins and outs of different rugs and quality. They took every rug I wanted to look at down, explaining the colors look different down than hanging.

On 7/31, I purchased furniture totaling over $1600, to include a wing-back recliner valued at $319. On the first attempt (8/01), the Dump tried to deliver the wrong color chair. When notified of their error, they were unable to schedule delivery of the correct merchandise until the following week. During the second attempt (8/06), the Dump delivered a visibly damaged chair with a three inch tear on the front footrest of the furniture. When my wife attempted to refuse to accept the damaged goods, the Dump informed her that we were bound to take delivery of the item and we would have to wait for a technician to come inspect the damaged property in order to determine if the chair could be adequately repaired to new/stock quality. I'm no technician, but I'm pretty sure a torn and sewn chair will not equal an new, untorn one. The next available date for a technician to come was not until a week and a half later (8/17). It is unclear how long the repair/replacement of the damaged goods will take after that, but we will be approaching one month for delivery of a single item that was originally due to be delivered the day after purchase. My complaint primarily resides with a delivery/repair policy which not only flies in the face of common sense (e.g. delivering incorrect/damaged goods to a customer), but also sound business practices (specifically: untimely and unresponsive customer service capabilities).
Description of Work: I purchased furniture from the Dump; during multiple delivery attempts, the Dump first tried to deliver the wrong color chair, then delivered a chair with a visible tear in the front and told us we had to accept delivery of the item. Upon complaint, they scheduled us for a visit by one of their "technicians" (a week and a hlaf later) to review the damage. We still do not have a new, undamaged chair we paid for.
