Collective Countertops & Construction

Let me start out by telling you not to hire this guy for any project at your house please. We signed up with this guy from a recommendation of a friend(also my sub-contractor) who had worked with this joker in the past. He was to do our tile flooring, granite countertops and cabinets in our home after hurricane Harvey. Long story short my idiot friend who is also my sub contractor paid this guy for the cabinets upfront because he claimed they needed to be ordered. Then this fool started on the tile floor. Roughly 1700sqft of tile flooring took him 6 weeks to complete with the help four different crews and the work was terrible from the start. This job should have only taken 3-7 days to complete! The tile is uneven and isn't square to the house. First red flag. Ok after that it was like pulling teeth for him to get the cabinet bases in so we could start the granite. That's correct all he brought us was incomplete plywood cabinet boxes (no drawers or doors). My father in-law and I had to end up repositioning these boxes because they weren't even close to being level or square. 2nd red flag. So after all this were getting pretty upset and decide not to give this joker anymore money upfront so we buy the granite from a yard and have it delivered to his shop for fabrication. (This guy was only supposed to do our granite because that's his real business, he knows absolutely nothing about laying tile or what quality cabinets should be.) Weeks go by and still no granite has shown up then finally it gets installed one week. That's right it took the entire week and I'm glad I was able to be there as it was going in or the granite wouldn't have been glued down properly and the kitchen sink would have been backwards! 3rd red flag. Ok so after all this and we still don't have cabinet door and drawers this fool asked to be paid for the granite install to the tune of 2700$ even though he's holding our cabinet door and drawers hostage. So when we decide not to pay for the granite work until we get the rest of the cabinets this fools says he's not coming back to finish the cabinets! Yeah we paid him 8500$ for cabinets so he ultimately stole roughly 6500$ from my wife and I. Oh yeah and my wife is pregnant! What a stand up citizen right? Please do yourself a favor and never consider this joker for any construction project. He's bush league at best and I suspect to be an alcoholic. Dustin McDaniel Dickinson, TX
