Mr. Coker provided an invoice to me on October 21, 2008, and asked for a 50% deposit on the windows, the total bill being $6,900. These were written on the invoice to be "impact glass windows." I paid $3,450 to Mr. Kevin Coker, Check 1001 from my Regions Bank account. Mr. Coker signed the invoice as a receipt of deposit. Mr. Coker agreed not to cash the check until an okay was given by my son acting as POA. However, Mr. Coker cashed the check on the next day, October 22, 2008, and by last report from his sales man, Len Smith, he left the state. My daughter-in-law prepared a contract for construction for Mr. Coker, which did not reach him at his address of record on his state license. The contract was forwarded to another address. Mr. Coker called on November 18, 2008 to tell me he would send the check by Friday, November 21, 2008. We have requested the immediate return of deposit funds of $3,450. Mr. Coker was then called on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 and he assured me that I would receive a check in the mail by December 17, 2008. I went to his bank on Thursday December 18, 2008 and was told there were insufficient funds to cash the check. Mr. Coker did not pull a City of Melbourne permit. Mr. Coker has not indicated that he will buy or install the windows as agreed on the purchase order. Mr. Coker has provided a fraudulent check to me which is not a refund. The local Police Department Officer Chip Wiebe has filed Case No. 2205, NP 080088124 regarding this problem - case # 7387128. Mr. Coker's Office Manager, Lynn Smith, asserted Mr. Coker as an "unusually honest and ethical man" assuring the check would had overdraft protection and to send it through. It was sent through and returned unpaid - contrary to Lynn Smith's assertion. Since this, he has changed his company name in Florida.
Description of Work: Mr. Coker represented that he could provide hurricane strength windows for my home for a low price. I am 84 years old and live alone in my home. He took my deposit, did nothing and left.
