I?ve been using their services for around 4 or 5 years. Around 3.5 years ago, they installed a toilet for me. The toilet tank cover had broken, and I also needed a TNP valve replaced on my water heater. When scheduling the appointment, I gave them the model number for the toilet, and they let me know that they?d repair that when they came out to repair the TNP valve. They were going to order a replacement cover, which we agreed on a price of $62 for, and then bring it to that scheduled appointment. Once they arrived, the toilet bowl cover didn?t fit correctly, so they told me they?d take the old cover with them to get the correct cover. When I called them to ask when the correct one would be installed, they told me it would be $100. I then asked to just have my old cover back, since I can find a cheaper one elsewhere. The receptionist then told me it would be $21.74 for them to bring my old cover back due to the restocking charge for the part that didn?t fit. They told me it was my fault because the model number was incorrect, which I provided to them. I don?t think it was my responsibility because I gave them the model parts to the best of my knowledge, the restocking fee was never explained, and because I purchased the toilet from them, they should?ve had that information already. I left a message for Julio, the owner of the company, to give me a call, since I feel like this company is trying to take advantage of me.

On Thursday 03/17, he called us and gave us this model number of the toilet tank lid he wanted in replacement of the one he broke. Normally customers are not too sure of the part numbers so that’s why they call us to check for them and we order from there. He was very sure that the part number was right because he even told me he spoke directly with the manufacture and the supplier to make sure he got the correct information. On 03/18 we went out and discovered the lid was too small, so we told him we would take it back and check on the price for the correct one. Flashback to when we first installed this commode on 11/19/2007; we do not write down model numbers for the commodes on the invoices, nor do we keep track of that information since we are billed monthly by the supplier and neither do their invoices state the model number. We had no idea that we would be charged a restocking fee since we were sure we could return it with no problem. On 03/21 I received the information on pricing for the correct tank lid and gave him the correct price of $ 100.00. He flipped. He said he was not going to pay for that so he wanted his original lid back. This is when I informed him of the restocking fee. He should have been fortunate to only have to pay this, since I had a hard time convincing the supplier to even return it. He got very upset and said he wasn’t going to pay that. I don’t think it’s logical that we waist our gas again to take back the lid and not collect at least the restocking fee of $ 21.44. So I told him that he would need to come to our office to pick it up. He obviously disagreed and asked to speak with Mr. Chavez, the owner. On 03/23, Mr. Chavez called him and told him he would take back the lid and he wouldn’t pay for the restocking fee, and that it wouldn’t be today but another day. Why should we be held responsible for paying the restocking fee for incorrect information he gave us? On 03/25, Friday, Mr. Chavez returned the lid.

They called at the appointed time to confirm their arrival. The showed up on time, assessed the repair, left to get the parts, returned and finished the repair. They were very polite and professional. I had used them on one other occasion and their performance was the same. Whenever I have a plumbing issue, I would not hesitate to call them.
Description of Work: I had a leaking faucet and bathroom shower. They repaired the faucet in the lavatory and had to replace the faucet in the bathtub/shower. They had to go get the parts to finish the repair.

The cold water faucet in one of my bathrooms all of a sudden stopped working. It stopped working when I plugged the sink. I thought that the plug may have caught the valve under the sink, so I turned the valve, but that did not seem to solve the problem. I called this company on a Saturday at 7:30 pm to schedule an appointment for Monday. I was pleased to get a real live person who took down my info, including address and cell phone number. He told me that someone would call me at 8:30 am on Monday to tell me what time they would come by. The ability to schedule an appointment quickly was the only positive aspect of the whole scenario. Around 9:30 am Monday, I received a phone call from the plumber, saying he was outside. I was surprised to see him because no one had called me that morning with his ETA. I was in the middle of getting ready for work and taking care of my dog, so it was a bit of an inconvenience. I felt that this lack of a phone call was completely unprofessional. He checked under the sink and saw that the cold water valve WAS turned off. He turned it back on and the cold water was working fine. I felt pretty dumb. He charged me $65 (their service charge fee) minus 10% off for Angie's List discount for a total of $58.50. That's a lot to pay for what I *DO* realize is my own stupidity. However, the plumber did tell me that they are in the area all the time, so it's not like he made a special trip. Furthermore, I had a similar incident in December with the kitchen sink. However, the original builders of the house had not turned the cold water on all the way. Wasn't me that time :) The plumber who came out from Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services turned on the cold water valve and did not charge me a cent. Wish I would have called them this time! Overall, a huge ripoff.

I do apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you. I must make you understand that our service call is a standard flat fee we charge everytime we service our customers and is only waived if the estimate we give you for any repairs is accepted. I realize we didn't do much, but turn a valve. As far as not receiving a phone call when we were on our way, I do take full responsibility for that. I was informed that my plumber was on his way, but was not able to call you on time before he showed up. We are very honest, reputable plumbers and will not argue with what we charged you. Again I apologize for the inconvenience and wish you luck with other companies.

I called Chavez Plumbing on a Friday afternoon, immediately reached a human being, who was courteous and efficient. My appointment was scheduled for the following Monday morning. The plumbers were prompt, courteous and cleaned up afterward. After showing them the repair items, he called into the office and had an estimate within a minute or so. I gave the OK for the work, and it was done (including pickup of parts) within two hours. The bill amount matched the estimate. The repaired items look to be in good working order.
Description of Work: The company repaired a leaky bathroom faucet, replaced the P-trap and other pipes under the kitchen sink, connected my refrigerator so the ice maker would work, and fixed the flush on the toilet.

Called Mr. Chavez on Sunday to make arrangements for someone to come out the next day. Monday there was a little confusion about when they were to come out, but his office contacted Mr. Chavez and he sent someone right away. Very professional. The man who came out accessed the problem and did a great job on minimizing where they had to cut into the wall. Found additional leaks and took care of all of them quickly. I would definitely call this company again.

It was great from start to finish. I have used Chavez before and was not disappointed. Kept me informed every step of the way. Told me what the problem was and and what the options were. Did not charge for time when a standard floor mounting did not fit and they had to drive back to their supply house to get a specific and proper fitting part. They cleaned up the mess completely when finished. As usual they were courteous and professional. The price was competitive for the work done. I will use them again fo any plumbing job. They are always polite, prompt, professional and dependable. They are also a family operation and the pride they take in their work shows as they do their job.
Description of Work: Leaking toilet, slow small but growing leak out of the toilt base where it met the floor, whether flushed or not. Required removal of toilet, total reconstruction of 30 year old plumbing toilet mounting and new base collar on which to attach toilet. Old fitting was so rotted out and corroded that it took much longer than expected to get it out and then to fit and solder the new mounting piece onto the drain in the floor. Much bigger job than originally expected.

They arrived on time, did a minimal amount of damage to the garden (considering they had to dig a three foot deep trench through the front yard). The only minor problem is one of the sprinkler heads didn't work as well post plumbing repair, but as the leak had been causing our water bill grow huge and the repair was done so quickly and efficiently, this seemed a minor inconvenience.

It didn't go at all. Called and arranged to meet them at my daughter's house between 9 and 11:30. I called again at 1:30 to find out where he was and was told he's busier than we thought, he shouldn't be much longer. At 3pm I called and left a message on the machine saying "forget it" and I called someone else. I waited HOURS, so won't be bothering with them again.

I apologize for the inconvenience. You called in and requested service the same day. Unfortunatley, I wasn't in when you called so you spoke with Mr. Chavez directley. He always tries his best to fit everyone in the schedule, but he didn't know what I already had booked. That is why he informed you that he would call when he was on his way. We didn't want to give you an exact time because as I mentioned to you, we never know how long each job will take. I'm sorry you waited at your daughters house for 3 hours, but again we told you we would call when he was on his way. I completley understand your fustration, and wish you luck with other companies.

The owner responded before the appointed time, worked expertly, changed out necessary parts, was friendly, and helpful with advice for the future. I felt confident that my work was being handled by a very experienced person. My only caveat was the price. I felt it was a bit expensive, but I haven't paid for a plumber in a long time, and may not have a realistic idea what current prices are. ( I had a policy with American Home Services.) I would definitely hire him again!

I needed someone to come immediately because I had a serious leak in my kitchen that has wood floors. I investigated really quickly and found 3 or 4 people. That was night time. I gave my husband the list and the next morning he called them. They all said they couldn't come immediately, but by 10 o'clock I got a call from Chavez. They did excellent work. They were very polite. They were very clean. But they took me to the cleaners. They charged me just to replace the disposer. I ran down and bought the disposer. If they had had to go and buy the disposer, they would probably have charged me another $110.00. They placed it in and it took them 20 minutes. Then I got the phone calls from other people. Without telling them, I told them what I wanted done, but I didn't tell them that I had already got the work done. None of them were going to charge more than $100.00. I did not like to find that out. Chavez's work was wonderful. It was just overpriced. They did good work and they did very fast work. It was one of the sons of the owner who came out. Everything was perfect except the price they charged me. Even if it had been $110.00, I wouldn't have been shocked. They had told me that it was $65.00 for them to come out and if I didn't use their services, I would have to pay the $65.00. Then they added it on to the other people's cost. When I pointed it out, the guy said it was their normal charge. He was very nice and very polite. I would not hire them again. There is not one person who thinks that I had a good deal. Everybody was shocked by what I paid for the job. Mr. Chavez will never see anybody in my neighborhood. I was in a bind. I had to have it done and they were here. It wasn't until afterward that I got the price. I didn't want to pay $65 to have someone come out and say they cannot fix it. When I asked for the service, they didn't tell me that it was the normal cost. They just said they would have to look at it. It couldn't have been at a worse time.

They charged us $1,500 for the job. That seemed kind of high, so we did a little digging and found the invoice from when we had replaced the other water heater (sits right next to this one) two years ago for $900 - and it was the exact same make and model as the one Chavez Plumbing just installed! We thought maybe the units themselves had gone up dramatically in price so we looked online and found them for sale for as little as $350! Of course you have to add shipping and labor - but the price we were charged was still way too high. When we asked Mr. Chavez about this discrepency he agreed that different companies charge different amounts and did agree to give us a partial refund ($200). I don't mind a fair bit of profit for good work - but this is a relatively common job and $600 more than others would charge seems excessive. It didn't require any special equipment or tools. Not sure why his prices are so much higher than others in the area.
Description of Work: One of our water heaters was making a loud popping noise (sediment in the tank). Called and they came out on time as promised and replaced the water heater. Did a good job and were very efficient, etc. Their work seems very good - I just have a serious complaint about the cost when compared with other good plumbers in the area.

We appreciate you allowing us to service your plumbing needs. When my plumbers quoted you for the water heater you accepted it right away. It was in the early afternoon and our local supplier was about an hour away. We sent a different crew to finish up the installation to make sure you had hot water that day. I apologize that you thought we were the same company who installed the other water heater, but I even told you that we did not install it. I realize we were much higher in price, but one thing we take into consideration is unexpected damages that could occur or liability if my plumbers get hurt. We could not cover those expenses if we were to charge as cheap as the other plumbers. Again we appreciate your bussiness and my suggestion is next time you request a qoute make sure your completely ok with the price before accepting it.

They came out the next day to do the actual repair. They replaced the rusted metal pipe, and extended the PVC sleeve so water wouldn't get in and rust the new tubing. They were on site about 2 hours. Left a very clean work area and the pipe work outside was very cleanly done as well
