Despite it being Memorial Day, Mr. Chavez arrived when he said he would and went to work. After a couple of hours he was finished and cleaned up after himself. I would certainly recommned him to others.
Description of Work: Our house was built in 1956. The toilet was leaking at the bottom. We took the opportunity to replace the toilet with a new elongated, high one. The faucets in the tub were leaking and we replaced then with new ones as well.

We had a backup into our downstairs powder and Chavez plumbing had a technician out within a few hours. They diagnosed a problem down the line outside of our house and provided a quote. We had to wait a couple of months and they still honored the quote. The service and professionalism they provided should be a model for all businesses. Not only did we have our problem fixed they were very careful when they removed the sod and returned it over the excavation site.I hope that you don't have the difficulty of a plumbing problem but if you do, there is no one I would trust more than Chavez Plumbing!

Had several estimates. Chavez plumbing were the only ones who actually jumped in and partially exposed the leaking line and definitively established what the problem was before giving me a quote. A quote that was significantly more reasonable and with a clear plan of action than others. They arrived on time, were professional and organized. When it became clear that re-routing the line was going to be more complicated than they thought, this was clearly communicated and they called in 4 extra employees to get the job done. Care was taken to preserve the health of our oak trees and they dug manually to do this. Their quote included the use of COPPER lines from start to finish, where other competitors were advising a combo of PVC, flex, and copper. They finished in 1 day and left the whole area CLEAN. Very happy with the whole experience, the price, and the results. Thank you very much.
Description of Work: Had a leaking water main from meter to house that was slowly eroding the base of our giant oak tree. Had a completely new line installed and re routed to avoid tearing up landscaping / irrigation. New shut off valves and spigots were installed.

I contacted Chavez Plumbing and they came out punctually at the appointment time. Mr. Chavez, the owner, was friendly and cleared the sink drains himself. He listened to the banging that occured whenever the hot water was turned on and off. I said it sounded like it was coming from the attic, so he went up and checked the pipes in the attic. He correctly pointed out that there were many loose (unsecured) pipes that could be causing the noise and recommended securing them. I agreed and his workers showed up a few minutes later to get started. They took about 2 hours securing pipes, but were unable to eliminate the banging sound. Toward the end of their visit, they seemed to narrow the banging down to the wall of the master shower. My wife had to leave for another appointment so they wrapped up their work where it stood (unresolved). Mr. Chavez called me that afternoon to say that they suspected that the banging came from the master shower and would come back to the house at my convenience to investigate further and discuss options which could include cutting into the bathroom tile. A few days after the 1st visit, I examined the attic work and found a few places where the pipes were still loose. Given that I had already paid money and did not have full resolution, I wanted to make sure that I at least got what I paid for in the attic. However, I did get some piece of mind knowing that the attic pipes were not vibrating or loose. I scheduled time the following week and Mr. Chavez returned. He was professional and, when I showed him the pipes that had been overlooked he said he would have his men take care of it without any problem. He said they would also investigate the master shower noise further. The workmen showed up the following day to tackle this remaining work. It took a couple of hours, but they finished the attic and were able to isolate the noise from the master bath. There were some pressure-balancing valves in the shower fixtures behind the walls that would pop whenever the hot water was turned on. They cleaned out one of the valves and volunteered to work on the other at no charge. However, that work would have required some additional time and tile cutting which I didn't need. I was greatly relieved to understand the source of the problem and know that there was not a more serious issue. I appreciate that Chavez Plumbing followed through on their work without any question or argument. Their workers are polite and they cleaned up after themselves. Mr. Chavez is honest and I appreciate that he made sure his team got to the root of the problem.
Description of Work: The Chavez plumbing team was tasked with eliminating the banging pipes in my attic. They secured the pipes in the attic with screwdown collars. On a second visit, they accessed the pipes in the master shower from the shower handle fixture itself and properly diagnosed the underlying banging noise. They also cleared two sink drains for me on the first visit, which only took them about 15 minutes. I paid $693 (after 10% Angie's discount) for the attic pipe tiedown work and clearing two sink drains.

Chavez plumbers came out at the specified time, evaluated the problem and gave a very reasonable estimate. I had them fix the leak right there and then. They had to access the pipes through my daughter's closet which had a lot of clothes in the way. The plumbers put everything back very neatly and left the bathroom clean. They also fixed a leaking toilet downstairs. I was VERY pleased with the service and professionalisim of Chavez plumbers. They work hard and do not charge ridiculous prices like SO many other plumbers. I would use them again if I needed plumbing problems

This was as pleasant an experience as it could have been for sewer/drain cleaning.
Description of Work: Sewer backed up into laundry room on Friday. Called Chavez Sat at 8:30 AM and he said he could come out by noon. He (Juliio Chavez, the owner) actually arrived at 10:15 AM. Nice!! He listened to the problem, asked a few questions, and then started doing some testing with the sink and washing machine. The only knock on the service was that he asked for some towels/rags after the drain started to back up (a little late at that point), but not a huge deal. He explained the problem and started snaking from the plumbing outside the kitchen sink. Eventually, he cleared the line, and gave me a few suggestions of what I could do to help the situation in the future like which lines to open, and maybe plug one of the drains that isn't used. I then asked what the charge would be, and he gave me a 10% discount which is a lot less than I expected, including a 30 day warranty, just in case.

We did get several bids, including one to have the pipes coated using the epoxy-type coating. We decided to go with the flexible pex system. Chavez's workers covered all the areas, including where they would be walking but not working, with plastic or tarps to protect the carpet and wood floors. Of course they did have to cut sheetrock in several places. They did such a good job cutting the sheetrock, that they were able to put the sheetrock back in place. Our sheetrock/painter said all he would have to do is float, tape and paint. Chavez's group arrived on time every day and worked usually until 6:00 - 7:00pm. They cleaned-up the areas where they had been working every night before they left, including hauling away the old pipes. Got the job done within the time they said they would. The workers were very nice, hard workers, very careful and very respectful of my Mom's place. What seemed to us as a very overwhelming project, they took it on and completed the job with ease. We are VERY pleased with their work.
Description of Work: I highly recommend this company for plumbing work! My mother's house had those defective galvanized pipes installed in many houses back in the late 70's. After the 4th pipe leak, resulting in sheetrock and cabinet damage, we decided to replace all the pipes in her two story townhome. We did get several bids, including one to have the pipes coated using the epoxy-type coating. We decided to go with the flexible pex system.

ARS Plumbing installed a recirculating pump on my hot water heater, which included a "comfort valve" at the furthest location in my hot water system. That ball valve allows the hot water to circulate, thus little to no wait for hot water far from the hot water heater and tank. However, the valve gets clogged and has to be replaced after a few years. I asked Chavez workmen about this when they were here doing other work on 3/6/12 and they ordered the valve. They returned on 3/14/2012 and R&R the valve, quickly and efficiently. They checked the recirculating system for proper operation and were very nice. This cost less than ARS the last time they replaced it about 5 years ago. I will use Chavez again for all of my plumbing needs.

Description of Work: I have a Price-Pfister kitchen faucet set, 2-handle + sprayer with lifetime guarantee, which began leaking and Price-Pfister send me a replacement. I called Chavez to come r&r the set. Their response time shocked me it was so quick and easy. They were completely professional and I had them look at a couple of other plumbing issues that I have. About a month later, the faucet began dripping, so I called them again and they promptly and fixed it, just an adjustment. I am thotoughly satisfied with this company. They have numerous 2-man teams which seem to be readily available and well trained with experience, and they are very nice.

They showed up 10 minutes early, listened to what I wanted and gave suggestions, then got the job done. Very professional, knew what they were doing. They were the 3rd plumber I called this week. I was notified up front that there was a site visit charge for Mr. Chavez to come out and do an estimate, which would be waived if I chose to have the work done. I was ok with that. When he came out, he even got my kitchen faucet working for me - no charge. I thought I was going to have to replace it. I have a long wishlist for my bathroom, and the price was over what I could do right now. I asked if they could split the estimate into smaller phases, and they were accomodating. I called on a Monday to schedule phase 1, and they were able to send a crew out the following day. Originally, I was just going to have the valves replaced, but having removed the vanity found that the placement of the plumbing was not going to work with the new one I just purchased. Gabriel did a quick assessment, spoke with Mr. Chavez by phone and gave me a good price for moving the plumbing. We're in a townhouse and have strict rules regarding turning off the water to the building. Gabriel worked with the management company and easily met the requirements - no complaints - no problems. Had everything done before noon. Replaced a washer in my other bathroom sink faucet because he noticed it was needed - no extra charge. I was very happy with everyone at Chavez Plumbing - from Vicki in the office to the crew to Mr. Chavez himself. I will use them again when I've saved up enough money for the next phase.

Mr Chavez owner of Chevez Plumbing Co. came our to my business and said that he would email his estimate to my email address. Mr. Chavez estimate was over $1,800.00 for $200.00 Job. I spoked to Vickie Mr. Chavez employee and she said that price is what it is. She knew that I was applying for an Certificate of Occupancy and that I had a deadline. I told Vickie Mr Chavez employee that the price unfair, but I had a deadline so I would pay that unfair price, but I would write a review on Angies List. She said that Mr. Chavez was not going to return my job because they did not wont to receive a bad review. Mr Chavez is has a unfair business with unfair pricing.

Response from Chavez Plumbing Inc
In no way or form was the price affected because of the area or the deadline you had to meet. We meet deadlines in a timely and professional manner. We also feel that being judged on pricing alone has no ethics behind what kind of services we were offering before commencing the job. We do value our customers, but when we felt that we were being treated with no respect we decided to not accept your job. We are a reputable company, and we did not feel threatened when you wanted us to perform the work even after you said you would post a report against us. Even after accomodating you for your deadline and not charging you the service call fee, you still felt our business was unfair.

Mr. Chavez arrived at 12:30 on Sunday afternoon and immediately investigated source of leak using a probe. He quickly determined that the source was near or in the meter vault. He removed the dirt from the vault and determined leak was on my side of the meter. This meter had recently been removed by the City to repair a City main. The leak was not from a broken pipe, but in fact all three connections into the City meter were leaking, two on my side of the meter plus the City's connection into the meter for supply. Mr. Chavez removed the entire meter, cut new gaskets and replaced the meter. We had several problems with stainless bolts literally shearing, so it was very frustrating repair (been there before). Nonetheless, Mr. Chavez was very persistant and finally got the bolts to hold and was able to stem the leaking tide. He obseved it for a period of time under full pressure to verify the leaks had been repaired. He then replaced the vault, refilled the meter box and replaced the sod. Good to go. The total charge was $700 and change. Immediately prior to his arrival, another highly rated company provided a quotation of $2100 to simply replace the entire service line from meter to house (55 feet). They did this without locating the source of the leak. Mr. Chavez approached this leak correctly by investigating and determining the source of the leak, then attacking only the problem that needed to be fixed. It was not an inexpensive repair and frankly not one that is easy to determine how long the repair would take. In all, it took right on 4.5 hours to fix. Very tight quarters, wet and mucky. An on a Sunday long after Chavez Plumbing's stated working ours. Mr. Chavez is a very pleasant person and clearly a professional.
Description of Work: INvestigated potential sources of leak and determined it was near or in the meter vault. Excavated meter box. Removed meter. Hand made gaskets (3). Reassembled meter. Tested.

We had one secondary bathroom sink clogged up and they snaked it. The quality of the work was good and now it drains perfectly but they were here for less than 30 minutes and charged $165! I don't think most non-surgical doctors get paid that much!!! Like the staff and plumbers but unfortunately will have to look for someone with a less expensive rate next time than $165 for less than 30 minutes.

Anyway, the above was on 3/31/2012. Chavez plumber said he will come on Tuesday (4/3/2012) to fix the part or replace faucet if he cannot find the part. We took off from work on that day. No one showed up and no one called. I emailed them on 4/4/2012 requesting the status. Got a quick reply the same day they were trying to find the part. As I had not heard from them since 4/4/2012, I contacted them again on 4/9/2012 requesting for status update so we could get the problem fixed. We never heard from them again - it is 24 days since they first checked the problem. I checked the web and plumbing stores and fixed the problem myself for total less than $60, so it was not an impossible problem for professional plumbers to solve. We will not be hiring Chavez Plumbing and definitely not Village Plumbing again (we paid $65 to Chavez Plumbing for diagnostics and $59.99 to Village for diagnostics, and I solved the problem myself for less than $60). Waste of time, money and a lot of headache besides the fact that they are extremely over-priced and over-charge unsuspecting customers. Thank you Angieselist for your great service.
Description of Work: Plumber came and checked our roman tub faucet for problems related to connecting a shower head. He checked and said it may be difficult to find the part, but if the part was not available the whole faucet may need to be replaced. Their prices were $285 to replace faucet (we pay extra for faucet) OR $45 to fix it if he can find the right part. The above prices were MUCH more reasonable compared to Village Plumbing in Rice vilage, who were going to gouge us upward of $1100 (Village Plumbing wanted to replace the faucet for $700 or so; we pay extra for faucet; and they did not even try to fix the faucet or give us the option of finding a part). So we said OK let's go for the part or full faucet replacement if needed. I liked that Chavez Plumbing tried to fix the problem instead of giving us a very expensive solution.

I found Chavez plumbing on Angie's List. I called on a Sunday regarding water backing up in the house that I bought recently. I was expecting just to make an appointment, but they came out that day. They arrived almost exactly when they said they would, and called to confirm before they arrived. They were unable to clear the drain, and after rooting it all the way to the sewer tap, they diagnosed that the line was broken there. Mr. Chavez told me they could fix it, but that I might want to call the M.U.D. first to see if it was something that they should fix instead. Dealing with the M.U.D. didn't get anything repaired, and determined that it was my responsibility, so I called Chavez plumbing again. They came out the next day and started work. They had to remove a tree over the broken line and work a bit to get to it. They didn't finish the first day but came back the next day. After seeing what they had to do to get to the break, I was surprised at how well they put the yard back together. Everything works perfectly now. They were very nice, knowledgeable and accomodating. The final price came in under the low end of their estimate, and they subtracted the cost for the original call from that. I couldn't be more pleased. I will definitely call them for anything I need in the future.

I searched Angie's List to find the best plumbers in Houston. The search returned two I called for estimates. The first was Nick's and Chavez. Nick's plumbing was the first that could come to the House on the same day I called for an estimate. They were very professional and wanted to replace the entire main line from the meter to the house for $2,780, which did not cover the replacement of the concrete. They could schedule the appointment for the following day given I called them back in the early morning. Chavez Plumbing on the other hand could not come for an estimate the day I called but was able to come the next morning. The plumber came with an assisstant and was able to give me an estimate to replace only the portion of the pipe that was broken and replace the concrete. I found this solution much more acceptable and did not understand the reason Nick's Plumbing suggested the entire pipe be replaced since only one section about 4 inches was broken. Chavez after completing the estimate returned to their shop to obtain a concrete saw and return to my house and completed the entire job in 3 hours as opposed to Nick's estimate of the job taking about a full day. Chavez left the site with the pipe fixed, concrete pored and saving me almost $2,000. This was completed approximately two weeks ago and no issue to date.

While working in the backyard I notice water dripping from an overflow drain on the back wall of the house. I went to the attic and discovered the drip pan under the water heater was half full of water. Looking closer, it found that the water heater was badly corroded at the fill and discharge lines. I had used Chavez Plumbing recently to repair the master bath shower and was impressed by their work. I called them around 6:30 PM Saturday evening and left a message stating that my water heater was leaking. Within 20 minutes Mr. Chavez returned my call and we discussed my situation. He stated that he would be able replace the water heater around noon on Sunday. Mr. Chavez arrived at my home at 12:15 PM and quickly began working on removing the old water heater. While he was doing this work his assistant was preparing the new water heater in the driveway. Once the old heater was disconnect they, with great effort, removed the old heater from the attic. Mr.. Chavez told me that the water heater was within days of complete failure due to internal corrosion. The house was built in 2002, thus the water heater was just over 10-years old. Next they lifted the new heater into the attic and began installation. The new heater was about 1-foot taller than the old one. This caused issues with the exhaust vent. They moved the new heater around as best as possible to try and align the unit with the existing vent pipe, but due to the taller heater they had to push up on the vent pipe in order to connect it to the top of the water heater. Mr. Chavez's assist climbed up onto the roof (nearly a 12/12 pitch) to seal seam where the vent pipe joined with the rain caller. All the other connections were made and the gas pilot ignited and heater turned on. They stayed an additional 15 mins to insure that the new water heater was working properly and heating the tank. I did not look at the roof vent at the time. The heater worked properly and they departed at 01:20 PM. There was some minor rust staining in the attic walkway from the rust and scale that dripped from the old heater, but drips were cleaned up on the hallway floor and bathroom used to drain the heater. Once they departed I went outside to examine the vent stack to check the sealing of the pipe to the rain caller. I was able to see that large amount of caulk was applied around the seam. Due to the step pitch of the roof I was not able to get a closer look at the seal from the top of the roof. Looking at the vent from inside the attic it appeared that the seam was sealed. The next day a heavy rain storm passed over the house while I was at work. When I got home I went up in the attic to look for any signs of a water leak and could not find any leak. I did not contact Mr. Chavez about this issue. I know that plumbers have to adjust vent stacks but they are not professional roofers. I will be contacting a roofer to check the vent stack to see if the vent is properly sealed. I do give some credit due the work being performed on Sunday and within their short 2-hr work period. Despite this issue, all the other work was satisfactory and I would use them again.

I think the toilet they provided was a little cheaper than I was expecting and I'm having to add a new seat and handle to make my wife happier. I was working from home that day and had no time to check the work or even care.
Description of Work: Replaced a broken toilet.

Wow. I was impressed with Chavez Plumbing. I noticed the copper tubing connection above my hot water heater was leaking. I tried to fix it myself, but to no avail. I called Chavez Plumbing. They got to my home fast. Mr. Chavez replaced the hot and cold copper tubing with heavier and much stronger tubing (the original tubing installed was cheap and ready to burst). He was very professional, personable and a pleasure to do business with. The cost was very reasonable. Looks like I have found my "go-to" plumber!!
Description of Work: Fixed the copper tubing connection leak above the hot water heater by replacing both hot and cold tubing with heavier and stronger copper tubing, and making sure the connections were sealed properly.
