Telephone estimate was quick, professional and educational. If I had chosen to use this company they were prepared to come out the next day to install the water heater.
Description of Work: I called Chavez Plumbing for an estimate on purchase and installation of a water heater. They were professional and quite pleasant. They answered all of my questions. I received an estimate for the purchase and attic installation of a high quality 50 gal heater. I chose not to use this company because they did not carry the brand of water heater I had decided, beforehand, to purchase.

He did a good job and was very pleasant. He offered an on-line coupon of 10 or 15 percent off but he would not honor it because I did not have it on hand. His price was reasonable; he came out on time and did what he promised. He was clean and went to get the supplies from Home Depot. He came back, installed them and was done within 90 minutes.

After trying a couple of de-clogging techniques on my own, I decided to call a professional. When I called Chavez Plumbing at 5pm, a very nice lady answered my call after one ring. I asked if they would be able to send over a plumber to clear a bath tub drain tomorrow. She said no problem, and that she could have a plumber over between noon and 2pm. She also let me know that the cost for clearing a bath drain typically runs between $165 and $185.The next day, she called me back at 11am and said that the plumber could come over right away. So, the plumber arrived at 11:30am and was done clearing the drain in less than 30-minutes.Upon arriving, the plumber quickly assessed the options, and went up into my attic an found the vent pipe for my clogged drain. He then snaked it and cleared it up.I was impressed with his professional manner. He did a nice job.
Description of Work: I had a clogged bath tub drain. Chavez Plumbing took care of clearing the drain.

They called when they were 30 minutes away and arrived on time, I work a few minutes from work and only had to take off a minimal amount of time. They reviewed the problem, gave me a fair estimate (based on my website search of what it should cost) and repaired the issue quickly. I even got another estimate for additional work in the bathroom for a later date. They get a "B" in professionalism because they did not have a flashlight with them and were using the one from thier smartphone.

When we scheduled the appointment, the receptionist gave us a window of time and said that the plumber will call me whenever he is on his way to my home - which could be 15-30 minutes ahead of the meeting time. When I received the plumber call on the scheduled date, I immediately rushed home and be there within 15 minutes. However, me and my husband have been there for more than 45 minutes (almost 1 hour) and still haven't seen the plumber. By the time the two plumbers got to our home, it's already an hour from the time the receptionist called me. First of all, we asked them to check if there was any water leaking underneath the kitchen sink and if it's possible to have the drinking water filter installed. There was only one plumber who can communicate in English. The one who cannot communicate in English used his smartphone light to check the kitchen sink! They did not even bring any proper tool/equipment - flashlight for the job! That really surprised me -- their quote was not the lowest on the market! All these immediately led us to think that they were not professional in plumbing. Once the one, who does not know English, finished up one task, he would tell the one who knows English in their own language and the other person would translate for us. He told me that they can install the drinking water filter and asked me how much the receptionist quoted me. When I first set up the appointment with the receptionist, she said that the installation cost would depend on how complex the filter is and the plumber will be the person to make price decision. The lady gave me approx. range of $145-285 for installation. We got the filter from Costco, which my husband has installed it once at another house, so we know that it's not that difficult and shouldn't be charged at the high end for installation. I told the plumbers that the lady did not give me a price as it will come from the plumber; they said they need to charge us $285 (the high-ended price) for the installation! That's even more expensive than the filter itself! We declined the offer and asked them to just go ahead to check the water dripping issue at upstairs bath-tub. After examining the faucet, the plumbers said they had to charge us $185 for the fixture. Again, the quote seems too high for us, but we thought if he could change 3 shower heads at minimal additional charge, we decided to use them to fix the water dripping. Change of shower head is an easy task, not only to them but also to us; but we were willing to pay for it because we were thinking to use that time to continue our house cleaning. They said they need to charge us $40 for each shower head! That's ridiculously high; our shower head does not even cost that much. So we declined again, just paid them the trip charge and let them go.
Description of Work: We recently purchased a pre-existing house and noticed that there was water dripping from a faucet at the bath-tub. Also, we would like to have somebody to help out on drinking water filter installation as we were concerned if there's any water leaking underneath the kitchen sink.

Response from Chavez Plumbing Inc
In response to your first concern with timing, we schedule in window time frames for the fact that we cannot control traffic, which is why we call with approximate timing of arrival. As far as the water leak under the kitchen sink, which was not mentioned when the service call was scheduled, we are being penalized for practicality in using the light from a phone. Regardless of the language that my plumbers used amongst themselves, there was a plumber who spoke fluent English and explained what needed to be done. In regards to pricing, our office is to refrain from giving prices over the phone, for situations like this, and this was mentioned during the call, but was insisted in quoting a price range. This was accepted, but then we were expected to hold the lower end of the price regardless of affirming that my plumbers would be the ones to determine the final price. In the end, we were not given the opportunity to showcase our quality of work, but were stopped and judged on pricing beforehand.

Bottom line i think i got ripped off because of the situation. The only parts they brought in was about 20 foot worth of copper piping, which couldn't have run more than $75. The rest of the $700 was for 1 1/2 hours of labor?? Wow can I quit my programming job to become a plumber at $175 dollars an hour?
Description of Work: Had a pipe start leaking in the ceiling so I called Chavez Plumbing Inc to come out and replace a section of it before things got any worse. Since the leak was occurring in between one of the wooden support framed (2 inches wide) so they said they had to replace the whole pipe. All 20 foot of it. OK, not a big deal until I got the estimate of $778.50. Ouch! I went ahead and gave the go ahead figuring everyone else would probably charge the same amount. They fixed it in an hour and a half.

They responded very quickly; they owner came out and gave me a quote the same day that I called. He was very professional and said that he could repair the faulty part in our water heater (the less expensive route), but advised that since the unit was very old and had not been properly maintained, we would likely continue to have problems with it and that replacing it would be the best longterm solution. Within an hour of my getting the quote from the owner, a 3-man crew arrived with the new hot water heater. They were also very professional and careful; they laid down padding over our hardwood floors from our front door all the way to the closet where the hot water heater was located. The process was very difficult, as the heater was located up high and they had to maneuver around a light fixture and sprinkler heads to accomplish the replacement. The entire process took them around 3 hours. Everything was perfect after they were finished--they even had to remove several shelves (and everything on them) in order to make room to complete the job. They put everything back where it was originally and left everything neat and clean. The price seemed very expensive to me; the hot water heater itself (47 gallon Bradford White) was $450, so the labor itself cost close to $1000, and that was AFTER the 10% Angie's List discount. However, we did notice copper piping running from the hot water heater to the wall that appeared to be shiny and new; so that may account for some of the cost, as well. I had never had a hot water heater installed before and wasn't sure what it should cost (internet research suggested anywhere from a few hundred dollars up to a couple thousand), plus I was worried about not having hot water over the weekend, so I accepted the quote. Although I would have liked to have gotten a few comparison quotes, I am very happy with the work that Chavez did and would hire them again.

Excellent work - see above - they were done in less than an hour - cleaned up all messes and did an excellent job. Our house is 30 years old and the upstairs bath needs renovated - new plumbing, tile, tub, etc. I have requested an estimate from Chavez to do the work -and as soon as I find someone to do the tile work...I will call them back. They are the 3nd plumber we have had to call in the year since we moved to Houston and bought our house, while the others were good, they did not compare in price, professionalism and work product. The $65.00 service call fee - is very reasonable and they applied that fee to the bill. The others we called were both over $100 and basically did less work. Thank you Chavez Plumbing, they will be my turn to plumbers for anything I need in the future.
Description of Work: Water was backing up in both sinks in the 2nd floor bathroom. We bailed it all out the night before and looked for leaks and could not find anything. The next morning we woke up and found water dripping through the ceiling in my office on the main floor. I found Chavez Plumbing on the list and called them. They were at my door step in a few hours. They looked over the problem, identified it immediately and and took care of the problem. They also cut out the wet drywall in the ceiling to make sure no leaks were in the pipes/drain. They graciously answered several other non related plumbing questions for me. The problem had something to do with algae/gel building up due to A/C pipes and drainage and they just had to clean it out. They gave us recommendations to keep it clear in the future.

I called after reading reviews and found everything to be as advertised! Making an appoitment was easy and received the first time I requested. Two guys showed up on time, which allowed them to complete everything within an hour. One of the sinks in my master bathroom has been consistently getting clogged over the last year, despite repeated snaking of the drain by myself. I requested that they clear that drain and replace my kitchen faucet (I had already purchased the replacement). I also requested the master bath tub handles and spout be tightened, but was told it couldn't be done without removing the marble tiles around it. He honestly told me that he didn't think he could do a good job with the tile, so we just decided to hold off on that repair. While fixing my bathroom sink, he found some of the pipes leaking and fixed that too. The kitchen faucet install looks great and they cleaned up after themselves. I think they did a great job, were punctual, and prices are reasonable. After using the 10% off Angie's LIst coupon the total was about $275. I would definitely use them again.

We found out about Chavez via Angie's List. We called them and a few others. Nick's Plumbing for instance charged $125 for emergency service since it was on the weekend. Chavez charged $65 just to come out, but if you used their services they waived the fee. We ended up going with Chavez, made the appointment around 8:30 or 9 am and they arrived around 3 pm. The parts to repair the leak were probably less than $20, but we did not have the tools or know-how to do the job. Hence the 30-45 minute job probably would have taken us several hours. We also had the plumber look at the low water pressure in our bathroom shower. Another plumber from a different company tried to convince us that we needed new pipes, for a total of almost $3,000. But Boni at Chavez told us it was a cartridge problem, and the job would cost less than $300. He didn't have time to do the job that day, but we set up an appointment for the following week. In the second visit, Mr. Chavez, the owner of the company, did the work on the shower. He charged us $285, fixed the issue plus replaced the shower head and fixture. It sounds expensive but when you go from having a dribble of a shower that takes more than an hour to fill the tub to being able to fill it in 15 minutes, it is totally worth it. And even my husband who spends ZERO money said it was the best $285 he's spent in a long time! We are relieved to have finally found a reliable plumbing company who does great work. And remember, you get what you pay for!

Upon returning from a trip I discovered water coming up through a crack in my driveway, water running on a walkway at the back of my house, and water standing by the side of the walkway all the way to my garage. Of course, I assumed I had a busted pipe under the concrete beneath the house or under the concrete in the driveway. I called Chavez Plumbing and in about an hour the service man was here! He looked at the places I pointed out to him, came inside, pulled out my dryer in the utility room, looked at the connections behind the dryer and the washing machine , and said it was a leaking water value connected to the bar refrigerator ice maker that is in a room that is behind my utility room wall. I haven't used the refrigerator in years and did not even know it was stil connected! Anyway, he turned off the leaking water valve and the water is not coming out of the concrete under the driveway or at the back of my house! Evidently, the water was leaking between the wall or in the bar area because it was not wet in the utility room area. I was so worried that this was going to be a hugh expense, busting out concrete, replacing water lines, etc.,etc., but thanks to the speedy and efficient help of Julio at Chavez Plumbing I have a big worry taken off of my shoulders. He was fast, friendly, courteous and Thank God, cheap! I would definately use them again for my plumbing needs!

Called on Monday to get estimate for a few small plumbing jobs. They came out the same day and about 20 minutes outside their window. Julio was very pleasant and was clear on what he could fix and what would be more extensive work. The faucet and drain were fixed quickly and the toilet was a more major repair that my land lord would have to authorize. Julio spoke directly to the land lord and said he would give them a more detailed estimate for the work. He was able to put the toilet back in working order without making the repair.

I found Chavez Plumbing through Angie's List. I had 3 different plumbers / contractors come out and none of them were able to do the job. I looked on Angie's list and found them and they were one of the higher rated plumbers. I called them and they came over and got the job done. The owner of the company came out and talked to me to make sure I was satisfied. They were very quick and efficient and did a real quality job.

I have always been extremely satisfied with Chavez Plumbing. I consider them my plumber!
Description of Work: On the basis of its high Angie’s List rating, we have had Chavez Plumbing come to our house for plumbing repairs on four occasions. Each time they have been very punctual and completely professional. Their repairs have always been completely reasonable from both a mechanical and financial perspective. On one occasion, Mr. Chavez himself came because all of his other personnel were on other calls. He made the required repair, and, in response to my questions regarding two issues related to our kitchen sink, he made a minor repair on the sink faucet and would have made an additional repair to a problem with a diverter valve had he had the required part in stock. He advised me that my Delta faucet was insured for life, and that they would send me the replacement part free of charge. He charged me only for the repair related to our original call. I will definitely call Chavez Plumbing any time I have a plumbing problem. They richly deserve Angie’s List Super Service awards.

The plumber, "Boney," treated each individual stem in an effort to stop faucet leakage but was unsuccessful and determined the problem was the housing which was old and had several eroded areas causing the leak. The housing was replaced, the leak problem solved, all within about an hour or so. Not only was he thorough in his work, but explained in detail what he did and why. He was courteous, friendly and conversive in addition to being a good plumber. I wouldn't hesitate calling on this company, and/or recommending it to others, should the need for plumbing repairs arise again.

Was not done with the professionalism required from a reputable plumbing company and that charges a premium price for plumbing work. Two individuals came for the job, the Master Plumber and the Helper. The Master Plumber is required to supervise the job. The Master Plumber from Chavez Plumbing never got out of the company van. The helper did the work that involved repairing a connection to the house main water line. If I knew the work would be done by a helper, I would have done the work myself. The time taken to do the job was 15 minutes; the cost was $112.50 ($125 minus a Angies List 10% discount). Since water flowed from the house once the outside faucet from the main line was removed; the lines should have been bled after the new faucet installed. The helper never bled the line or even went inside the house to make sure that water flow was smooth and there were no large air pockets that were created when the main water line was worked on. The Master Plumber is there for a reason and while they may not do the physical work they are there to supervise and make sure the work is done correctly. I do not expect this level of professionalism from a reputed Plumbing Company that charges a premium price to do plumbing work. After Chavez plumbing left and I turned on the inside kitchen sink faucet I had a mess as a result of water trying to fill the air pockets that were created when the work was being performed. I have used Chavez Plumbing in the past and they were good but this time it was not a good experience and one that should never be repeated for any customer.
