CALICO CORNERS

Although the concept of Calico is wonderful with beautiful fabric selections in a lovely show room, their execution is far from it. It took 6 months with numerous revisions and, in the end, my headboard is still faulty.

Throughout the process, I made sure to specify my requests in writing and often with verbal follow-up to ensure comprehension, yet somehow there seemed to be perpetual breakdown in communication. There were times when I felt like I was being deliberately defied (e.g., a template was created for approval by me yet not followed, buttons were moved exactly the opposite direction discussed thus damaging the material... it was maddening!).

For the amount of money paid for the headboard and bedskirt, the products should have been perfect from the outset and delivered on time, without the never-ending efforts required on my end. 

When all was said and done, I requested an adjustment to the amount that I paid, and 5% ($125) was credited. I could have purchased a gorgeous semi-custom headboard (and known what I was getting in terms of design) in a fraction of the time with minimal effort for considerably less money than I paid for this one. And, while this experience scarred me in terms of custom furniture, I have since had a lovely custom dining table made (in short order and precisely as I designed) by another company... 180 degrees different than my experience with Calico.

I will not use Calico again, nor recommend them to family or friends.

I am very pleased with the qualtiy of the workmanship. All of the sales staff were pleasant and very helpful when I was trying to make my fabric choices. The store sales person, Jackie, that I worked with was very patient and her suggestions were helpful without intruding on my ideas. She just helped me add the final touches that made the difference. The workmen that came to install were very professional. The cost is a little high, but worth it. I had a great experience.

It was really hard to do the slipcover for the wingchair and they did a great job. I had used them before and I knew that they are reliable. My only complaint is that they are very slow.

Juliet came to my home for a consultation prior to me purchasing furniture at Calico Corners. She took some pictures and talked to me about my "vision" for the room. Then I met her at the store the next day. When I got there, she had already pulled several fabrics she recommended for my new couch and chair. She was spot on with her choices, and I loved her suggestions for how to place the furniture in the room. She also had great ideas for a color scheme for my bedroom and bed coverings. I don't know what I would have done without Juliet!
