I have a home warranty, so they come in and do a tune-up, and things like that.  It's been good. I have no complaints. I'm very happy.  The price has been good too. So far there has not been any hidden cost, they stuck to their promise which was a one time payment. They've been pretty prompt about their service. The quality is very good. A couple of times they've come out, they call us in in advance to tell us the time they were going to come out. They stuck to that time. I would use them again.

As it turned out, One Hour A/C came out within a few hours, found a bad capacitor and had us back up and running in minutes, As for BFS and their returning our phone message, they did so on Monday 7/9 stating that they had us scheduled for service the following day!!....5 days since our A/C went out.
In summery, this is  my 5th or 6th experience with Service from one of 2 different Home Warranty Service companies and my conclusion is that if you can WAIT for them to get to your problem, it's probably a breakeven proposition dollarwise. In my case, I've had 2 instances like the above with A/C units where I wouldn't wait, and paid for third party service; I replaced a Hot Water Heater at my expense, because I didn't want to wait 2 -3 days and an undersink disposal unit which was almost a cheap as the service call deductible.Likewise a garage door problem.
I did outwait them out twice on oven and Microwave oven circuit board problems which was probably worth  it, because now I understand they no longer cover those under their standard program.
Perhaps a very pertinent side note to the above most recent A/C  problem and BFS's failure to respond to our call was the fact that our annual contract was to expire on 7/8/12....3 days after our initial call. There caller on 5/9, stated that we still would have been covered ince they had a record of the call before contract expiration.

Reported broiler heating element was totally burned out and needed replacing on a Mon. call was returned on Tues. setting a date to come inspect the problem for Thurs. I explained in detail the problem, gave the oven brand by model and asked that the repair man bring a new element with him. "will tell him, but probably can't do that. Will have to be sure of the part". Tech shows up within 2 hours of appointment time on following Wed. and confirms that "yes, you need a new element". When asked how long to get repaired was told that he'll turn in a requisition, which has be approved, that will go to purchasing and they will issue a P.O. which will allow him to pick up the part and call to set a date to replace! At this point we'd been without a broiler for 6 days already.. When asked again "how long?" was told probably sometime next week". I asked if  I went and bought the element could he come back the next day and replace for me and he said that if he was in the neighborhood "yes and that he would call". The next day came and went with no word from tech, so I purchased the element. and replaced it myself the following day.
While tech was there originally,he also looked at our Ice maker which was not functioning and wrote up another service call on it for which I paid the deductible of $55.00. As I was very unhappy about the heating element and he was unable to give me a reasonable answer as to when he could come back, we were not charged for that call. The ice maker was replaced a week later.
My complaint with Broward is1)the inefficiency and  lack of urgency in their system. I ran a service company for 30 years and our practice in such cases was for the tech to call in a report of the problem, get a P.O. # and go get the part then or next day at the latest.2) that takes 2-3 days to get a tech out to diagnose the problem. I recently  paid an independent contractor to replace a water heater (which was covered under the warranty), because I didn't want to be without hot water for a week.
These inconveniences and expenses over and above the contract cost makes one question their value. (The heater cost me $1200 and the element $95). Best thing about Broward is courtesy of their techs as far as I'm concerned!!

The plumber showed up well before the estimated time to fix, which was good. After I pointed out where I knew the problem was, he told me that my home warranty didn't cover it. I was OK with that. For him to fix the problem, it would cost $130. That was perfectly fine, in line with the cost for another plumber. The problem arose when 1) the plumber told me that the cable machine, known as a pipe "snake" would be broken if it hit roots in the line, which I know from first-hand experience is extremely unlikely, 2) the plumber told me he tried using the cable without turning on the machine - why wouldn't you turn on the machine unless you have sub-standard equipment?, and 3) the plumber refused to do the work. And, 4) most importantly, all the plumber did was to run water into the drain from a water hose. This resulted in flooding of my bathrooms. I didn't realize my bathrooms were flooding while I was busy telling him I would pay the $130 while he was busy refusing to do anything. He left the hose running into my yard upon leaving. Another plumber (reviewed separately) couldn't figure it out either. So, I bit the bullet, rented a snake myself, went the opposite direction of the 2nd plumber, pulled up a few roots, and had the drain cleared in SEVEN minutes. I've yet to use my warranty for any covered service, so this isn't really a commentary on their WARRANTY. As such, I'll give BFS another chance. Perhaps they need to review their skilled resource strategy.

Broward Factory Service provides a yearly repair contract for me. This service is provided for a reasonable cost and is quite inexpensive. Along with the service they have provided to me personally, they will do other types of repair work. They are professional and provide quality work.
