BMC BUILDING MATERIALS

We have replaced half of our windows due to rotting and leaking and will likely replace 10 more.  
Save yourself the time and money use another provider, not BMC and another door and window product.

They supply stuff for builders, they are a material supply house. They sell the windows, and then they have a contract with an installer. They weren't a typical window company. Overall I was very happy with everything they did, but they do more than just windows. I dealt with their sales rep, and he could have sold me metal doors if I wanted one. Customer service, the sales consultant and the installation was excellent. There price is very fair. It was one of the lowest, but definitely competitive.

We purchased two fiber glass french doors from BMC software just before Thanksgiving, 2012.  These doors were to replace the orginal metal sliding glass exterior doors from our living room and master bedroom.  The doors were manufactred by BMC and we had our contractor do the installation of those doors.  Our contractor took three days to install the doors and when they were completed with their work, we discovered that the both sets of doors did not close properly as the working door units in both sets of doors had 5 or 6 inch gaps at the tops of the doors where the door met the door frame and the latches and locks on both door units did not properly engaged unless you closed the doors very hard.   Our contractor then discovered that both doors were warped in a cupped condition with the area of the doors by the door locks being about 3/4 of an inch out of line with the top and bottom of the doors.  Our contractor and I then spent the next two weeks calling and recalling BMC to get the problems corrected.   BMC folks basicly do not return any of our several calls even though they always promised to do so: we had to call them repeatly to finaly get their services folks at our house to effect the necessary repairs. The head of their services group made several promises to our contractor that were not honored, and even though we have had their service folks on site on two different occassions in the past two weeks, the doors are still not working correctly.
We kept calling up the BMC chain of command and finaly did get their Sales Manager, Mr. Randy Lutz to come to our house and verify that the doors are infact still not working correctly. He was at our house on Friday, December 21, 2012.  We called him several times and he finaly did come out.   When he was at our home on the 21st, he promissed that he was going to call us back with the date that the new door parts would be availabe.  Given that this was Christmas week, we waited until after the New Year to call the back and they finaly had the replacement parts manufactured the first week of January 2013  and BMC had their repair crew out the end of the first week of January to instal the replacement parts were installed to our satisfaction.   At this point, I am not changing my overall rating of this company as the whole process was very stressful, took way to long to complete and I am still not going to reccomend this company to anyone ,


 

Lonestar Doors is a very reputable company that did a great job. The doors are sturdy. We had a minor problem with one and they took care of it right away. They were pleasant and easy to talk to. We enjoyed the experience. We got a great price for the doors.
