Bellaire Air Conditioning & Heating

We have used them several times. They do a good job. We have an annual contract with them.

They recommended replacing the existing 40-year-old hard pipe system with flexible ducting. After someone else recommended repairing the existing hard pipe, I did some research and felt that replacing existing hard pipe with flexible was not the best choice. When the estimator called me back, he could not explain why I should install flexible but insulted the people who recommended hard-pipe. He also spent quite a bit of time quoting prices for a new air conditioner, which I did not need now. However, he did a good job explaining how the duct system works, why I had rust and mold on several registers, and why some registers were oriented incorrectly. So I did learn some things from him. Overall, they would not be a bad choice as an HVAC contractor, but you need to know exactly what you want done or you may wind up with them doing the work in the most profitable way and not necessarily in the way most beneficial to you.

They came on a weekend. Their friendliness and professionalism was perfect. I would use them in the future.

Originally Charlie came out, found the switch stuck, opened it and told me it might need to be replaced. Sure enough it stuck again 2 day later when Brian came out and replaced it. He refunded the amount of the prior service call as well as an Angies List discount. I was very well pleased with both of their professionalism and service.

I spent about $76 for their services. I had an outage and the guy came out and charged me whatever their minimum fee was. The guy explained to me what had happened to the compressor and he said that was common with that kind of compressor. Then he inspected everything for the basic service charge. I asked him to replace the high efficiency filter in the attic. So, he looked at it and he said that it didn’t need a new one. They looked everything over and didn’t try to sell me much craft. They basically told me what the situation was. It was good service and good value for the money. They were very honest, prompt and they didn’t charge much money. I am going to call them again when I do have a problem. I would tell others to give them a call if they have any air conditioning needs.

We are repeat customers of Bellaire AC & Heating. We called them because our furnace was not turning on - we heard humming but the fan was not turning on. We called Ballaire AC & Heating and got an appointment the next day. Jeff came out and did a thorough check. It turns out our air filter was too dirty and restricting the air flow into the furance. He said our furnace was in great shape and should last another 10 years! We thought our furnace was in bad shape and were mentally prepared to replace it. I appreciate Jeff's honesty and that he didn't try to make us buy a new furnace unnecessarily.

Our A/C had stopped working but came back on after a few hours. The last person/company who checked it said that it would probably need to be completely replaced the next time that this happened. This person/company had done work for our neighbor and was recommended to us by him but we decided to use Angie's list this time to be on the safe side because we just didn't feel comfortable using the person/company who checked it last again. Bellaire Air Conditioning & Heating was professional when we called and very accommodating in finding a time for a service technician to come out. The Service Technician who came out was Shane. Unlike the last person/company that we used, Shane was very professional in both appearance and attitude. I would have been afraid to be home alone if we had used the last person/company who came out, but was not at all uneasy or uncomfortable while Shane was here. It was great to find out that not only did we not need a completely new system, but that instead of potentially spending thousands of dollars, which we were not really prepared to do at that time, we spent a fraction of that. I was actually shocked at how little we ended up spending because Shane was here for a good amount of time and really checked the system out well. I really felt like we got a really good deal and was totally satisfied with the service provided from start to finish. We will definitely use Bellaire Air Conditioning & Heating again without hesitation and would feel totally comfortable recommending Bellaire Air Conditioning & Heating to anyone else needing A/C or heating service.

They spent about three hours doing all the work and I thought the price was very fair for that amount of time. They were responsive and showed up on time. They were very professional and honest.

I thought of you when we had air conditioning problems. I was worried it was our old unit finally kicking the bucket. But turns out, the breaker was "weak" and wasn't turning on for the compressor. So after resetting the breaker, (duh!) , (and labeling the breaker (duh! duh!), he recommended an electrician replace the breaker. But also, he recommended a "compressor saver" - the one he installed is this one at: http://www.five-two-one.com/ - there may be other versions. He said most new units already have one - our other one that we recently bought did have one - I asked him to check - but bottom line, it seems like it might be good for anyone with an older unit - may extend the lifetime of your unit - and it saves a bit on electricity too if I understand it correctly. Cost $289 which included labor plus cost of hardware -- Sorry this is a repetition but I really don't have time to figure out what to enter where. Hope this gets published. [note to Angie's list - need to simplify the review process - I have avoided this before because of all the little categories and what not for how to submit review - this is the best I can do right now.]

The representative showed up on time the same day I called to schedule an appointment. He looked through my A/C configuration and gave me a lot of information about what work needed to be done and gave me a ballpark quote on the spot. He provided a wealth of information which was very useful.

Problem was reconciled, but the techinician was unprofessional and rude.

We have been very happy with them. We had one that we had been using for years and we had an emergency one weekend and they wouldn't come out. They came out and we have been using them since. We will definitely continue to use them.

Used Bellaire to diagnose and repair our two AC units which were having a series of problems. Hunter was our main service provider and we were very happy with his responsiveness, advice, and ability to figure out what could be going wrong with our systems. Instead of going "all out" for 2 new units, he presented us with a less expensive option and we went with it. We appreciated his candor in telling us that this probably wont be a fix that will last more than 5 yrs, but the fix he suggested worked for our immediate time frame and budget. So far, so good! We will definately call Bellaire again for future service needs. Kudos to Hunter and to their entire Company.

Top notch service. A/C started acting up on Sunday evening, called Monday morning to set up an appointment for the afternoon. Technician (Charlie) called back within 30 minutes to set up the appointment ("what time works for you?") and arrived early. After correcting the problem and giving the system a once over and adjustment and more freon, he also provided some tips on general maintenance and things that I could do to improve airflow in the house. He also spent time deciphering for me some of the work the previous owner had done to the unit and whether my monthly cooling cost and system performance was where it should be. There's nothing better than a really knowledgeable technician - you can learn a ton about your system in 15 minutes, it's a good way to get the most out of the service call you are paying for. The next morning a got nice phone call following up on the service. He also dropped by the house to confirm a couple of things he told me about the unit after thinking them over, which was way more than he needed to do! These guys are suberb!

I was very satisfied with the work that Bellaire performed. The technician arrived on time and was very professional throughout the time he performed the work. He very quickly identified the problem and gave my daughter recommendations on what she should do to keep the unit operational. He also replenished the freon supply of the A/C unit at no additional charge. The total cost of the job was within the estimated cost. I would not hesitate to use Bellaire Heating and Air Conditioning Services again.

The owner came over and gave us a bid. He was so knowledgeable and got the guys here the next day. They came in, did their work and left within less than one hour. They were clean, careful and very nice.

Awesome! I tried two other companies (bad: first driver drove off when he had to pay $.25 to park across the street and the second company made me wait three hours, didn't call and told me they didn't actually 'guarantee' workers would show up) and they so did not compare to Bellaire. Bellaire Air, showed up when they said, provided the service in a timely and affordable manner, and was VERY professional the entire time. Any other air conditioning issues and I will call them directly! I can't say enough great things about this service!!

Thomas was professional and prompt. Not a major service call, but he still took the time to tell me all relevant information about my unit and what I can do to maintain it. He did mention some other services that I might need such as a UV light, extra attic insulation, duct cleaning, and a service contract, but I appreciate that he was not pushy; he was seemingly concerned about the well being of my AC system. Good job Bellaire Air.

Unbelievable! Called on Memorial Day. Had callback within 3 hours and AC working within 4 hours. The technician (Hunter) was super courteous and knowledgeable. All in all, A++ service.

This was the best experience I could have hoped for in replacing our two HVAC systems! Initially when Rusty Miller came out to give me an estimate on replacing our HVAC systems, he carefully walked me through all the things that would be done and answered all my questions. When I received his detailed bid I called him with more questions about the systems and the proposed work, which he answered patiently and thoroughly (and that was before I even decided to go with his company!). His bid was the most reasonable and detailed and included all the things I wanted. And a friend (who owns a AC business in Austin), after reviewing all 3 bids I received, said he was impressed with the detail of Rusty's bid and said if it was him, he'd select Bellaire Air Conditioning and Heating to do the work. Once the crews arrived, the work was done efficiently despite the rain (yes the first rain in months happened on the day they were trying to install the outside units!). The crew also politely and patiently answered all my questions as they worked, pointing out what they were doing, had done and what was still to be done. They finished ahead of schedule on the second day (because they sent 2 crews since the job was so big). Rusty came out at the end of the 2nd day to go over all the work and to see if I had any questions or issues. We found two small things he & I wanted addressed (one of my old ducts had kink that we wanted the crew to fix) and putting a wire under the unit rather than on top (for esthetics). All this was completed several days later and Rusty was here to make sure I was satisfied. I would highly recommend this company without reservations! The service and attention to detail and all my questions and concerns were handled patiently and politely!

Once we realized that their intention appeared to be to simply keep coming out and adding freon and charging us $200+ a pop for it, we went back to Angie's List and found AirTech, who also had a good grade. They came out and fixed our problems from beginning to end. The issue turned out to be pretty basic. We had a major freon leak with our "coiling" or some sort of infrastructure in the attic. The inspector who ultimately fixed it said that it was a pretty basic issue that any repairman should have spotted and been able to give us an estimate on. AirTech fixed the problem in one day and the expense was $2600 from beginning to end with them. Given that the run rate with Bellaire was starting to look like roughly $600+/month with no end in sight, we were glad to have found someone who was competent enough to provide a permanent solution. While AirTech was doing work, they also found a problem in one our ducts that they repaired as part of the fix. This was a problem we had been dealing with in regard to how part of the house has been heating and cooling for years and they told us it was an easy fix to find once they began doing work and also something that should have been spotted. Bellaire has a great score on Angie's. At this point, I am confused by that. We witnessed a pattern of behavior with them that implied incompetence, an unwillingness to communicate, a complete lack of interest in helping us solve our problem, and a general level of arrogance in regard to our needs mattering. How another organization could come out in one day and offer an estimate, complete a fix, and solve an additional problem for the house while it took over a year with no prospects for a final solution with Bellaire is beyond me. Bellaire A/C had every chance to actually do work and get paid for it by our household in a way that would have had a meaningful impact on our quality of life and their checkbook and they failed at every attempt to get it right. Would not recommend, ever.

It was great they have been very helpful. I have had to call them back out a few times. They've always been very responsive and courteous. I sent in a rebate form but it was past the due date for the company so BellAire cut me a check for that.

The project began nicely but towards the end several things were overlooked. Some of the ducts were not hooked up and those things had to be pointed out to them. In the end, they did a satisfactory job. As far as I know, the young team that was on our project was let go.

Excellent service. Punctual, responsive, and techs went over and above the call of duty to see that I was satisfied. For example, during the project bid, the tech opened my air conditioner and cleaned out dirt that had accumulated over the years. On the Service Day, it was determined that the attic fan would not provide the anticipated efficiency and that my money would be better spent on updating duct work and insulation. The tech also covered unused ducts, disconnected a duplicate duct, and offered some ideas for improvements and areas I could further seal to gain efficiencies in the house. When my bill was presented, I was only charged for the new thermostat, and given a 15% discount for using Angie's List. This was the best experience I've ever had using a new contractor!! I highly recommend this company for anyone needed advice or updates on their HVAC.
