Arrived quickly after contacted by my insurance company. Employees had polite demeanor. They removed the wall and ceiling and set up fans to dry (from a faucet left on the floor above). The next day they came to check the dryness and at first the lady said it was complete, but after talking to her home office she stated it was not complete and needed to keep drying (hmmm.). The next day, they came again to check dryness and stated it was complete and they could begin repairs of the area. They spent several days on the repairs. They left the job one day very early to attend to an emergency situation at another home, which I did not complain about. The next day they were supposed to arrive by 9 but didn't, and didn't text until several minutes after that--I told them I'd already left the house and it was locked so they couldn't work that day. I stated that I was fairly sure the builder used latex paint on the trim, but the employee insisted most use oil (maybe so, but mine used latex--you can now see a different finish on the two windows in the room--one unaffected by flood has latex versus the oil one painted by Belfor). PROBLEMS: The quality of their craftsmanship is TERRIBLE, SLOPPY, CARELESS. I am an amateur homemaker and perform paint and repair jobs that look professional compared to what they did. FIRST, they left HUGE gaps between the wood floors ending and the trim adjacent to the wall--you could see through to the ground underneath!!!!! When I called them back to repair this (still cannot believe they actually considered that complete and were going to leave it), they merely stated they didn't understand why it appeared that way, as they used the materials that were there before. There were certainly not any kinds of gaps like that prior to the flooding and I hired them to repair the room nonetheless. Every other part of their "repairs" were performed to this standard: It looked like they used zero filler once nails were put into window trim before slapping thin paint on top of them. The mitered corners where pieces of window trim meet had sizable gaps with slopping fill, and again thin layer of paint over it (seeing some of the tan wood underneath). They installed a panel of drywall adjacent to an existing wall and in the corner where they meet, there are sloppy indentations where insufficient filler was used before slapping on the paint. Under a cabinet they replaced a piece of trim, but it is only half the height so a huge gap now remains. THEIR RESPONSE: When I contacted the boss about the gaps in the wood floor, he stated he would send the same employee out to repair it. I stated I was concerned about this craftsmanship. He sent him anyway with another employee. I took multiple pictures of the areas I described above and requested a 25% discount on the repairs portion of my bill, to which he agreed. He also offered to send another worker to repair all of this but given 1) the job was abysmal to begin with, and 2) I'd already contacted him for repairs and he sent the same employee despite my concerns I was done with them (not to mention already dealing with a family member staying here for MD Anderson treatment). BOTTOM LINE: If they're the only ones available for mitigation (drying out your home), ok. But, DO NOT use them for repairs--call a qualified contractor. Heck, even a worker off the street would surely do a better job.
Description of Work: Mitigation for flooded room: cut out drywall and ceiling. Placed fans to dry areas. And repairs: replaced drywall and ceiling panels, replaced floor and window trim, painted areas.
