Called in the evening, AC was out. Ed came out after his last appointment even though it was getting late. Ed was very professional and polite, he explained everything to me showing me exactly what he as talking about. I asked him to check the 2nd unit out also and it was low on freon. He showed me that the caps on the AC (where you put the freon in) were not on tight. He said that over time the freon will leak out so always make sure they are tight when an AC company comes out. The next day Chris and his crew came out to install my new AC. They laid blankets on the floor so not to mess anything up, and wore covers on their shoes. Chris was just as nice and professional. The crew was very professional also. They installed my new unit and when telling me what all they did he mentioned the hard start kit that he installed. I remembered Ed telling me about that so and I asked if he could add a hard start kit to my 2nd unit. Even though his crew had left, he went out to his truck and got his tools and did it for me. Neither one tried to sell me anything I didn't need and I never felt pressured or uncomfortable. I will defiantly tell others about this company and I will call them when my 2nd unit goes out.

September 2012 and December 2012, Before I went onto Angie's List, I called one of those companies you get a coupon in the mail from. You see them in the "Valupaks" every month..... they were no value. They tried to tell me I needed a whole new system worth over $8,000.00. I didn't feel comfortable with the tech because I never saw him go outside to the unit...just to his truck. Then he came back in with option #1, #2 and #3 which started at $8,000.00 and went up. He even advised me of them having finance options through Wells Fargo. Whoa! I was feeling pressure and like I needed a second opinion. I decided to purchase a membership on Angie's List; I looked at the reviews for "All Star" and I called the number. I couldn't believe the owner answered on a Friday evening. I told him the unit wasn't cooling. He asked me some questions and said he would be out at a specific time. Ed, the owner, was on time an one of the nicest people I have ever met. I explained the problem that the unit didn't seem to be coming on outside. He went out did a couple of tests. Fixed my problem and didn't even charge me!!! I believe he wouldn't even charge me the cost of a service call. I asked why? He said, that he felt like the other company was already trying to take advantage of me an I had a hard enough day....I deserved a break. I couldn't believe what he was saying. Ed was professional but, very empathetic to my situation. I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing. he really wasn't going to charge me?? I thanked him profusely. I told him if i had the chance, I would be sending business to him when my friends needed a trust worthy company. Funny, that Saturday one of my best friends ac upstairs went out. I immediately told her about Ed's service and how honest he was. I called Ed told him they would be calling. Sure enough he made them very happy customers as well. December 2012 I needed help again. My house was warm and the unit wasn't coming on outside. I called Ed and he remembered me!! I was shocked. My father, now deceased had been a master plumber and electrician. Ed asked me several questions to diagnose the problem. It turned out that my 6 year old German Shorthaired Pointer chewed through the wire that turned the unit on. So, Ed taught me over the phone how to splice the wires back together and wrap them in electrical tape. It worked!!!! I went back inside turned on the unit and it turned on. Amazing! What other company in this area would walk you through something like this? Ed knew I was going through a divorce and having a hard time with bills. I'm disabled. My money is tight and I am raising a 16 year old son on my own. Ed saw the big picture and was gracious enough to help me help myself. Thank you Ed! You will always have an extremely loyal friend and customer in me. I will always recommend you to my friends and neighbors. I know they can trust you as I can. I contacted All Star AC Services on Saturday, because I was concerned about the noise, and the time it was taking for my furnace to turn on. I spoke with Ed who was very patient with me, as I described what I thought was a problem. He scheduled a Sunday appointment with me, arrived on time, inspected my furnace and assured me that my furnace was working properly. He provided excellent service, and did not charge me extra for weekend service. I will call on them again for all my AC Services, and refer them to my friends & family.

They came out and I paid $2400; they are so good you are almost happy to give them the money. They are excellent. They are really nice and they are honest.

I called All Star after getting an incredibly high quote and hard sell from another company after the other company performed my furnace inspection. While I had mold in the heating and cooling unit and a few other issues, this other company was really pushing some repairs that I thought a bit questionable. After calling Chris and telling him my issues, he offered to come out and take a look. He reviewed the other company's list and explained to me what he thought needed to be done sooner rather than later. He did a much more thorough inspection of the unit and popped off one of the ducts to reveal substantial mold in the plenum, which wasn't noted by the other company because they never took the duct off. Chris explained my alternatives, including the installation of a UV light versus an air purification system to insure the mold didn't come back. There was no hard sell, just simple facts and suggestions. Chris quoted me a price for the work that was about two-thirds of what the other company proposed, with a lot more work being done for the price. Ultimately, my plenum was replaced, the air purification system installed, a new capacitor and float switch were installed, a duct was redone, dampers were installed and the vents were balanced. I couldn't be more pleased with the work Chris and his crew did.

They showed up on time, they were very informative and gave me some pointers. They didn't look to make something bigger than what it was.

I would rate All Star with an A+. They were professional, courteous, and spent all the time needed to explain what was needed to fix the AC problem. Ed told us that we needed to replace our AC coil, how much it would cost, with the Angie "discount", how exactly the work would be done. On the day the coil was installed, the crew was punctual, completed the work seamlessly, cleaned up after finishing the job, and were very cordial and friendly throughout the process. Ed came back later that day to follow-up on the job and to see if all work was completed as stated. This company cares about their business and about their customers and it is evident in everything that they do. I would definitely recommend All Star to anyone looking for a reputable a'c service company.

Ed is great!! He is prompt, friendly and fair. He has done work for me both at my home and business. As a business owner myself I appreciate his professionalism and integrity.

Ed came to our house on time and explained every step very thoroughly. The first time he did for us was to go up to the attic and check our indoor AC unit and the air duct (complimentary). He told me that the air duct was so clean that we can cancel our subsequent air duct cleaning appointment. He was afraid that we would be fooled by the air duct cleaner. He even showed us the coil which was clean & well maintained. He taught us to change air filter each month that way our air duct can be kept clean and we do not need to hire expensive professionals for any cleaning. Then he went out to check the outdoor condensers. He recommended us to install 1 hard-start kit, replace 2 outside emergency shut-off switches (not sure the exact name). Ed has explained why we needed those. He acts like he is very professional and honest to earn our business, plus for the sake of safety, we agreed to go ahead with his suggestions. Ends up we paid $529 which includes the inspection fees of $59 on 1st AC unit and $40 on 2nd AC unit.

They came in early to replace the unit and were through in 4 hours. They put on protective foot wear while in the home and floor protectors. Very professional and considerate. Will definately use them again.

I called All-Star for a second opinion after being told by another a/c company that I needed to replace key components of one of my units (I learned early on to get a second opinion for major a/c repairs, especially in Houston). I spoke with Ed and he confirmed the assessment by the initial company. The reason I decided to go with All Star is because I felt more comfortable about their ability to do the job properly. They were knowledgeable, professional, prompt, and offered me several options to choose from. When you deal with Ed and Chris, you get the feeling that want to do an outstanding job and make sure everything is completed per the agreement. Am I going to use them again? Heck yea!!

We would recommend this company above all others. They are prompt, do not try and sell you unnecessary services, very courteous and professional. We will be using them to do our annual heating and cooling check up.Our bedroom is no longer a sauna thanks to Chris.

The service tech. gave a a courtesy call prior to arriving at our home. Arrived on time, and was very polite. Service was qucik and even offered to change othe filters in our home (we supplied the filters). Yes, I would recommend their services to a friend.

I was impressed with All Stars high recommendation on Angie's list, and was looking forward to having an AC tech I could trust. When I first met Ed, he appeared to be an honest nice guy. He seemed to do a good job and I was happy, until two weeks later we were without AC again. My son was present when he returned and because he's more knowledgeable than I, I asked him to do most of the talking. As it turns out, Ed wasn't able to answer some simple mechanical questions my son asked. It makes me think his nice presentation was to cover up for his lack of knowledge. I almost bought a new AC from him, until my son talked me out of it after Ed left. My son also pointed out that Ed charged me $243 to install a $43 kit, which took 15 minutes or less to install. My son also thinks he may damaged the furnace during his first visit, which resulted in us having to call him back. Although he didn't charge me for the second visit (because he thought I was going to buy a new AC from him) I decided to no longer use his services. One thing I found irritating was his constant reassurance that he wasn't like most AC guys who try to rip off their customers. This should have been a clue that something wasn't right. I don't give him a lower score than a C, because I'm no expert on air conditioners and my son's a tough critic. However, I heard enough to feel I had been taken for a bit of a ride and cannot in good conscience give him an A or B.

Fast response -- much faster than other services that claimed 24/7 service. Professional and efficient.

Air conditioner went out on a very hot Saturday morning. Tech was on-site and had unit operational within 1.5 hours. The replacement parts were on the truck. A particulary outstanding result given that it was a very hot July weekend. The tech was very knowledgeable and courteous.

I called Chris with AllStar AC and Heating at 8PM and was amazed that someone answered and I was not directed to a call center or a machine. I explained that my outside unit was damaged and not operating. Chris promptly setup an appointment for the following morning to come and troubleshoot my problem. afterlooking at and assesing the unit he advised that it was unrepairable which I assumed was going to be the case since it had been shot with a arrow. ( It was an accident but thankfully nobody was hurt ). Chris built three options for us to choose from and when asked what he would do he honestly answered and explained that the cheapest of the three was that smartest option and what he would do if it were him. I felt confident that he was being truthful. Chris then left to pickup all of the replacement parts and installed them the same day. We had our Air Conditioner fixed in less than 24 hours of it being broke. Chris and All Star AC and Heating are a trustworthy and honest company that will recieve a referall from me anytime I get the chance.

My unit turned off and would not start. All Star came out and found the problem immediately. The drain line was clogged and the overflow sensor was tripped. They showed me how to correct the problem on my own if it happens again. What a wonderful experience.I highly recommend this company.

I cannot say enough good things about this man. I called Ed on Thursday with my problem and we set up an appointment for Friday. He called the next morning to confirm and arrived promptly as scheduled. Within 30 seconds of speaking with him I knew he was a great guy. I explained my problem and he went straight to work. He covered his shoes to protect the carpet and then covered the floor below the attic stairs to protect that. About 20 minutes later he came down and told me what he had found, drain pan with hole in it about the size of a cantalope, pipes clogged and no glue connecting them, the evaporator coils sitting in the drip pan and so on. We agreed on the price and again he went straight to work (after a trip to the local AC supply store). He returned with the supplies and after about 1 1/2 hours he came down with the job finished. He told me about the pipes not having adhesive on them and that's why I had a slow leak above my bathroom ceiling. He saved me hundreds of $$ in drywall repairs by just finding that problem. There is no price you can pay for honesty. This man crawled around my filthy, dirty attic for over an hour in at least 120 degree heat fixing the neglect of the previous owner. (I would never take the blame as I am new to the Home Owner business!!) He told me never to use bleach to clear the line clogged with algae but to use vinegar. Hello!! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that bleach is a corrosive and will eat through metal but my dim brain never put the two together, it also dissoved the glue connecting the PVC pipes. After all was said and done he showed me the rotted drip pan; boy was I Iucky to not have more damage to my ceiling. Ed dried up the water that was there and also moved the wet insulation from spots so that it could dry out to inhibit mold from growing. He checked the coils and told me they were clean, another worry off my shoulders. When it was time to settle the bill he gave me the discount stated and I was even happier. I repeat, I cannot say enough great things about Ed. He is honest, knowlegable, courteous, friendly, thorough and an all around good guy. I will recommend him highly to anyone I know. He is my new AC guy for as long as I stay in Houston.

The repairman came out July 3rd and serviced our air conditioning unit. During the visit, he noticed that the control box of our second unit was a type that was notorious for heating up and melting the wires inside. Because the unit was working and the problem usually only occurred when the relay was turned off, he recommended leaving it in service until it actually went out, but left his business card with me just in case. Unfortunately, the control panel went out that evening and the following day was July 4th. I thought it would be difficult to get them back on a holiday to change out the control panel. Not only did the owner come out on the holiday and replace the panel box, he refunded our service call payment for the previous day's work!!! Now I know why this company is so highly recommended on Angie's list! Thank you Ed and Chris - customer service like this is tough to match - you are a First Class Operation!

Overall the experience went well given the short notice and that it was a weekend when the AC was out. All Star attempted to find a replacement AC compressor over the weekend but parts warehouse was closed. All star was able to find a part and came out Monday promptly and installed in a few hours. All Star was very helpful when I asked questions about how the system worked. They also installed a surge protector since I tend to get a lot of black outs in my neighborhood. I would recommend All Star AC service and will use them as my primary AC service. My compressor was 18 years old and was due to fail. All Star did not just come out and say "you need a new AC unit" but trouble shot the issue and make a resonable recommendation. They were prompt and arrived as promised. Thanks All star AC!!! Nathan

Don't hesitate just give them a call! When our downstairs AC unit quit working I went on Angie's List and after looking at reviews I chose All Star. I called them the following morning and they were there after lunch. I was concerned because I knew the unit was old, ( we have only been here a few years ) and was expecting to be told that it was shot and had to be replaced. Well after Ed and Chris looked at it I found out that it was 30 years old! Quickly they determined it was a capacitor replaced it and the unit was running again. They checked it over and added two pounds of freon and it was working great. They also serviced the upstairs unit. Their honesty about the fact that our 30 year old unit was working fine and that they did not try to sell us something that we did not need is a rare find. I do not mind paying someone to do the work when I know they are honest about what needs to be done. I am planning on having them back to give me an estimate on replacing this unit in the fall when it will be more convenient. Again if you are concerned about paying for repairs that don't need to be done give these gentlemen a call.
