All Star A/C & Heating Services

All Star A/C and Heat has done repairs, maintenance and maintenance plans for many of my clients, as well as on my own properties. 3 times in the last several months, I have had All Star out to homes that had A/C issues and the owner's home warranty company had told them that hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars of uncovered repairs were needed. All Star has found those issues to be nonexistent and only very minor repairs were needed. All Star has always been very truthful, honest and thorough with inspections, repair summaries and customer service. HIGHLY recommend!

My A/C quit working sometime during the night, I called All Star at about 7:15am Monday morning (Labor Day by the way) and left a message, Ed called me back and was at my house by 8am and had me up and running by 8:30am. In my message I explained that I have Breast Cancer and am currently undergoing chemotherapy and just can't take the heat, Ed's prompt response and quick service have made me a fan for life. I wouldn't hesitate to use them for any A/C or heating job I need handled; and I will recommend them to everyone I know. I am forever grateful for the way they handled my situation. Thanks Ed!

Ed was real professional. He was the most honest A/C repairman we ever had. Did find the problem promptly and did not try to tell us that we needed more work done or needed a new A/C. I am an older woman and some prior repairmen always found ways to add expenses. Ed deserves an A+, I will use him again as the need arises. I strongly recommend him to anyone who needs A/C repairs in Houston.

The services were delivered as stated with minimal time and effort, on my behalf. I'm extremely satisfied All Star A/C and Heating and will use them in the future, as well as highly recommend them to other Angie's list members.

Ed and his crew were punctual, clean, very friendly, and price was reasonable. Ed went above and beyond most other contractors to explain things and tell me exactly what I needed without any assurance that I would use him. He even did a little tinkering with the system when giving us our free estimate (many companys charge a fee to just come out and give an estimate). Most shockingly, they didn't even collect a payment for the system until he came back a week later to make sure everything was working correctly! I will definitely use them again.

I am with American Home Shield. They sent out a terrible company who turned in a claim to AHS that my husband broke the unit. Of course, the tech would not dare tell me he had done such a thing! It was absolutely a lie and AHS was off scott free! This terrible company really thought we would pay them the full amount to do the job. They got their $75 for 10 minutes of looking and AHS offered to send another (probably loser) company for a second opinion so we could spend another $75 for nothing. I've had AHS for 15 years and this is the way they operate now. Obviously, this is the end for them. Years ago, when I lived in Copperfield, I remembered a very good company that was with them and would do my A/C service....All Star A/C & Heating. I called them and Ed came out pronto. It was the board as diagnosed, but he agreed there was no way my husband had anything to do with it's malfunction. I was really afraid that I might get the news it was time to replace the unit, but, no, Ed said, "Not yet." Wow, he told me the truth! I really like Ed and Chris, and trust them completely. It's hard to find honesty and a good work ethic anywhere in the service industry, but in A/C and heating I have found a company I can rely on to tell me the truth and do the job correctly. 2 thumbs up for All Star A/C and Heating!

Ed is great at what he does. We have used him to do routine service on our AC/Furnace units and he is always punctual and professional. On this occasion we had been told by another vendor (provided free from Village Builders as part of our home warranty) that one, maybe two of our three Trane AC units was going bad and would need to be replaced (no charge on units as Village would cover those, but we would have to pay for labor). This was our last shot at getting things covered on our warranty before it ran out, but this sounded fishy. We called Ed and he agreed it didn't sound right for relatively new Trane units. He said he'd be by the next day. When he came he showed me everything to look for and determined that nothing was wrong with the units. They were in great shape. He then proceeded to refuse payment because he said we was already in the area. I'm blown away by this guy. He has also helped me out via phone when he was in the middle of another call and wouldn't not have been able to get to us until late that night or the next day. The help he gave me fixed the problem. No need for him to come by. He refused payment for the phone advice. What can I say? We will use him for EVERYTHING.

Ed (the owner) was here. I had a contract with John Moore and the night before John moore's plumber and restoration techs came out and gave me an estimate of approx. $2000.00 to repair that was without the a/c tech who would charge for a new pan. my husband and I are disabled and on a fixed income. I am also 65 yrs old. I was in tears when I heard the estimate. we didn't have that kind of money. The tech was rude and said if I didn't pay just turn off the a/c and he was done. he said I needed so much work done and I had already paid them $529.00 the year before for the same part. nothing is ever covered by the warranty they give. Well I didn't sleep all night and I remember my friend telling me about Ed at All Star. I called him at 9:30 AM and he promised he would be here in an hour. He certainly was. He went into the attic and described exactly what was wrong and it was a clog in the drainage pipe. Ed said he could fix it within 15 min and it really was not a big job. He explained about the leak in my ceiling and who I could call for that to get fixed. The fee that the other company was charging was WAY too high. Ed completed the job and was such a pleasant person to deal with. He looked at me and my husband and said... I could get about $200. for this job but I am waiving the whole amount as you and your husband have been through enough and have laid out so much money in the past year (he asked to see our papers as to see what exactly had been done and the estimates) from John Moore. Ed felt it would be unfair to charge us. He asked if we belonged to Angies list and we did not...so he asked if we would please join and that would be payment enough I cannot believe that there is light beyond the tunnel and he was our Angel in disguise. He also put in a special over flow gauge so if this happened again the unit would turn off and not overflow and cause a leak or flood. If the unit turned off he instructed we call him and he would know exactly what the problem was then. All the unfair and over priced estimates we got from John Moore are a thing of the past. I am staying with Ed at All Star and I highly recommend him to friends, relatives, and anyone else who needs a good, fair, and compassionate businessman. Wish they had more of him around. I am sure I will be happy with Angie's List . Ed also recommended a good painter and electrician from your list. Thank you for letting me express my feelings Eddie & Ruth Tai

He was very good. He found the problem with our air conditioning system that we’ve had. When we called him out for air conditioning, we were unhappy with the person we had called before and we pulled him. He did a great job with the air conditioner. He recommended something extra to elongate the lights of the air conditioner. He wasn’t pushy about it. He just made a recommendation. He said if I don’t want to do it, it’s fine but it would help my air conditioning system. He wasn’t trying to sell us more than what we needed but he made the recommendation and we decided to go forward with it. So when it was time to get the furnace checked, we had him come back out and do the furnace check as well. When he did the air conditioning and when he came back out and fix the furnace, he gave us a discount because we were Angie’s List customers.

We obtained quotes for our job from 3 separate companies. All Star was the highest, and we debated about how to proceed. After investigation and careful consideration, we decided to pay the extra money believing that we would receive quality work, professionalism and attention to detail in exchange for the higher price. We were not disappointed. I highly recommend this company for a/c and heating needs. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was right with our job.

Checked out ok I was told units looked ok. Good news no extra work found But a month later had a major expensive repair on one unit

I am very pleased with the service. The serviceman came to my house at the exact time he said he would be there. He was pleasant and courteous and worked quickly. I am a single woman and I am constantly worried about handymen, plumbers and mechanics taking advantage of me. I don't know how to fix these things, which makes me very vulnerable to being taken advantage of. He explained to me everything that he was doing and how it would save me money. Another service man would probably have told me I needed a new unit and charged me up to a few thousand dollars. I would not have been able to afford that. This man, named Ed Newby, was a genuinely nice.guy. He taught me about the hard start kit and how it would make my house cooler and make the ac unit run quicker while utilizing LESS energy. My house immediately cooled down and the unit outside is much quieter than it normally is. Then he gave me tips on how to make sure my ac unit lasts longer. Not only did he save me money fixing my unit, I also will be saving money each month on my electric bill. It is so refreshing to deal with someone that is actually trustworthy and looking out for the best needs of the consumer. Like I said, as a single woman, I am at the mercy of these "men" and I am so grateful I found someone that is going to fix things correctly PLUS charge me the least expensive price. I looked up the consumer prices of the parts, plus labor and the increased cost of freon. I got a very good deal! And now my house is cool again. I highly recommend Ed Newby and Allstar AC and Heating Services.

Quickly called before coming professional service.

Overall a great experience. The technician arrived on time and performed a diagnostic test on my ac units. Nothing more. Will request additional services in the future.

I originally contacted Ed Newby, of All Star Heating & Air to perform a seasonal check on the air conditioning unit. I had used a company in the past ( name withheld) and did not have them come back because their check-up price seemed ridiculous. Ed came out, super nice guy, and called me into the attic within 10 min. of being here. I had two problems. One being a huge cut had been made into the side of the unit so that someone could gain access to the coil and two being it had caused MOLD to grow inside the unit. He laid it out there for me...........I needed it to be replaced to keep the mold from spreading, the unit from having this hole in it so I'm no longer cooling my attic and an ultra violet light to keep mold away. I was so surprised with this crappy news but none the less it had to be replaced. Long story short. My unit is still under warranty with nameless company. Nameless company and builder will pay for a new unit to be installed because nameless technicians cut a hole into the unit because I had a Freon leak. I call Ed to give him the update and to let him know he will no longer be doing the install. What does he say? GOOD for YOU! That is exactly what I would do!! I was so surprised at his response (kinda, I had already met him). I told him then to send me a bill for the initial findings and he said that it was ok, that he was just happy I had the problem taken care of?? What???? No, this guy is not crazy!!! He's honest, hard working, nice and genuinely cares about his customers!!!!! People, you don't find this very often. If you are looking for an honest heating and cooling guy......this is it! When my warranty ends with nameless company I will be using ED NEWBY from All Star Heating & Air!!

Since both my husband and I work fulltime, we scheduled several different people to come out and service the house (AC / Heater, Duct Cleaning, Carpet Cleaning) one week day. I took two half days off from work, since that?s how the appointment worked out. All AC was our last service scheduled on 2nd day. When they didn't show by 10:30 am (window of 8-12,) I called Ed. Apparently there was a mix up with scheduling and he was running late. They said they wouldn't be able to come until 1, which wouldn't have worked since I had to back to work. We cancelled for that day and said we will call to reschedule. To reschedule my husband and I left at least 3 message and never got a call back. Finally we were able to set up another appointment. This time everything went well and on time. They provided a lot of details about what was needed. We will be reusing them because the service was great, hopefully there wouldn't be any schedule mistake.

I called this AM and Ed happened to be close by. Although today was Monday and they had a full schedule, he took time out to come by and provide great service! He found the issue and fixed it in about half an hour. I have used them once before and got great same day service, great pricing, and Ed was very personable and friendly. He even gave us a discount for using them through Angie's List. I would definitely use them again. Sometimes you get a company that sees a female customer and they try to take advantage...I did not feel treated this way AT ALL. I would recommend them to any of my friends and neighbors! Thanks Ed!!!

He was very nice. Said I reminded him of his mother, and charged me nothing!

Went well - very responsive and arrived in 2 days after contact. Answered all questions and was fairly priced. Also helped with an electrician when an issue came up, and scheduled the appointment for us.

Chris came out the same afternoon I called, which was a pleasant surprise. He was able to diagnose and repair our split system quickly, charging for the service call and for the Freon recovery (our unit had too much Freon, which has to be removed and given to a third party for recycling). Plan to use this company again for annual service.

Service was never performed. He did not answer my phone calls.

Had part on truck, had my a/c running again in less than 10 min. Came out on a Sunday, did not charge outrageous prices like other big name a/c companies(John Moore, Church Services)

Ed was great. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He got the job done quickly and was very honest about possible repair costs. I would happily use them again.

My AC condenser unit kept going out over a course of a few hours. After turning it off for 30 minutes and hosing it down, I turned the unit back on but the fan was not running. I had called my home warranty company and they told me I couldn't get on the schedule for another 48 hours!! (Houston is way too hot to wait that long!) I called All Star after reading several reviews on Angie's List and decided to have them come out. I left a message and within 7 minutes, Ed called me back and said that he would be able to come to my house within 45 minutes. He came out and told me there could be a few different things wrong but would check everything before replacing. So it ended up being a few things wrong and Ed was able to fix everything in about 45 minutes. He gave me a GREAT price on all the services and I was back up and running after a rough morning!
