All Star A/C & Heating Services

I called on Monday. Made an appointment for Tuesday. Ed arrived on time and got right to work diagnosing and solving the problems with the A/C unit. Pricing was fair and he applied a 10% discount because I belong to Angies list.

I spoke with with three different employees, including Chris and Ed, and they were all nice, professional, knowledgeable, and very responsive. Chris methodically diagnosed the problem and then thoroughly explained what had happened and what needed to be done. I had been told by another vendor that the system needed to be replaced for a cost of more than $5,000. Chris fixed it for $733, including tax. They have created a very effective team, and I would happily recommend them to anyone.

It was awesome. They kind of work with me on the pricing and everything. It was tricky because they couldn't really do the evaluation because the wiring was bad, but I felt like they gave me a pretty sure deal on getting everything fixed. The pricing was good.

All Star A/C came out quickly and helped to resolve the issue so that we no longer had water leaking into our ceiling. They did this while I was halfway across the country and helped my wife to calm down and not stress about the situation.

Extremely well. Had 4pm appt., Chris called 45 min. earlier to say he could be there 20 min. ahead of schedule if was okay. Quickly diagnosed problem and repaired the system. It was blowing cold air before 4pm!

It was great! He was prompt, friendly and very professional! We will be using them in the future and will recommend them as well. Job Well Done!

I was very impressed by Allstar. Our AC unit died during the weekend, and we were worried about getting someone to come out. I was able to get Ed (one of the owners) on the phone Saturday, and he spent nearly 45 minutes with me on the phone discussing the options I had. He was very knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions. I had four other quotes, and his price was very competitive with those quotes. The crew that came out was very good, and worked very hard in hot conditions to get our AC fixed. It was easy to work with them, and they listened to our concerns. They ended up working late into the night to get the work done, and I cannot thank them enough. We highly recommend this company. They delivered on their promises, and actually came in under the initial quote.

Ed was very quick to respond, even late on a Saturday night. I live in NY and my tenant in Katy, TX called me to let me know the AC was not cooling after he and his wife had just gotten back from the hospital with their new born. Ed, at All Star AC/Heating was very understanding and quickly responded and kept me informed of all of the details and costs. He did his best to give me the best deal he could. I would highly recommend him and use him again!

My downstairs unit was making a banging noise when it was starting. After it ran for a couple of minutes the noise would go away. Chris did a complete inspection of the unit and determined that is was just low on freon. Chris added the freon and and checked for leaks again and tightened the service caps. Chris also checked the upstairs unit and found that is was also low on freon. Chris was on time and answered all my questions, very professionally. I had Chris give me an estimate to install a small return air return duct in my upstairs home office. They came back on 5-2-14 and installed the return air duct. Again, they were on time and completed the work in about 1 1/2 hours. The service call was completed in about 2 hours. Chris added the freon and answered all my questions. The return air duct install was a very pleasant experience. They installed the return air vent and cleaned up all of their mess. Very professional installation. I was impressed in that they removed their shoes before entering the house. I am very happy with the work performed and would highly recommend them. I will use them for all my air conditioning needs in the future.

Replaced capacitor, AC now works great.

It went awesome! This is the second time I've used All Star AC and I will not use any other company in the future! The way this repair came about was from a special I signed up for to have a Summer AC check up done by another company. The company that came out to do the AC check up told me my Capacitor was bad and that I needed a pound of freon. Their quote for doing this was $380.00. I know AC repairs can be expensive so I nearly authorized the work to be done with this other company but I followed my gut feeling and called Ed with All Star AC first to get his estimated quote. I told him what the other company told me I needed done (but not their price). I was happily shocked to get the quote from Ed because it was less than half of the other company's quote. Ed with All Star came out and confirmed that I needed a new Capacitor but when he checked the freon level he told me it was good (no freon needed=more savings). Ed with All Star AC saved me a lot of money and being a single parent it was a blessing. The work was done accurately and quickly. He is so great about explaining everything to you and answering any questions you have. I highly recommend All Star AC Heat & Home!!

We are a non-profit dog training club. One of our a/c units quit working a few days before our 3-day obedience dog show. I waited 5 days for our usual a/c tech, but he was too busy to come. As a member of Angie's List, I looked for a company in our area of town (Spring Branch) and found All Star A/C. My call was immediately answered and made the appointment with very helpful staff. Chris went out of his way to make an early morning visit (7:30am) the very next day. The problem was very simple, a thermostat bad battery. But it was diagnosed and fixed in minutes. Thank goodness, because we had a full house at the dog show and not having the a/c working would have been a disaster. Thanks to All Star, who by the way are dog lovers too.

My 20-year-old A/C unit wasn't blowing cold air. I thought it was a matter of adding coolant, but two A/C companies told me the entire system (including condenser and furnace) was in danger of collapsing any day and in need of replacement. Their quotes for a base-level package (3-ton 13 SEER) ranged from $5-7k. Luckily I sought out a third opinion. Chris from All-Star inspected the admittedly aging system and reported that the situation was not so dire. The main concerns were the capacitor and start-up mechanism, which he replaced ($280 total) and that there was actually an excess of coolant. If I recall correctly, he explained that the unit would not require as much "juice" and had the potential of remaining operational for several more years. Music to my ears! I highly recommend All-Star.

My request was for hvac pm service and to check an see why my ac has a foul smell. Tech came out and found nothing wrong and did nothing. He told us to poor bleach down the drain line and that would clear the smell. A week later the smell is still here and it is making me sick. So basically we paid $59.00 dollars for nothing. Now I have to get another company out here to see what is wrong. The tech was friendly, but he seemed to be in a rush; he was in my home for only a few minutes, which is why he did not find out what was wrong.

Actually All Star was my second call. The first was to an A/C company I've done business with for years. But this time I just felt I needed another opinion. I didn't think a system losing freon warranted replacing the whole system The original quote from my long time provider was $8,000!!! Boy, am I glad I called All Star!!! Ed and Chris were just great. Not only were they able to come at a time that was covenient for me but they agreed that I didn't need a whole new system. I just needed to replace the leaking evaporater coil. They were very nice and professional. I will definitely be calling them first in the future. I have already recommended them to one of my friends and would recommend them to anyone looking for A/C service.

The job went really well. Ed and his crew took the time to do a full assessment prior to their quote (other contractors didn't spend anymore than 20 minutes before quoting). Ed was very responsive. He answered a lot of questions prior to us deciding on going with All Star. We ended up having the work done over spring break while we were out of town. Ed's crew was very trustworthy and they left the place in perfect order when we got back. We had one issue for follow up and Ed was very responsive. Overall great experience. The price was competitive with the other quotes (within $500) and the service was excellent.

Our 13 yr old A/C unit went out on a Saturday evening. Luckily, it was during a cool period. We took our time selecting a company and after reading the reviews on Angie's List we decided to contact Ed to get a quote for service. Of the three we got, his was the best so we selected All Star. However, our decision was not based soley on price but also the responsiveness and professionalism that was shown from the very first phone call. The team arrived the day after we selected All Star. They were courteous and conscientious about working in the house and outside. While I was not there for the entire install, my mother-in-law was and she was very happy with the manner in which the team worked. There was no damage to house or property and I came home to a wonderfully cool house. We would certainly call Ed and team again! They were an absolute pleasure to work with.

I hired Allstar AC to perform some work at my parents? home late last year. Even though they had to travel 70+ miles through Houston traffic, they were on time. ED Newby was the representative that took care of my folks. He walked them through all their options, never attempting to take advantage of them or their position. The heating work came first; with the onset of winter fast approaching they performed the work the day of the quote, replacing the entire system. I could not afford to have all the work done at one time so Ed was gracious enough to honor a discounted price for both AC and heating repairs, even though the AC repairs would not occur until March 2014 and allowed me to pay for the services separately. Ed and his crew epitomized the picture of professionalism. They were kind and courteous to my parents in addition to being knowledgeable of their trade and having impeccable housekeeping skills (maintaining their work area and cleaning up after). In conclusion, this has to be, by far, the best contractor I have hired from the list and the only contractor that I would hire again. For some perspective; I've hired (2013-2014) the top carpenter/painter/plumber from the list to perform work in my home and was sorely disappointed each time. Poor workmanship, lack of knowledge (I had to show them in some cases) and a general lack of professionalism seemed to be a hallmark of Angie's List top rated firms. In all three cases, the contractors were paid and released prior to completing their assignment due to poor workmanship. This left my wife and I to rework the jobs performed by these contractors and to finish the jobs ourselves, which negated the point for which they werer hired; we did not have time to do it.

I had an excellent experience with All Star A/C. They are a team of all stars. Ed (the owner) accessed my needs and gave me a very fare price to perform the A/C service (April 25, 2014). The cost was lower than others had bid. Ed then had his installation team come in on Saturday, April 26th to complete the installation. John and his partner arrived and immediately started working on the repairs. Ed dropped in to make sure everything was going as planned. John completed all the repair in less than 2 hours. Both John and Ed are true professionals. The work they performed was excellent. This company and their worker are professional, honest, friendly and hard working. I highly recommend them if you have any A/C or Heating problems.

Chris came in at the appointed time and replaced the supply plenum. He installed a new media filter and a UV light to keep the mold from returning. He also said I needed duct work done but stated that his company did not have the equipment to perform the work, so he recommended that a friend of his do the job. I set up another appointment on 4/23 for Chris to replace the filter and install a UV light. The duct work is still pending due to a work conflict, but I plan to have it done in about three weeks. Chris is well qualified for his profession and has excellent customer service skills. He is personable, polite, arrives on time, and gets to work immediately. He always kept me apprised of what needed to be done to improve the efficiency of my A/C, never adding on additional charges that I was unaware of. He was clear as to why he thought additional work was necessary, and it made sense to me. My A/C is 14 years old, and my goal is to have it running at maximum efficiency so can extend its life before having to purchase a new one.. I would strongly recommend All Star to others because of the quality of the work performed and the knowledge their technicians have about A/C and heating. I also like the fact that they can be reached after hours in an emergency, and if there is one, a technician can take care of the problem the same evening.

This is one of the best experiences we've had with any company coming into our house to complete a job. The whole experience was awesome from the get-go. I called Ed on Sunday and he came out to give us an estimate that same morning. He checked stuff out and was very gracious...he told us what we needed without overselling us, seemed to be very knowledgeable in his trade, was up front and just a nice, nice guy. We agreed on what needed to be done and the price. I said "how soon can you do it?" He said "tomorrow"...perfect. The two guys he sent to the house were prompt, very nice, and competent. The amount of time it took to install everything took about seven hours...and it was done right the FIRST time (wow). Ed came out a couple of times in the days that followed to make sure everything was perfect...checking to make sure his guys did everything right...and they did. He himself even did a little extra for us that he didn't have to do. Best customer service I've seen for many years. He runs his business with integrity and it's proof positive with all the great reviews he's had and the success of his business. We felt good about Ed right off the bat and he came through with everything he promised. Note: I always expect to be disappointed in people and dealings with them...not with Ed...he takes pride in his work and it was sooooo refreshing. I even felt proud writing him the check for his services...lol. We won't be calling anyone else. Thanks, again All Star!

Very easy to schedule. Very prompt. Called and asked if could come 30 minutes early as in area. Perfect for me! Very cordial and professional. Took time to explained everything well. No pressure. Explained we could replace capacitors now or wait until they go out at a later time. Very careful not to get dirt in house. Very careful with our wood floors and attic ladder. I would use again.
