There were some initial hiccups and delays; the wrong size boxes were installed, and it took a while to get that corrected. However, the final product, two custom-made wrought iron boxes, are quite beautiful. The initial work didn't include plants but due to the delays, AJ included them for free. AJ is a very nice person.

From the beginning, they did not act in a professional way. They ruined all the lighting and sprinkler systems, my plants, everything in the backyard when they started the project. It went from bad to worse. They dug up our whole backyard to put in a spa and then they did the landscaping. The spa does not work right. It leaks. Our water bill is over $300 a month because there is a leak. We can not find the leak. We are so disgusted with them. My husband told them not to set foot on our property again. Anyways, I have this spa that all the concrete that surround it and holds the bricks in place. The ground is coming out and there is holes in it. And there is no way I can get into the spa. They did not put any railing around it. They did not put the right kind of steps. I have had spas before I know what they are supposed to be like. We had pavers all around our house. When they took up the pavers on one side and put them back, they put them back too low and we have standing water on the side of our house. So, we are going to have get someone to come in and repair all of this work after we spent that kind of money. It is bad, really bad. I have used them in the past on two different houses and they did a excellent job. I don't know what is going on with them but they have no business building pools and spas. They don't know how to do it. I would never use them again.

My contract with AJ's stipulated that they were to perform 42 yard services a year. Beginning in March of every year, the service would be weekly. By mid June, we had identified 9 instances when we believed that AJ's did not show up to perform contractually required services. We save the maintenance sheets they provide and there were 9 days missing. We were at home some of these days and know that they did not come by. AJ's failed to provide evidence of this service even when asked on numerous occasions. This request was made to their general maintenance e-mail, to T Polk and to Javier. After an initial e-mail expressing concern on this issue, we did not receive a response to the e-mail. When we followed up with a phone call three days later, we were told that no one had read our e-mail yet. The failure to perform services or to provide evidence that they did is the most serious issue. However, over the course of our relationship we were also disappointed in other things. The contract also requires periodic fertilization. AJ's never provided evidence of doing this service even when asked about it. After some plants died during the winter frost, they did not offer to replace them or note this on the maintenance sheets we do have. The same things happened with a plant infestation: this was never mentioned in any summaries of our yard. We had to bring it to AJ's attention. There were also dead spots in our grass which they never mentioned to us and which they could not explain when we pointed them out. In the past, we had caught their personnel urinating in our yard. There was also damage to our garage, presumably from a lawnmower. AJ's never responded to requests to discuss and resolve this issue. Finally, after cancelling the service, AJ's tried to charge us for work in subsequent months.

They were fantastic - the design was excellent and they really listened to what we wanted. They came when scheduled and took care of everything. They even transplanted several existing plants in our front yard to an area in our backyard to cut down on waste. I would highly recommend them!

Called AJ's out to bid on a fairly large job on our home (drainage, new deck, siding repairs, general landscaping). Initial representative showed up on time but never followed up with quotes and estimates. I guess they did not want our business! It would have been polite if they followed up with response. Perhaps they were too busy or not equipped to manage a drainage project for a residential lot?

Aja is challenged to provide the service they charge for. They have high turnover and a lack of strong management. In two years they lost my keys three times. Our contract called for application of fertilizers to keep the plants healthy. I have not had much bloom in the past two years. They apply sweet green fertilizer, but so irregularly that it does not appear to be on a schedule. My plants appear to be in survival mode so they appear to need more than what was provided. I wanted the service they contractually offered.

They were good at the yard pruning, shaping, and general maintenance. They just didn't earn the significant premium they charge for the fertilization and plant care they promised.

I would use them again if they provided a detailed plan of what they would do to care for my yard and held their employees accountable for the plan.

They are great. They're thorough and attentive to detail. They run a big operation and have specialists for every type of work. They are very versatile.

AJs is fabulous! If they see something that needs to be addressed, you are notified. If you need something special like mulching or sodding, they will give you a quote and wait for your reply. Their communication is very responsive. I never waited for a reply it seemed like. They always showed up on time. Did their work perfectly. Their team of people when they arrive are very professional. They get straight to work. If you are home, they will discuss anything with you - if they see something or you see something. They always leave an update in your mailbox on what they did on that visit.
I used them weekly from February 2014 to present. While they are a bit pricey, they are worth it. I have never had to complain about anything. In fact, they go above and beyond. I couldn't be happier.

He is very responsive and most courteous. Kalib, the person that handles the irrigation audit process has very good communication skills and does his follow-up. Both gentlemen GET THE JOB DONE!

It has been my pleasure to have this TOP NOTCH COMPANY assist in putting in my front yard! The project went very well. Though there were small mistakes, but AJ always tried his best to fix the mistakes. People who are working for him also very professional. Very polite. Lots of good ideas......
We had a project with AJ 10 tens ago for similar amount as we did 10 years later. Because his professional, 10 years we worked together again.
Currently, AJ takes our landscape on weekly base. Though the price is pretty high, it is worth. They do spend their time to take care of your yard.

Good design, poor execution and quality and superficial communication.

It was hard to set up an appt. he was busy on other jobs in area far from where I live

I hired AJs landscape despite a very high price and warnings from others. I was soon sorry that I did. They showed up and created a mess in my garage and never cleaned up after themselfs, also stold my Garage door openers and wired my garage lighting to the garage door so I had to leave the lights on for the door to open. They parked trucks and equipment in the neighbors driveways and blocked entries. This contractor not only did not follow the letter or intent of the contract but never came back and finished the work, then liened the property and never came back. Starting with a mistake by the designer I had to change from an acid washed concrete to a slippery travertine tile. The irrigation zones were miscalculated and they attempted to upcharge me for that AND the tile. They removed landscape materials and lost them promissed to return them but never did. They argued that, even though the job was not finished and major repairs were needed they wanted payment in full or they would not warranty the work. The pump on the pool went out after 90 days, the light failed as well, they refused to fix them. They failed to install self locking mechanisims on the gates, promissed to put them on but never came back. They arbitrarily changed out plants without my approval, only installed half of the drainage i paid for and despite a punch list delivered on items that I asked to be finished, they stated they were working on it but never returned to finish.
1) The proposed self closing mechanism on the gates is a bolt tied to a string
2) They installed the gate on the rear backwards
3) They did not clean up the yard, debris or garage
4) I was asked for more money twice for tile and irrigation because of contractor mistakes
5) The plants were not what was contracted
6) The painting was not as contracted and as of today they could not get me what I have asked for
7) The gate next to the pool equipment as installed prior to the pool equipment being instlled and now does not open, restricting access, they came and broke off half of the slab with a sledge hammer and covered it with rocks!
8) I paid for 2 brass drains, got 1
9) I pair for 5 9X9 drains and got 3
10) I ordered a 6 foot privacy hedge behind the pool consisting of Bright and Tight Cherry Laurel and got it replace with a small 3 foot hedge of Japanease yew

I scheduled an appointment for an estimate and could tell immediately that this job had no interest to this company. I wanted my yard cleaned up of old plants, ground turned up with organic compost added , refreshed soil and topped with bark mulch. I marked all the plants to be removed. I am an herbalist and had plans for that actual planting. The on site estimate was ridiculous and they never called back with an actual cost work up. I wasted my time and they made me feel foolish asking for the work I wanted. They were more interested in giving me a $30000 pool renovation. NOT

We fully intend to have AJ's proceed with the landscaping work once we re-configure the irrigation system.

As others have noted their prices are high. However we liked the design and continued to work with the designer to better fit our budget. They were very accommodating to that process. They reused our flagstone and pavers into the new design. Ultimately we had AJ's do the hardscape (pavers and flagstone paths), flagstone planting walls (benches), lighting, irrigation, sod, and prepare the beds, and we did the planting following their design and often following their suggested plants. The paver and flagstone work is elements that we continue to be thrilled with. The craftmen were meticulous and the curved layouts and benches are lovely. When workers inadvertently removed several bushes that we had wanted to keep, AJ's immediately replaced them with shrubs from their stock that were twice the size and quality of the ones they removed. In general they were responsive to concerns that arose.
