We decided to get a dog, we selected a breeder from the web, she did a whole interview process, and we fostered a couple of dogs from her that needed a home.  The dogs were old and we kept them while they were being bred by her.  She breeds soft coated wheaten terriers, that's the breed of the dogs we had, and it was a wonderful program.  We've always tried to work with someone like that, she understands the whole genetic process in breeding animals, she has such a conviction about getting rid of the puppy mills, and she wants to put them out of business.  We worked around her schedule, when they needed to be groomed, we took them back, she groomed them, took care of the dogs shots, and we didn't have to pay anything.  When she interviewed us, she wanted to make sure we had a good, positive environment, she came out to my house, interviewed us, told us how to brush them, groom them, and was concerned about making the right fit.  When she sells her dogs, her price is competitive.  She tries to breed out the deficiencies like hip dysplasia and things like that.
