David did all of that work in just the span of one week!  He was working 15 hour days for 7 days!  I couldn't find anyone to do this work here in North Carolina.  You get an estimate and a bid, and you never hear from them again!  David is an exceptional artisan, because he can take an idea, and make outstanding recommendations with materials, colors, and design.  I would use David again in a heart beat.  I would give him A Pluses across the board!

Overall the job went very well. The crew showed up on time and began working immediately. They were careful to cover things around the area because the tile was not coming out easily and was just chipping out in small pieces. Because the tile was so difficult to pull out, there were areas where the sheet rock came out with it, so they had to tear out all the sheet rock and completely replace that also. Because of that, it took them a little longer to complete the job, but only a few extra hours. They let the tile sit overnight and returned the next morning to grout and put back any woodwork around the fireplace that was removed initially. (Keep in mind they do NOT do paint touch up. I knew this before hand, so waited to call my painter until after this work was completed. The area around the fireplace did get marred up enough that paint is necessary.) Dave Phillips, the owner, is very hands on and he was here a good part of the time ensuring the work was done correctly. There was a descrepency on how the front lip of the fireplace should be finished out (we wanted it exactly as it had been before) and the job was finished without that lip in place. I called Dave right away and although frustrated, he arranged for his guys to come back out and do it according to what we wanted. He came along also so they would be clear on what needed to be done. I appreciated his involvement and with more contractors were this attentive.
