I will definitely be using Sam The Plumber again! Happy happy customer! Prices are excellent too.
- I contacted Sam the Plumber based on the company's excellent profile on Angie's List and they lived up to this rating. I noted the faint smell of natural gas in the cabinet under the natural gas cook top range and surmised it was due to a leaking valve or tubing. I used a methane detector to confirm the valve was the source and called Sam the Plumber on a Thursday in the pm and an appointment was set up for the following day. The plumber arrived on time and agreed the valve needed to be replaced. He did not have the exact size needed in his truck so he left for about 20 minutes to retrieve it from the shop and returned with a partner to replace the valve. They also re-lit the two water heaters' pilot lights after the gas supply was turned back on. Both technicians were very personable and professional. The bill was very reasonable and they performed good work that appears to have solved the problem. I was quite happy I contacted this company.
This is the third time I've used Sam the Plumber. The first was to connect a new gas grill to the house gas line, and the second time was to unclog a kitchen drain. These guys are responsive, knowledgeable, reasonably priced, friendly, and helpful. The person who came to fix the drain identified and corrected a problem from a previous plumbing contractor. He also replaced a toilet flush mechanism while he was there, and looked at some bathroom fixtures to give advice on some remodeling jobs we have in mind. I don't plan to call anyone else for plumbing work.
He kept me informed on each step of the work;
Two additional installers arrived to assist in moving the new water heater safely into the attic;
The water heaters were "as described" in the quotation (no substitutes);
Installer was courteous and professional;
Final price was exactly as quoted.
The waste disposal issue was cleared and at a good price so though it took a while, it was charged by the job so that was great and there was not a mess to clean up because "Saint" was careful about keeping things neat. One comment on that job was, like plumbers seem to do, I was asked for a bucket and "old towels", neither of which I provided as I didn't have anything that would be OK for whatever might come out of the drain (I don't understand why plumbers don't have their own "old towels" as the home owner may not have any yet doesn't want a mess either).
What made my overall experience a "C" was that part of the apptmt was for them to look at a leak under my raised house. After clearing the garbage disposal, we discussed how they would best determine the source of the leak. In the end, Saint proposed that he come back with their master plumber and as long as I was willing to let them put a hole in the outside ceiling (I was) , they would not charge me to see if they could determine the source of the leak in an initial view. About a week later, I called and asked to arrange that. I was told Saint was out sick and to call back the next day. I did. He was still out sick. When I called the following week, I was told he was really busy and so was the master plumber but they would have him see msg by 7 am next am and he'd call me. I never heard back from them.
Note: on my last call, I told the office contact it didn't have to be "saint" that came as long as they were willing to honor his offer. At the least, I think someone from their office should've followed up with him and me. I had called enough times.
"Thank you so much for the review! We are always pleased when we receive comments regarding the service of our technicians, and the overall experience with our company! Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your experience!"
All the work areas were cleaned up with great detail. My wife and I would definitely use Sam the Plumber again and recommend
the company highly.
The plumbers came as promised I was talking with them over the phone( I was at work) Told them to remove the stuck cartridge from the old broken shower fixture and install a new cartridge. They said the cartridge is broken in such a way that it cant be removed they will have to go from the behind the shower and cut open sheetrock install a new housing connect all pipes(solder). I have my doubts Plumber wanted more job so said cant remove the stuck broken cartridge. I felt like I was taken for a ride.
Previous night I had been to Home Depot so I knew that the Moen chrome fixture which comes with all the parts is in the range $100 to $150. (I think Sam the plumber gets discount on parts Plumber could have paid $60 for the fixture) Installation for plumbers should be $250 at the max. But these guys would not buzz, they said there price is $625 all inclusive!! Price doesn't include Sheetrock repair!!. This was Friday afternoon I had to shut off my water supply to the whole house for this issue and next was weekend (They charge 50% more in weekends). In short they took my advantage. They knew that this has to be done ASAP, so they jacked up the price. Sam the plumber knew that If I would not have gotten shower faucet fixed from them I had to wait until Monday or Tuesday next week that too without water. This is my first Angies list call(I just became member) and I was taken advantage of. Wow I expected better price. After telling the plumber three times that I am Angies list member he gave me $25 off and fixed the sheetrock.
I think they did a good job but too much money$600 for a simple Shower fixture!!!
