Lon Smith Roofing

I called Lon Smith Roofing first because they had replaced our current roof 10 years ago after last significant hail storm. Their work was more than satisfactory then; so why not give them first crack at replacing what they had installed? So, I called. Their estimator was here in a few days. He didn't need a ladder because he would pilot a drone over my roof to take pictures to document the damage. He then sat down at my dining table and showed me the damage that he was pretty sure my insurance company would agree with. He also checked out my window screens, gutters and downspouts, fence, and an air conditioner compressor. He documented damage that he found in everything he inspected. My next call was to my insurance agent to report the hail damage. She referred me to Claims Department where I reported the claim. Again, in just a few days, my insurance adjustor showed up. He took a really good look at the roof by climbing up on it and checking for damage. He concurred with nearly all of the assessments of the roofing estimator. However, they would not cover my gutters because metal was erroneously omitted from the current policy. Metal coverage has now been restored. But, the gutter and other metal work will not be covered on this claim. The longest wait throughout the whole process was to be get on the roofer's work schedule. It took about 3 weeks because the company had lots of damaged roofs ahead of mine. Materials were delivered a couple of weeks later on a Friday, and work began the following Tuesday. The job was completed in just 3 days, just as they had estimated. Except for an afternoon rain shower, they would have finished on the second day. The only problem throughout the whole process was that the crew members spoke very little English. But, usually there was at least one English speaker on the team. The team members were very thorough, professional and friendly. They did allow one shingle to snag a window screen and scratch the window, but the roofing company scheduled a window company to re-screen the screen and replace the window at the roofing company's expense. That work is scheduled to be done next week. The roofing crew also cleaned up everything very thoroughly. There must be at least one residual nail on the ground, but I have not found it. Understanding 6 pages of singled spaced Claims Report from insurance company was a challenge. And, the supplemental claims further complicated the process. But, fortunately, Lon Smith Roofing has an employee named Lois in their billing department who walked me through the initial claim, the revisions, and also helped me by communicating more than once with the insurance company to be sure my payments (including depreciation) completely covered my loss less my deductible. In the end she showed me that my total damages less what it cost to repair them was exactly equal to my deductible. I don't think I would ever have figured that out on my own. The roofer's inspector Billy also was an employee worth mentioning. He came a few days after the job was complete to be sure all the exhaust pipes in the attic were reconnected properly and that the job was done to my complete satisfaction. He made a couple of adjustments in the attic and to the gutters and went through a long check-list to be sure nothing was missed. I appreciate that kind of follow-up. So, in short, Lon Smith Roofing is a quality company doing quality work by quality people, I'm more than satisfied with the work and want to compliment Dustin, the estimator, Victor, the foreman, Lois, the nice lady in billing, and Billy, the inspector. One more thing. Lon Smith Roofing replaced my damaged 30-year roof with a 30-year HAIL RESISTANT roof at no extra cost to me. That was about a $2,000 bonus. When that documentation arrives, I'll take it to my insurance agent and hope to get a premium reductions on future policies. Lon Smith Roofing did a good job for us in 2007 and they did another good job in 2017. And, Lon Smith Roofing will get the first call if I ever need another roof.

Our roof was hit hard in the Great Hailstorm of '17. We turned to Lon Smith, as we had in the past, and they came through again. They worked with us on the job's start date, coordinated well with our insurance carrier, showed up on time and did a first-rate job. I'll single out two LS employees for special praise: our Account Rep Britt Martin, and Inspector David Grassmann. We found both these gentlemen to be extremely professional, knowledgeable, and responsive.

It was good. We only had one problem with them. They damaged a little siding, they hit it with some decking board and they haven't gotten back to me yet on if they are going to fix it. The roof is fine, they've been real friendly. If they'd get back to me on the siding it would change everything. They haven't communicated very well with us on that. They were comparable in price to others. They did the roof in a pretty good amount of time.

I cannot tell you how impressed my husband and I were with Mat Peterson and his roofers. They were professionals in every way . They arrived on time, were polite and respectful of our home, cleaned up daily after they left, and frequently asked us if we were satisfied with the work as it progressed. We had a roof replaced in the past by another contractor and I can tell you that working with that other roofer was NOT a positive experience. We have recommended Lon Smith to a number of our neighbors!

They handled every aspect of the process with NO HASSLES and in a professional manner. There were no surprises and everything was explained before the roof was started, they were fast and the cleanup was perfect...they even take a magnet to the yard to pick up all nails and debris.

Both jobs were done on time. Work was done as expected. No surprises. The onsite manager explained all that was being done and answered any questions. The details of shingle delivery and removal of old shingles was explained ahead of time. Sales Manager Matt Peterson gave options on quality of shingles to be used with thorough explanations. The company worked directly with our insurer, State Farm. No upfront deposit was required.

Lon Smith was excellent from start to finish. Matt P. gave me a thorough estimate and answered all of my questions. The crew came out and did an excellent job in a short amount of time. The next week, Andrew scheduled a review with me, and he inspected the work to ensure the roof was done correctly. The whole process was easy, and the roof looks great.

Great reviews and long time in business were the draw. Great first contact with responsive sales person. Required materials were provided and installed on time; however: incorrect roof ridge was installed, stacks were painted in the wrong color, paint was oversprayed on roof and bricks, flashing was poorly installed twice, and inspector did not correct overspray and flashing issues. Working with somebody else at LSR, most issues were addressed and crew working on third flashing installation was super professional. At the end of the day, you will get what you ask for but you may have to complain and have them redo some of the work.

It’s my pleasure to recommend Lon Smith Roofing. These folks have installed 2 roofs on my house…once just before I purchased the house in 2003. Second time in 2017…due to an insurance claim for hail damage. LSR was invited to bid based on their prior work on my house…for 14 years, my roof was not a concern…always looked good and performed as expected…kept us dry. As an added extra, as we worked thru the insurance claim, Trent of LSR sat down with us and patiently explained how much our insurance claim would reimburse for needed repairs. This was key for us, as repeated attempts to have the insurance folks give us “plain English” answers were fruitless. On the day of install, our LSR Supervisor, Josh worked with us to ensure first class quality. And Josh’s follow-up was superior…always available to quickly and efficiently take care of any issues on our punch list…Josh followed up immediately! The crew and the inspector were prompt, polite, informative... and fast! I can't believe it only took a day. The followup from the business office was nice and professional.

Hired Lon Smith to replace the roof on my 92-year-old mother-in-law's house in 2016 for over $11,000. Although the quality of the roof was okay, the price was not. When I asked the salesman, John Pembleton, if he could help with the deductible of $6000, he said he couldn't, because he would be giving her a different price than the insurance company (AAA), which would be unethical! When I told him that AAA didn't care, he reduced the price by $750. When the invoice came, the $750 discount wasn't applied. Lon Smith was kind enough to correct. Then, a month or so later, Lon Smith sent a bill for another $1300 because they somehow thought my mother-in-law received another payment from AAA. Nice job, Lon Smith, of ripping off a 92-year-old woman.

Lon Smith Roofing sent a sales team member to my home where measurements were taken by flying a drone over head in addition to a physical inspection of the roof. Their measurements were within a few feet of the insurance adjuster and the estimate was within $300 of the claim amount. My sales associate suggested an upgrade to a category 4 impact resistant shingle; this yielded a 20% discount in our homeowner's premium with our insurance company. The work was scheduled, the crew arrived on time, completed the work in a single day, and an inspector visited our home to ensure all installation and clean up tasks were completed. The entire process was professional - they even dealt directly with our insurance company. A great experience with Lon Smith Roofing; I would recommend and hire for future work.

The process of replacing the roof went quite well. We did have an issue with a patio cover that Lon Smith could not replace and that was attached to the roof. Paul Stewart, with Lon Smith went the extra mile to locate and arrange for a sub contractor to remove the patio attachment, wait on site for the roof to be replaced and then reattach the patio cover. Everyone at Lon Smith Roofing are friendly and professional. My roof sprung a leak at the worst possible time, during a terrible storm on a Friday evening. Lon Smith Roofing responded quickly the next day and installed a temporary fix to stop the leak until the repairs could be completed, which happened in a matter of days. The cost for the repairs was very reasonable, less than I anticipated. I would recommend Lon Smith Roofing to anyone.

The roofers worked a long day to make sure the hard part was done in one day, which was appreciated. Dustin was the guy that first came out and evaluated the damage and he was easy to talk to, he explained things in non-roofer language

Great I reached out to the company on line after performing some background on the company. They responded quickly. My sales rep made appointment and came at the appointed time. He also advised that they could upgrade the roof which I confirmed would help on my insurance premiums. The crew was on time and very nice. Mario the inspector was very accommodating and made sure everything was done to specifications. All in all a very good experience.
