Very professional and honest! I would definitely recommend him!
Hargrave installed 18 steel piers. We had heard of a number of the structural engineers Hargrave was recommending so allowed them to provide the engineer. For permit purposes, Hargrave arranged for a structural engineer to take measurements before any work was begun and then after the work was completed. The work was completed in two days with very minimal damage to our landscaping. Also, once the work was completed, Hargrave arranged for the plumbing leak test to be administered at no additional cost.
Dan Hargrave was very professional, patient, and personable. His office staff was professional, patient and friendly each time I called. The foreman, Roy, overseeing the job was professional and answered any questions my husband had. He was always very professional and patient with my neighbor, an oil rig engineer in a former life, who kept coming over to observe and ask questions. Although I hope to not have to call on them again, will not hesitate to do so should the need arise again.
We maybe could have been sold a big repair package, especially if multiple bids came in with a similar recommendation, but this guy was a true pro, and told it straight. He said that we could just rehang the doors, and paint the cracks if they bother us, and that minor cracking is just part of living in Texas.
"I am sorry, but I don't remember this person by name, or the appointment. Unfortunately, sometimes we do have to reschedule appointments. We don't intentionally just not show for an appointment though. If this really happened the way the person said, then we must have lost or misplaced the appointment slip and/or the posting of the appointment. And I do apologize to them if this was the case. It would make no sense for us to make appointments for estimates and then just not show up. We would never get any business. We have been in business for roughly 27 years, so we obviously DO regurarly show up for appointments. Dan Hargrave"
Hargrave's employees did everything very professionally. There were no surprises and the information provided on the estimate were accurate.
"I am pretty sure I remember this lady and our visit because it was, to me, a strange visit. I took a brief look around the inside and outside of the house, as I often do upon arrival, and determined quite quickly that she did not have enough foundation movement to warrant any foundation repair. So I told her that I did not think that she needed any repair. She seemed not to believe me. She did mention that she had had other foundation companies out, but I don't believe she told me what they said to her. So, possibly, one of them had told her she needed repairs and she was confused by my disagreement with them. I don't know. We talked for several minutes about it. As I was leaving, the thing that I said to her was that usually when I told someone they did not need repair they were happy, but she seemed to be disappointed. And I didn't understand why. If I sounded dismissive or rude, I didn't mean to. She acted as if she was suspicious of me, and I just didn't understand why. Obviously, if I had thought she needed work, I would have been glad to give her a proposal. I am curious as to whether the other companies told her she needed repairs or not, and whether she actually had any repairs done."
Caleb told us we did not need any work done, that our issues were just settling issues that were normal. He took a great deal of time and explained everything to us. He told us that he wanted to treat us like he would wanted to be treated if it was home. He was very knowledgeable. He recommended some things we could do for the settling issues, which he said were very minor.
I will use them in the future if we need foundation work down the line and will also recommend them to anyone I know that needs work on their foundation. Their honesty and good reputation says it all.
