We have used them for 10 years. They are the only ones who work on the type of system we have. It's a very unique system. They are very good. They are pricey.
Description of Work: Every year they come and service our unit.

Terrible. Jared at Barrett both misdiagnosed my issue, provided a $4,000+ quote to "fix" the problem, than refused to give me a bid for the simple revision. He failed numerous times to return my calls timely or respond timely at all. I had to badger him just to get my house plans back that I had given him. I feel like I was about to be robbed based on his behavior, misdiagnosis, and quote. In fairness to Barrett, another two techs did diagnose and correct previous issues, but at a high price that I paid promptly. I used them on a recommendation. I won't again.
Description of Work: Originally, I thought it was reducting of an A/C unit. Then, I discovered on my own Jared had misdiagnosed my problem. I asked for a simple bid to move one thermostat.

I decided to give Barrett another try after a very unhappy experience earlier in the year. The service technician was straightforward with me about what was going on, didn't try to sell me anything other than the service contract (which eliminated my paying for the service call). I was happy with the service. The technician was punctual, pleasant, made useful suggestions and took his time to get things corrected. I haven't had any problems since.
Description of Work: Repaired a nonworking furnace unit upstairs. Outside temperature sensor had become covered with dirt and so unit was not switching on. Also rerouted a sump drain to make it easier to change the filters. Price included new service contract. Checked downstairs furnace as well.

Barrett installed a unit on my roof in August 2012 been using them faithfully since for my routine maintenance even though on two occasions, techs would not go up on roof to check the unit. Price used to be $59.00 for this maint. check, but called today to find that cost is now nearly $200.00. To top this off, they have time and time again refused to give me a copy of my A/C warranty.

Service technician was professional and all work went well. What little he did.
Description of Work: Pan with refrigerated air-conditioning unit was overflowing, causing water to leak out onto floor. Checked unit over and flushed out drainage pipe from pan to outflow. Replaced filter on two units. This was on new unit Barrett installed August 2013 for $3100.00. Charge was $375.00. Seems very high for no major repair work done.

Used this company ~ 3y ago to install two central AC units and furnaces. I was very happy with the work and responsiveness. Jared was very professional. I realized that my condensation pump was going out on upper unit, so I called Barrett Air. They made me an appointment for the next day in the afternoon between 1 and 4. The tech showed up at 4:30, looked at the pump and said it would have to be replaced. He said he'd have to check on the price. I asked if he could change out the filter material in the electronic filters (since I'd already committed to pay a $59 service fee). He said no, he didn't think he had the filter material. He left to price the pump and was gone for a while, so I went online and priced a new identical replacement from Zoro for $52.88, shipping included. The Barrett tech returned to tell me that "those little pumps are a little pricey" at $275.11!!! In addition,, he wanted $62.50 to flush the line. I thanked him, ordered the pump from Zoro and had my handyman install it for $40.00, so for $93, I'm back in cool air.

The salesman came out and looked at my complete system then sat down with me for over an hour to answer questions and go over options. He gave me all the information I needed to make an informed decision. After he left I went on the Internet to do more research. I called him several times to ask specific questions and he was always pleasant and informative. After contracting them the installers technicians and electricians arrived on time and we're very professional. They cleaned up before they left for the day and would tell me when they were leaving for break or for the day so that I could lock up. I felt comfortable asking them questions and to give me specifics. They were very professional and patient and informative.
Description of Work: Converted from evaporative to refrigeration. We had three evaporative units and two furnaces.

Estimator was knowledgeable and made a good sales pitch. Installers were two young fellows who did not understand the fundamentals and really did a sloppy job. The system was not evacuated properly, or sufficiently charged. Error codes indicated that the ducts needed to be increased. After paying an additional $850 to increase the ducts, error codes persisted. Analyzing the system myself months later indicated a faulty thermostat (a sophisticated $750 unit). When I contacted Barrett, they claimed that they did not install my unit. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to get them to come back to the house, I finally had to take the original paperwork back to them before they would honor the warranty. The new thermostat fixed the problem and was the real cause of the problem I had paid $850 to fix. I then paid a different contractor to fully charge the system which now works effectively.

The current duct was noisy because it was not sized properly for the 4 ton unit that we have. Jared the construction manager did a Manual J and came up with the proper CFM and velocities at each register. His 2 installers came on the day scheduled and proceeded to remove the old ducts. They built a new plenum from scratch, replaced all the flex duct with metal pipes that were wrapped with insulation. They also sealed all the joints with metal tape and mastic sealer. They also cut new vents for the den and laundry room and ran new ducts to these locations. Finally they placed rubber isolators between the unit and the roof top curb to decrease vibration that could be transmitted from the unit to the house. They left the house clean and were very professional and courteous. They also take a lot of pride in their work.
Description of Work: Previous company did not know how to do duct work. Hired Barrett Airworks to do a proper duct design and balance the air throughout the house. They removed all the old flex duct that was all over the place, built a new air supply plenum and ran new metal ducts to the rooms.

Airworks coordinated their work with the other subcontractors and the entire project was completed in about six weeks, well within our time frame. The system is now eight year old and we have had no problems with it. The anticipated dramatic increase in our electric bill (switching to refrigerated system) never materialized. In fact, our electric bill has only increased by about $300.00/year. Well worth it in my opinion.
Description of Work: I contracted with Airworks to change out an existing evap cooled HVAC system for a new Carrier "split system" at my house. Work entailed removal of existing evap cooler, furnace, all ductwork and controls, and installation of new 4T refrigerated unit, 100,000 btuh gas fired furnace, all new ductwork and controls. This was part of a larger remodeling project that involved several other subcontractors.
