He was here and he made the estimate. I think they are a good company. We didn’t hire him because it was a little bit over our budget but he was good with service. It was a very good service. He explained to us all the options we have and he took at what we have and he told us that everything needs to be new. It was a good offer but for us, it was a lot of money so we decided not to go with it.

Everything went good for Landscaping Lighting.  I supposed they required a little attention by me.  They did the job they were hired to do that is why I like them.

After they came to put up the original lighting they left behind screws, wrappers & labels on the ground which were left for us to clear up. They put lighting in our front yard. We have a light canopy over the pool in our back yard. We noted straight away that the 5 strings of lights looped down low and were caught up in the Magnolia tree in places. We called them back to fix this. They didn't use a map or any diagrams from previous years. A crew arrived out to fix this. I watched while first they entertained themselves breaking up the ice in our fountain. One of the men tried to push the hand of the other into her icy water! They still had no reference to how it had been arranged the previous year and we now have an ugly arrangement strung from our balcony.
On Sunday 15th Dec I went out to sweep up leaves and was astonished to find half a shattered bulb (exactly the same type used in the canopy). I am relieved that our dogs didn't cut themselves on it but am now left wondering is the rest of that glass now in our swimming pool!
I have spoken with The Perfect Light Company who quite frankly had no interest in dealing with this issue, apologising and even implied that the broken bulb was unlikely to have been left behind by one of their crews!!!!!! They went on to tell me about another customer who said he watched while acorns fell on his bulbs & broke. So clearly he wasn't believed and neither was I. Why they felt it was appropriate to share that with me...... This Company can not deal professionally with their customers when things go wrong. We will be looking for someone else next year to help us out! .

Response from The Perfect Light

"It is never our intention to leave trash behind, but we acknowledge that it does happen occasionally. As for the broken bulb, bulbs get broken in lots of different ways. It may have been there when the crew was there and, of course, if they saw it they should have picked it up. This customer talked with more than one person at our company and both apologized and continually asked what they could do to resolve her issues and she responded that there was nothing to be done. We are not perfect but it is our heart position to do everything we can to satisfy each and every customer. We are saddened that there was nothing we could do to satisfy this particular customer."

This company is WONDERFUL!!!  The are so kind, polite, punctual, professional and just do a fabulous job!!!  Our home and yard look perfect!!  Yes, they are a little expensive but so worth it!!  If you want something nice and professional looking you will spend good money.  KEEP IN MIND......although the first year is terribly expensive, every year after that the cost is basically half of what was spent the first year.
You own your lights and they store them.  The first year what you are paying for is the lights and garland that are cut specifically for your home.  After the first year, the cost is lower because you are only paying for installation, take down and maintenance throughout the season.
I highly recommend this company.  I had a few people come out that yes, were less expensive but they were not near as knowledgeable or polite as this company was.  One company I found here on Angie's List was not professional at all.  Instead of returning my phone call, she only would email and getting her to respond to my phone calls through email took DAYS!!  When she finally did come out to my home, she was very unprofessional and truly didn't act like she knew what she was doing.  When we looked at her website compared to The Perfect Light website, it was a hands down on who we would go with.  Yes, we could have went a cheaper route but we wouldn't have been near as happy with the final results.  Again, you get what you pay for!!
The gentleman that did my estimate did make a few errors, but the company was quick to resolve any issue even though it was quite a small issue.  We truly can't recommend this company any more strongly.

The company was very professional and responsive--exceptional customer service.  The price was overall good considering the quality of the fixtures and installation.  I was very impressed with each person that represented the company and how they followed through on every single detail that we discussed.  I will definately use them again.  This is a good family owned company.

Although they are by no means the least expensive alternative, they are highly professional, very responsive (e.g., when a bulb goes out on our Christmas lighting they are there generally the same day to replace it) and use top grade fixtures. Their landscape lighting design is head and shoulders above anything else we've seen and truly enhances the appearance of home at night. The pricing listed reflects the 2010 renewal price for installing, removing and storing our Christmas lighting (roof line, peaks and ground lighting outlining the driveway in front of our house).

Perfect Light had neither the lowest nor the highest estimate of the 3-4 companies we received estimates from. Another company actually gave us an estimate that was $5000 greater. Jerry came out to our house the day we called Perfect Light and gave us suggestions on how to set up the lighting based on our budget. He was very easy to work with; he never pushed us to spend more than we budgetted for and he was still able to give us options. The installation was arranged promptly and was performed on the day we had agreed on. The work went smoothly. Jerry followed up with us that evening, coming over to our house to make sure the work was done the way we agreed and to make sure it was what we had hoped for. Several months later, they came out again to change out some bulbs for us. We have not had any technical problems with the lighting. We are very satisfied with the work performed by Perfect Light and the service that Jerry provided.

I used the email address provided on his site in order to contact him and asked him to phone me to set up a time to come to my home and determine if he could install some additional lighting in our family room...I sent two seperate emails and phoned once...NEVER HEARD A WORD BACK FROM HIM over a period of weeks. Not worth the effort...moved on to use someone more reliable and responsive.
Response from The Perfect Light

"We have checked all email accounts and telephone logs and have been unable to find any attempted contact by the member. This is very upsetting as we are diligent about returning all calls and messages in a timely fashion. We have no explanation unless we have been confused with another company. Please accept our apologies."

They were very expensive, we thought it was way over the top. We had another person bid about $700 for the job. They were on time and professional, but it was more than we wanted to spend. They were recommended on Angie's List pretty highly.
Response from The Perfect Light

"We are unsure as to how the Member came to this assessment. We have reviewed our proposal dated April 21, 2010, and the proposal was for two (2) 100w high voltage moon lights for $850 and then there was a separate line item for electric at an additional $625. Both items were to be discounted by 10% - meaning that the cost of the lights would be $765 and the electric would be $562. We do want to note that the Member was not at the original appointment and has not spoken to any of our sales people. Therefore, part of the problem may be a result of miscommunication. As for the discrepancy in price between us and our competitors, it is hard to explain without seeing their estimate. In electrical contracting, price can vary significantly from one estimate to another depending on many different variables. For example, how the lights will be mounted, whether they are up or down lights, whether they are mounted on the ground or 80 feet in the air, what type of fixture is being installed, what type bulb will be used, what electrical is required, what warranty is included, whether it needs to be installed by a licensed electrician, etc. The Perfect Light has, and always will, strive to provide the very best quality and service. We feel our prices are very competitive and work hard to keep them that way."

I would give them and A on everything. They are a little pricey, but they are very competent and very punctual. They are very knowledgeable because they do this year round with general lighting for the exterior of your house.
