I was not an Angies List member when I set the appointment. I requested the appointment through their website and was contacted by phone within an hour by Wanda. We set the appointment for the exact date and time that I wanted. Evan arrived on time, actually a little early, and was very professional and quick and did not leave a mess for me to clean up. He also left an estimate to repair the outside chimney (hardyboard) that I already knew was in poor condition. I thought the estimate to repair and paint the outside chimney was high ($625) so I am going to get some other estimates to compare. I received a $10 discount (online coupon) for requesting appointment online and another $10 discount for submitting a review on Google.

They did a good job. It was a little pricey.

I called Master Services after not getting a call back from another vendor for two days. I spoke to Christa. She was very helpful and scheduled service for the next morning. The tech arrived 5 minutes earlier than he said he would be arriving. That was a nice surprise. He performed the work in 35 minutes and billed me for exactly what I was quoted. Good service, fair price. I'll probably use them again.

bad! Bad! Bad experience. It is hard to do a good job cleaning when your busy texting your friends.

I was given a "big deal" offer from Angies List to get my chimney swept for $95.00. I was then referred to a company called Mater Services to have the work done. Jonathan was my service provider. He called on the pre-set date to confirm his time of arrival. I was pleased to find him a few minutes early, quite professional and curteous of my home and very polite to me. (This is a rare feature anymore and very much appreciated.) After he finished the job, he answered my questions concerning some cracks that had formed in the back panel of my prefab fireplace. He gave me several options and I decided it to be safest to replace the panel. Expecting to have to reschedule for another day, I was pleasantly suprised that he offered to do the work while he was there. He quickly replaced the panel, picked up his tools and left no evidence that he was ever here. There was no soot or ashes floating around in my home and no residue on carpets or furniture. He took great care to complete this job with absolutely no mess. I was impressed. It has been quite a while since I have encountered service from a provider who display's pride in the job they are doing as well as respect for me and my home. I bought the Big Deal from Angie’s List. He seemed very calm and went up on the roof and cleaned through the dryer and behind the dryer. He got everything off of the roof. They were very friendly and very professional.

John arrived on-time and was very courteous and professional. He completed the chimney sweep and left no mess (probably cleaner than when he started!). John pointed out a cracked panel that needed to be replaced and provided a reasonable estimate. When I'm ready to replace the panel I definitely plan to use Master Services again.

This was a special rate offered by Angie's List. Service was excellent. Especially liked that the vacuum machine they used didn't leave a musty or ash smell like some others services I used.

The genlteman from Master Services was knowledgable, explained his findings and didn't try to sell me anything. He did mention areas to watch and things to be done in the future, but there were no 'scare' tactics employed. I did have to request that the band be rescrewed on the metal venting pipe, which was hard to get to, but overall I was happy with the job and feel reassured that there are no fire hazzards lurking where I can't see them.

I was very happy with how everything turned out with this company. The crew was very professional and courteous. They were very easy to work with. I don’t have any complaints and would this company again. We will be having them back out to do some more work for us very shortly.

Took advantage of a special offered by Angie's List to have this service performed. The representive who came out, Rory, was extremely professional and performed an excellent job. We had absolutely zero mess to contend with, unlike our previous experiences with chimney sweeps. We could not be happier and would definitely use this provider in the future. John came out, inspected the chimney, gave us an estimate for masonry repair and waterproofing. He then came back, on time, and did the work as promised. Went great. He is coming to come back and do some squirrel eliminiation work in our attics.

During the removal process my wife and I heard a loud bang. On 1/09/2011 I went into the attic to replace my air filter and discovered damaged in my attic caused by the Masters technician. Now I have insulation on top of the firebox and the fireplace unusable due to fire hazard. After two phone conversation with the owner, he agreed to send out a more experienced tech who repaired the damage in the attic. The second was friendly and more experienced. The issue is resolved to my satisfaction. Although, I will NOT use this company again due to my experience with the owner. He dislikes the BBB and informed me that AL Capone Founded the BBB. My research indicates otherwise. Therefore this business lost all credibility in my opinion. On February my chimney cap is leaking again. The water is splashing up on the wood in the attic, as shown in one of the attached pictures. I contacted the owner, he keeps stating the same thing, "he has been in this business for 15 years and that all chimney caps leak. I refuse to believe this because my original chimney cap did not leak for 8 years. Why should I pay $375 for a new Leaking chimney cap. On February 5th and 12th 2011 I noticed that the chimney cap is still leaking. The leak hits the fire-stop and splashes onto the wood in the attic. I have documented this ongoing issue. ANGIE'S LIST This is my reply letter to Angie?s List, Chad Murray, and Masters Chimney. I contacted Masters Chimney to address a leak with my 8 year old chimney cap. The technician arrived and we made arraignments to install a new chimney cap for $375.00. The new cap was installed and during the removal of the old cap the tech caused damaged to the firestop in my attic. I contact Mr. Chad Murray to facilitate repairs and provided him pictures to assist my claim. Through this entire process Mr. Murray has been combative, argumentative, and has continued to insist that All new chimney caps leak or that the leak is due to windblown rain. Mr Murray?s claim that a total of 5 or 6 service calls were made during this ongoing issue. FALSE, I have the three Masters Chimney Invoice Service Reports from the 3 service calls made by Masters Chimney. Also, in my Angie?s List report, I have documented the service calls by Masters Chimney techs. Mr Murray?s claim that these leaks are due to windblown rain. FALSE, from the instructions from the more experienced Masters Chimney tech Rory, I checked the water tight properties of the new chimney cap by pouring water onto the flat surface of the cap. Within minutes the leak appears. The water can be heard dripping onto the metal firestop and splashing onto the wood in the attic. The pictures are in my report on the Angie?s list website. THIS IS NOT WINDBLOWN RAIN. Mr Murray?s claim that no other chimney service would provide this service for me. FALSE, I joined Angie?s list to hopefully find a reputable and honest chimney contractor. Due to time constraints, I contacted the first chimney contractor I ran across on the website. ?Masters Chimney?. Mr Murray?s claim in his response letter to Angie?s List that my chimney cap does not leak: FALSE. I have documented the leak with pictures and video that the leak DOES exist. Mr Murray?s claim that Al Capone founded the Better Business Bureau: FALSE, Mr Murray is accomplished at redirection and excuses.

We bought an older home and prior to using the fireplace, we wanted to ensure it was safe to use. The company rep arrived on time and did an inspection; we were pleased to hear the chimney did not need cleaning but there was some minor mortar joints that needed repaired and the cap could use replacing. We opted to purchase a full cap that would encompass the entire top of the chimney. The custom cap was installed a few weeks later and looks great.

We had gas logs installed and went to the shop to look at the displays. The guy was very helpful and explained the difference between the two types of gas logs. Either vented or non-vented. He said that the vented was the way to go and that we shouldn't mess with the non-vented logs. He also recommended the platinum bright embers which we chose because they really light up the fireplace. We chose the logs we liked and booked the installation day and time which was the following Saturday. The guy arrived on time and was very professional and courteous. He explained what we needed to do to operate the fire correctly and answered all my questions. We are very happy with the gas logs and would recommend this company to anyone.

He did a good job. He came all the way from Texas. There were some problems with scheduling as it was far away. His price was fair. He cleaned up after himself.

The phone calls were great; they answer promptly and are very courteous. Their follow up and responsiveness is great, they do really well in this customer service category. The actual service man was very good to deal with. He was prompt and respectful. He stated I didn't need a cleaning, so I wasn't charged for some unnecessary service. My only complaint is the price/cost of what needed (and needs) to be done, but that is my fault since I did not price compare in advance. I still have to add doors added and I may (or may not) go back to them for this, depending on price. Beyond the cost, they were really great to deal with.
