As with most services, you never really know if they are going to stand behind their work until you have a problem. DFW Security Advisors are the alarm installers for Central Security. In the process of having the alarm system updated in our house and after the sales pitch from the DFW Security installer I decided to let DFW Security also replace the smoke detectors. The technician recommended 10 year lithium batteries at the additional cost of $10 per detector (10 year detectors, 10 year batteries complete with warranty). Because we have some very tall ceilings I agreed to the extra cost. Everything is fine. Three years go by. Last week one of the detectors is beeping periodically (of course it is one that requires a 20ft ladder). I called Central Security, great company, they send a technician out the same day. The technician checks the system and informs me that the installed system is fine, the smoke detector that DFW Security replaced is the one not working (doesn't think it is the battery but not sure) and that they were not licensed to work on it (they are wired into the house) and did not have a ladder tall enough to reach it. The technician called his supervisor at Central who advised me to call Calie Stephens at DFW Security Advisors and that they should stand behind their work and products. I just got off the phone with Calie Stephens, I told him my smoke detector was beeping, it was three years old and I had a warranty, he then told me that if I took the smoke detector down (can't), I could return the smoke detector and battery to the manufacturer but they did not warranty their work or labor. He told me I should call a electrician. If this had been even 5 years in I would be more inclined to move on, but 3 years into a 10 year warranty! I would never recommend this company or use them ever again.
