I stopped by Stereo Zone as a walk-in to see what they would recommend for my car. It's 17 years old and came with a fancy five-speaker system that's unique to the car (BMW Z3). Even though I didn't call in advance, I only had to wait about 15 minutes before the staff checked out my car's stereo.
We ended up replacing the amplifier as it was blown - something I'd known before I came in. Also, we replaced four small speakers with two bigger ones. This kept the price down while the sound quality was more than acceptable to me.
I was pleasantly surprised to be quoted $179.00 for the entire repair job. Best of all, everyone was polite. Nobody treated me like an idiot because I happen to be female, and admitted to knowing little about car stereos.
The waiting room has a wide-screen TV with a movie channel, and free bottled water. Nice!
I'm 100% pleased with the results and am considering going back to bump up the bass speakers. Stereo Zone also sells after-market accessories such as rear view cameras at a good price.
