Glenn Townsend - Glenn's Appliance Repair

Glenn was very communicative. He called to schedule, was very professional and called back when he said he would. When he arrived I was a bit leary because he just did not look like the usual repairman and was driving a convertible car. But he seems to have had all that he needed in his small tool box. My washer that is about 15 years old, but has worked like a charm, would not go into a high speed spin. Unlike the average repairman, he was able to diagnose down to the component level. Most repairmen just replace boards or assemblies. Glenn was able to repair my washer in under an hour, without any large parts or assemblies - he actually just replaced a small part. I would use Glenn's service anytime - it is quite rare to find someone of this caliber and capability.

Everything went great!!! Oh, Mr. Townsend, I wanted to be your #120. He was punctual and professional. Immediately accessed what might be causing the water on the floor under my refrigerator. He got everything straightened out and now the floor under my frige is as dry as a bone!!! And in the process I learned so much about the care and maintenance of my refrigerator.

He was prompt, efficient and very courteous. I was really impressed with the service.

Glen advised me that it would be cheaper to buy a new washer rather than repair. A lot of other shops would have at least wanted the service fee to come out and look.

, Very prompt, professional, competent/ capable & friendly service. Price was $90 (the base rate "labor charge"). When scheduling appointment, I was advised that the "service charge" fee was $65, without explanation of what circumstances would raise that charge to a $90 labor charge. Was grateful for a quick and complete fix, and had no problem with the $90 charge - don't know of anyone who does capable work for less. Just would've liked more complete info up front - so I'm including this info here in case it is of help to some other prospective customer reading this. _______ No problems with dryer repair done a month ago - all still working great. However, it made me uncomfortable when, on looking up this business online to refer to a friend, I couldn't find any trace of it anywhere other than on angieslist. And I searched under Glenn Townsend. Glenn's Appliance Repair, and business address given - search results in every case came up with only angieslist listing. I don't understand why this is or what it means, but it's weird and made me feel less good about Glenn's... So I skipped making the referral - not enough confidence to recommend to a friend after getting these odd search results...

These guys were absolutely incredible. I’m selling my refrigerator with my house, so I called Glenn to repair the icemaker. Talking to Glenn Sr. was an amazing experience. His advertised hours are 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. so I called him at 10 p.m. and told him about the problem I was having and he said he would send Glenn Jr. the next day. Glenn Jr. showed up the next day at 10:00AM and confirmed the icemaker problem. We set an appointment for him to bring the replacement icemaker back at 7:00PM that night. It is super impressive – to do a diagnosis and replace the ice maker in less than 24 hours at $165. It is very, very reasonable so these guys are definitely “A” class material. I would like to go ahead and nominate them for page of happiness.

I called Monday morning and the service was done Monday afternoon. It was done very quickly and professionally. The cost was extremely reasonable.

Glen came out the very next day that I called about our washer and dishwasher. He began with the washing machine and found a tiny hole in a hose and replaced it. He then started to work on the dishwasher, which wasnt that easy for him to get out of the spot it is in cause of the tile. Glen is very patient and just goes about his work and gets it done. The dishwasher needed a new heating element and both appliances work great again! Very grateful to have found them on Angies List.

Everything was taken care of and we were pleased with the service we received.

Also, I feel that he went beyond what he had to do to help me in my dilemma--I don't like to make big purchases without mulling it over and doing lots of research, but I didn't have that luxury...the refrigerator, which was only 4 1/2 years old, just went out suddenly.

I contacted Glenn about my broken washer. I had a good idea what the problem was and Glenn confirmed it. He explained that the cost of the part was about $500 and therefore not worth fixing a 14 year old machine. He gave me some great advice about buying a new machine and things to do to extend the life of my new washer. He was very helpful, even though his advice meant that he wasn't going to make any money. Honest and upfront. Will definitely call Glenn in the future for any appliance repairs.

Called him, he was here in a couple of hours, earlier than I thought I could get anyone! Fixed the dryer at reasonable price and we had a nice chat!

He told me he could fix it but even at his cost purchasing the part was around $500 it would be better to purchase another one. He was up front and clear on what choices I had. He was very detailed in his explanation and recommendation. Very down to earth man. Very sincere I will use him for all my appliance repair in the future.

Called on Friday night to discuss the issue with Glenn Sr who immediately sent his son Glenn Jr to diagnose my issue. They were super nice. Glenn Jr called and offered to come out the same night. He was at my house within one hour of my initial call to Glenn Sr. and could not find anything wrong with the freezer but helped clean the coils and check other items I had been putting off. He was very professional and did not try to sell anything I did not need. I will recommend them to everyone I know and call them without any doubt.

Glenn was great to work with. He was very responsive, and attempted to diagnose the problem over the phone. He came over immediately, did a detailed review of the machine, and found out the exact problem. He offered both a refurbished motor and a new motor, and guaranteed the refurbished for 30 days after installation. His rates were very reasonable, and he was extremely responsive and quick, both in terms of arriving quickly, and solving the problem after review. I would highly recommend him to anyone with a large appliance needing fixing. I know that, in the future, should i experience any similar type of problem, I will be calling him first.

He was very supportive even thought we had to cancel.

My refrigerator is a three door with a bottom freezer drawer and required that the door, drawers, ice maker, all the track and hardware be removed before the back wall could be reached and removed to get to the fan motor compartment. It had frozen up, leaked and caused frozen water to accumulate on the floor of the freezer compartment. Mr. Townsend lay on the floor reaching into ice and water and removed all of the above hardware. The back wall was frozen stuck and after he freed the cover he found a football sized chunk of ice surrounding the motor and wiring. He then used a hair dryer and thawed the ice enough to free the motor from the wall so that he could finish melting it. He found the motor to be in good working order, just stuck with ice. He then removed all the rest of the ice from the wall, cleaned it up and cleaned the freezer before reinstalling the ice maker and track hardware. Mr Townsend spent 2 1/2 hours laying on a wet floor removing the hardware and chipping away at the motor compartment and was fair enough to tell me that I did not need to replace the fan, saving me the cost of the part he had already acquired, which I really appreciated. I felt his fee was very fair for the work he did. I will certainly call him any time I need appliance repair.

Contacted Glen at 10 am and was extremely flexible with the time the technician (his son) would be able to work on the freezer. He called me a bit later to get the model number of the fridge and asked me detailed questions so that he could trouble shoot. I was available earlier than expected, so I called Glen, and his son met me at the house 15 minutes later. Glen's son (didn't catch his name) was professional and had the whole job fixed in 40-45 minutes. I was very impressed that he had already brought the part that was needed for the repair. Excellent job, done quickly and efficiently.

He didn't seem at all interested at looking at my problem. Made a diagnosis over the phone and seemed sure of it. Not objective about solving my problem.

I called Monday evening. From my amazingly detailed description (The washer won't drain, it fills, and agitates but the water won't go out) Glenn knew immediately what the problem was and how much it'd cost to fix it. He gave me detailed instructions on where to find the model number which were so accurate I was a bit flabbergasted. He quoted me a repair price over the phone and said he could be out by 8:30 or 9am. I told him I would make arrangements to go into work late. He called me 7:02am and said he could come out now or asked if I wanted to wait until 8:30am. If he could come now that'd be great. I do not have exact times but he was here by 7:30 and gone by 7:45am and now my washer works perfectly again. He was extremely professional from start to finish and I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone who needs appliance repair.

Imagine having having an older relative with an excellent grasp of appliance repair, who not only will check out the problem you are having, but who will also look over rest of the components while he's "in there". If you can, then you have a pretty good idea of the type of guy who will show up in his personal vehicle (no signage) when you call Mr. Townsend. Just like my late, lamented, father-in-law - only less expensive! Seriously, Mr Townsend arrived about 30 minutes after I called him, stayed 2 hours, checked out all the components of my dryer, and made suggestions for improving the exhaust system, all for an extremely reasonable price. If you need a "company" truck and and a snappy uniform to make you feel good about your repairman, then look elsewhere. But if you are looking for an "old school" handyman that knows his stuff and really cares about doing it right, you need look no further than Glenn Townsend!

Excellent--he was prompt, courteous, and extremely affordable. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs appliance repair.

I called on a Saturday. He came out the same day. He arrived and went straight to work. Diagnosed the problem did what was needed to fix the ice maker.

My Whirlpool front load washer would not drain, or do anything. It just froze in the locked position, full of water and clothes. I called Glenn 8:30am and he sent his son over immediately. Everyone was extremely polite and professional, and my washer was fixed in no time! I will definitely call Glenn's Appliance repair again.
