Glenn Townsend - Glenn's Appliance Repair

He came within an hour of when I called him as he said he would. He diagnosed the problem correctly on the phone, and I gave him the model number. So when he arrived, he went right to work and was finished in less than 15 minutes. He takes pride in his work and does not try to rip you off. That's refreshing. I will definitely call him again when I need another repair.

Because its hard for me to take time off, I called a week ahead of time to arrange for service on a day when I had to be at home. Glenn arrived when he said he would. He diagnosed the problem immediately from the sound the machine made. He installed the replacement coupling and had the machine back in operation in about an hour.

If each of us developed a skill as keen as Glenn?s and shared it, the world would function so much better. If each of us loved our work as much as Glenn does, the world would be a happier place. Glenn did what he said very timely in two visits at a very reasonable price! Here is what I know: 1] My icemaker bucket looked like a mini-ice rink, with ice 4-plus inches thick, covering the auger. 2] My clothes dryer had not worked in over a year. 3] My washer had just begun to bang about loudly at the beginning of the spin cycle. All these products are 22 years old. #1 fix: Glenn coached me by telephone to defrost my own ice-maker [so I did not have to pay him to do it - - and it took a long time] [He had to encourage me twice before I would do it]. He checked it over; we waited til next visit to see what would happen. The ice-maker kicked in and makes beautiful cubes. #2 fix: My dryer got a new heating element, and Glenn taught me two basic steps to keep it safe and working well. #3 fix: Washer was toast; I bought one from Glenn that he had fixed - - it is a direct drive jewel. He removed the old one. At Glenn?s recommendation, I got plumber to fix the wather's water knobs so I can turn them off myself. Look at what I paid. Do you know the current price of new appliances?

I found a used washer to replace the broken one at a very reasonable price. I followed Mr. Towsend's advise and my new used washer works great!

Arrived on time and tried to fix both a washing machine and double oven . Did not have parts. Returned a few days later with parts. Fixed washing machine but still did not have part for oven. After several days of research he found multiple parts for oven and determined it would be best for me to contact the manufacturer. Glenn did not charge for time he spent on oven and was very reasonable on charges for washing machine. I enjoyed working with Glenn and would definitely use him again.

About 4:30pm on Saturday, 8/24, I discovered that my refrigerator had stopped working. I immediately called Sears and after playing 20 questions was told a service rep. would be out for an "assessment" on Tuesday afternoon. I did my monthly shopping yesterday and just filled the freezer so a 3 day wait was unacceptable! I turned to Angies List and found Glenn Townsend. I read the reviews, checked the comments, and placed a call about 4:50pm Glenn answered the telephone himself and I explained the problem, etc., and to my amazement he said, "I'll be right out there." Glenn arrived in less than 20 minutes and went right to work. He checked the appliance out from top to bottom, even pointing out routine maintenance and care of the refrigerator I never knew about. Ultimately the problem was a fan that simply wore out. (No, Sears, it was NOT the compressor!) He had the fan we needed IN HIS TRUCK and went about replacing it on the spot. In less than one hour the refrigerator was workiing perfeclty and is already pumping out ice!! The total price was $150 which I am certain is less than anyone else in town! I strongly recommend Glenn for all your appliance repairs needs!!

Glenn came out, looked at the icemaker, noticed a screw was too high and not tight. He had to pull the unit to get to the screw, but when he did, he tightened the screw and replaced the unit. Took him about 15 minutes from walking in the door to leaving.

Glenn is a rare breed, especially these days. Straight-up honest, arrived ahead of schedule, won't attempt to sell you an unnecessary bill of goods, performs only what is needed to make it right and functional. His rates are more than reasonable and he tells you ahead of time exactly what to expect in terms of price, for example - "it will be this amount if I have to do this, and this amount if I have to do that". And then he sticks to it. No nonsense, extremely skilled with years of experience. I'll have him back whenever I'm in need of any appliance repair. My only regret is that I didn't know about him sooner. He's a gem.

I called Glenn yesterday to look at my washing machine, which had stopped spinning. He guessed what was wrong with it (broken coupler) based on my description and made an appointment to come out this morning to do the repair. It was the coupler, as he had expected, and he quickly made the repair and got the machine running again. Glenn's a character, and gave me a stern fatherly talking-to about the perils of overloading my washing machine in the future! I will heed his words, and I'm very happy that I'm not shopping for a replacement washer this weekend.

It was smooth. Glenn asked me what the problem was and the model number of the refrigerator. He picked up a part before he came and it was taken care of in minutes. I was so thrilled as this was bothering me for some time. I am very grateful to have found him.

I talked to the owner on the phone and gave me the make and model number. He diagnosed the problem and gave me a price. When he came out, he knew exactly what it was. He had it repaired in less than an hour. It impressed me that he knew so much about the washing machines over the phone. We were not disappointed. He really knew a lot about washers and dryers and other things that they service. He was here right when he said. We are going to be calling him again because we have a problem with the dryer.

Discovered on a Sunday that GE dishwasher did not stop running when opened door to add a dish during wash cycle. Called Glenn Townsend Monday morning after reading reviews on Angie's List. He asked detailed questions to narrow down possible causes of malfunction. When I told him where I lived, he said his son Glenn was working in my area and would call me to set a time to come fix my dishwasher. Within a short time, Glenn called to let me know approximate time he could come and also called when he was a few minutes from my home. Glenn is a dog lover which is a big plus for me as I did not want my 3 dogs outside in the heat. Glenn was very methodical in determining the exact cause of the malfunction. It turned out that a small part inside was not popping up as it should when door was opened. He determined what was causing the part to become stuck in the down position and patiently worked to correct the problem. I very much appreciated that he did not automatically insist on buying and installing a new latch assembly as he saved me money and also my dishwasher was working correctly by the time he left. Glenn is a very personable, honest and competent professional. Will definitely call the Townsend's for any future appliance reapirs.

.Mr. Glenn Townson is a genuine professional who is pleasant, very knowledgeable of his craft, informative and honest.I was reminded of the value of reading and following the instructions in the appliance manual and appreciated very much his explanation of what was wrong with my refrigerator and how to prevent some of the problems. The refrigerator was not cooling due to a large chunk of ice built up on the thermometer. The foam inside the refrigerator was wet and the drain clogged.We opted not to repair the latter since it would have been a temporary solution due to the wetness of all of the interior foam.He repaired the refrigerator so that it is cooling inside the refrigerator and working to the best of its ability in the freezer and recommended we start shopping for a new refrigerator.We appreciated his expertise and work that will allow us time to accumulate funds for a new refrigerator.

My fridge went out on Friday night. I called at 8:30 pm to leave a voicemail but Glen picked up the phone and had a knowledgable technician at my house by noon the next day. Solved my problem at a very reasonable price. Will use again and recommend to friends and family.

Mr .Townsend came very promptly to my house to fix my oven after I had called him and gave him a description of the problem, he gave me a diagnosis and a price for that problem. Within an hour or so he was ringing my doorbell. I have three large dogs and he wasn't at all fazed which is always a good sign for me and they were ok with him, another good sign. He came into my kitchen checked the oven and his phone diagnosis was correct, he fixed my oven and all is good. Very down to basics, professional just like I hoped for and wish more were like. If the need arises I will use him again and recommend him.

He was honest. That's what makes the difference: his honesty. He simply checked out the freezer, noticed what was wrong, and "popped" it back in to place. I did not need a new part! He saved me 155 dollars! VERY IMPRESSED. I will definitely use him again.

Called the number listed and spoke to one gentleman. He said his son would call with a time when he could come to our home. He asked a lot of quesitons about the problems I was having and the make and model of my appliances. His son Glenn called within a few hours and made an appointment for the next day. . When Glenn arrived he had the parts he needed to repair our oven (stopped working after the cleaning cycle) Because of the questions asked hte day before we did not have to have one visit to diagnose the problem and a return appt to do the work. He was quick and efficient. He checked out the issues with the microwave (had 2 problems), he fixed the broken latch preventing it from opening and also identified that the motor for the turntable was no longer working. had ordered a new turntable ring as I thought that was the issue since the other one was damaged. He ordered the part for the motor and came back within 2 days to repair it. I was very happy with the professionalism, quick response and repair and the price to fix these 2 appliances. I will use htem again in the future.

I called Glenn and within an hour and a half he was at my door to repair my dishwasher. He isolated the problem and got the dishwasher working in just a few minutes. He felt bad that it was such a quick fix that he began checking some other things out on the dishwasher and made some adjustments to where the drain line goes into the garbage disposal. Glenn seems like a good honest guy. He's a little quirky, but very professional. We will definately use him again in the future.

I cleaned my refrigerator on Sunday, July 7. On Tuesday morning, July 9, around 8:00 a.m., the temperature alarm started going off. I checked the doors to make sure they were sealing when closed, and everything appeared to be properly closed. The temp continued to rise in the refrigerator, so I called Mr. Townsend at 9:47 a.m. He advised that he could come after a 10:00 a.m. appointment. He called back 20 minutes later to say he was on his way. He arrived promptly. My refrigerator is a Kitchenaid purchased in 2006. He told me that the compressors are no longer built to last like they used to be. He said that I should clean my coils frequently but that regular vacuuming isn't adequate. He told me that a leaf blower works to clean the coils. My user's manual recommends vacuuming with a soft brush by taking the front grill off yearly or more frequently if there is significant pet traffic. Mr. Townsend noted that I had dogs, but the dogs don't shed (the cat does). Mr. Townsend told me that the panel on the back had to be removed to effectively clean the coils (again using a leaf blower instead of a vacuum). He did not know if cleaning the coils at this point was going to work. I left the house after Mr. Townsend completed the work and returned several hours later. The temperature in the refrigerator and freezer had returned to normal. Had the temperatures not been normal, I understood from Mr. Townsend that I would need a new compressor or a new refrigerator. He indicated that some people opt to purchase a one-year service agreement from Sears (or other major store) and have the compressor replaced in that manner. He indicated that refrigerator warranties are usually only for one year (new refrigerators) because the compressors are not made in the U.S. I reread my warranty, and I apparently have a 10-year warranty on the compressor. At this point, I'm glad my fridge is working, and Mr. Townsend gave me some good advice and information to consider for future repairs.

We called and spoke with Mr Townsend on Monday evening. He came on Tuesday morning, identified the problem with the refrigerator (it wasn't cooling) and fixed it promptly. We were very pleased with his service overall.

I called and Glenn's son was able to come out the next day when I asked. He was about 30 minutes late but did call to let my husband know. We would definitely use them again.

On 6/13 in the evening, I contacted Glenn based on previous members' reviews and because he was close to where we lived. I explained to him that our 2003 Maytag washer had an issue where water would fill the tub but would not commence washing (aggitating?). Glenn and I agreed that it might be the lid switch. I then asked if he could come over the next day (6/14) around 1p to take a look at it. Glenn said he could. I was happy to hear that. Told him my wife would be the one to greet him and I asked for Glenn to call before coming over and he did. According to my wife, he agreed that the lid switch on the Maytag washer was faulty and he quickly replaced it. He was in and out very quickly and he charged us what I believed to be a fair price($95). I would use Glenn again and would recommend him to others. Thanks Glenn.

Mr Townsend was great, he was very flexible and willing to work around my schedule. He arrived promptly, and went to work immediately. Having already given him the make and model number of the refrigerator he was already aware of the possible issues. I have to say he was professional,creative and a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely recommend him to my friends. .
