My husband met them and everything went well.

He misdiagnosed the problem with my refrigerator. I didn't have him repair it but paid the house call visit.

It required an uncommon fitting which he went and got and still finished the job quickly and at no extra cost.

We really appreciated that his company answered their phone on a weekend, which is when all problems seem to happen.

We love Glenn's Appliances. Glenn, the father, talked us through the issues with our dryer on the phone (we had scorched clothes, ineffective drying) and diagnosed it as a ventilation issue, but said his son would contact us soon to come over and make sure. Glenn, the son, came over and worked it through thoroughly, and suggested we get a dryer vent cleaner out ASAP. All in one day, all for $35.00. Glenn and son have in the past worked also on our dishwasher, our stove, and our fridge, and we are always impressed by their down-home, no nonsense approach to appliance repair. We strongly recommend them to anyone.

Glenn was on time and repaired my washer effectively. He knows his stuff! He was friendly, professional and honest. I will definitely call him in the future if I need appliance repair.

Refrigerator wasn't cooling. Called Glenn and he was out in a few hours to fix the problem. He checked it out and went to get the right part. He returned quickly and put it in. My only complaint is that he didn't leave an invoice so I don't know what was actually replaced. My wife was there for the repair and I wasn't.

OVERALL GRADE: F Glenn may have been great at his job in the distant past and maybe he's good at fixing easy issues but this multiple attempt to repair was unacceptable. The lack of communication, the guessing game resulting in my ordering expensive and an ultimately non-essential part, the avoidance of my tenant, and the end result of still not fixing my oven means I will never give Glenn my business nor would I recommend him to anyone (and neither would my tenant). The Details: I called Glenn because I had successfully used him before for another appliance and figured he'd do a great job. However this time was a complete mess. My tenant needed to clean the oven and decided to use the self cleaning feature, however due to a fault in this particular oven model, the oven overheated and blew a fuse. I did quite a bit of research before calling Glenn so I'd have a better idea of what needed to be repaired as well as how much it would likely cost. Attempt #1: Glenn came over the first time and replaced the thermostat, however that didn't fix the oven. He tried to pull the oven away from the wall but it wouldn't budge and told me I had to hire someone to do this before he could open up the back and fix "the board," which [what I later discovered] is what he assumed the real problem. He also told me that he'd have to order the part for the board and that it'd arrive in a couple of days. As soon as the oven was away from the wall he'd come back over and put the new board in. I said ok, let's do that. This visit was $75. So I hired two handyman to pull the oven away from the wall. The soonest they were able to come was a week later. This was $220. After the oven was away from the wall I called Glenn to tell him we were ready to put the new board in and he proceeded to tell me that he didn't have the part. I asked why and he said, " oh, we only put it on hold, we didn't actually order it." W**. Then he informed me that now there were no more of these boards available and I'd have to have the board currently in the oven rebuilt at the cost of $500. I was never told the part would only be put on hold and only for 2 days. It was my understanding that the part was definitely going to be ordered. If that is his policy that was definitely not explained to me and I would have certainly made sure to order the part. My tenant and I were both p*****. I called the oven manufacturer and they said they could get me a new board for $400 and it would take a minimum of 3 weeks to come in. (It took 5 weeks) At this point 2 months had gone by and my tenant's stove still didn't work. Attempt #2 After the board part arrived I called Glenn to say that I had the part and needed him to come back over and put it in. So he came over and looked at the back of the stove and said, "Hmmm, this board doesn't need to be replaced, it's actually another board." Again...W.T.F! You just guessed at the problem and that was your diagnosis? So I never needed to order the board at the cost of $400 and wait 5 weeks? He replaced a fuse and left. But it didn't fix the oven. At this point, almost 3 months had gone by since I had originally called Glenn. Having to hire someone else My tenant was very angry and being 2 days away from Thanksgiving (he had family coming over for dinner because he was told by Glenn that the oven would be fixed in time) he gave up and found an oven repairman himself since none of the other people on Angie's List were available. The guy came out and looked at the oven thoroughly, correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it in 30 minutes. THIRTY MINUTES. Another $150. This whole process took 3 months and Glenn never fixed the issue, and towards the end would not return my tenant's phone call, only texting him his vague guesses (again) as to what the problems were and no mention of returning to [attempt] to truly fix the oven. In short, find another appliance repairman who doesn't guess what your problems are.

He was not able to fix it and he mentioned that I needed to buy a new one but he wanted to come and get my current washer and dryer when I have the new ones instead of disposing them. The washer and dryer are still in a very great shape. I was able to fix the issue myself.

Following my call about refrigerator's freezer leaking water which was pooling in the bottom of the unit, Glenn Jr. arrived & repaired the unit in less than 24 hours. This is the second time we've called Townsends for appliance repair. I highly recommend them as they are prompt, professional and affordable!

I requested a call from Glenn's Appliance Service thru Angies List late on 11/12 relating to our Magic Chef Oven which did not heat consistently. I received a call at 8:30 am the next morning from Glen. I gave him the model number and told him I had bought a Thermostat for the oven over the internet . His son called back shortly and said it would be about $100. My wife asked him to come fix it. He came promptly and found that the thermostat I bought was damaged. Yes it was. He made some calls, went to a supply house and got another thermostat. He returned and installed the new one and checked the oven out. I was very happy with all the extra effort and onsider the $250 charge to be very reasonable. I am happy to recommend his company and will certainly call them for any major appliance repairs we have.

They did a great job. Very quick, showed me how to avoid problem with burner, replaced igniter for oven. Would definitely use them again.

Called and Glenn sent his son out that day. Son was very nice. Explained to me what was wrong, told me how much to fix, and then fixed. In and out in 20minutes. Very nice guy. Easiest fix of an appliance I have ever had.

Glenn Jr. was very professional and worked quickly. I've used them in the past with a different appliance and will use them again.

Called him. Came very quickly. Checked the refrigerator and decided it was the main power board was bad.came and replaced it the next day.Came when it was convenient for us.Replaced board and cleaned out the coils.Off to his next job.We have a running refrigerator again.

I called Glenn at 0900 on a Saturday morning because our dryer would not start. He kept me up to speed with his arrival time via phone calls. Glenn was very professional and immediately diagnosed the problem. Also used our shop vac to completely clean inside the dryer housing. Reasonably priced especially for coming out on Saturday!

I was happy with it. Called Glenn's Appliance Repair 'late' at night and the father answered. I was happy to hear a human voice and not get an answer machine. Glenn's son came out first thing the next morning. My serial number had rubbed off on my refridgerator so we weren't sure what the model number was. The repair man made a calculated guess. He got my freezer working that day and came back the next morning with the correct motor. I was happy with the overall speed, knowledge and what I feel was a fair price on a weekend.

Glenn Townsend is a one-man operation, obviously very experienced with multiple types and brands of kitchen appliances. I called Glenn to diagnose and repair a 24-year-old GE refrigerator. Glenn first walked me through a simple assessment over the phone, but it turned out that the damage was more extensive. He determined that the metal parts inside the back of the fridge were rusted. The fridge still works, but was not repairable. In addition, Glenn checked my gas cooktop on which one burner did not work at all, and the automatic lighters no longer worked on all four burners. Glenn took the cooktop with him, and I expected to not have it back for 3 or 4 days -- but I was surprised when he called and returned the cooktop to me the next day. Glenn always answered the phone each time I called him, and arrived at my house promptly. I paid $75 for the on-site assessment plus $250 for reworking the gas cooktop (saving me the $750 - 1100 replacement cost).

After reading reviews, I called the number provided and spoke to Glenn himself. Through a brief Q&A, we exchanged enough information that Glenn suspected the washing machine had a bad or worn-out pulley. He assured me he would be coming out today and would call when he was on his way. An hour later Glenn called, and half hour after he was here. After tipping back the washing machine, he confirmed that it was the pulley by showing it to me before and after he removed it. Glenn installed the new pulley, uprighted the machine, and ran it through a cycle to insure there were no further problems. Works like a charm! I have added Glenn to our list of approved vendors for our Assisted Living Community for future appliance repairs!

Mr Townsend could not remove the broken icemaker from my late-model refrigerator (mfg date:2012). He did not know the appropriate removal sequence and made no attempt to obtain that knowledge, instead relying entirely on his experience with older-model units. He gave up trying and left but not before charging me $35. I then called a factory-recommended service provider whose repairman completed the entire replacement in less than 10 minutes. I would caution anyone with a newer model appliance to consider the complexity of the task before using Mr Townsend.

we'd had some water appearing around our refrigerator and thought it was related to the ice maker... we called Glenn he said he'd be here within the hour - and he was. he found the problem (a plugged drain for defrosting runoff) and corrected it. then he went off for a half hour to bring back something to melt some built up ice in the freezer. verified that the drain was draining and the water was going where it needed to. really good experience. will certainly call him next time we need help.

Our 30+ year old washing machine suddenly started leaking water. I called Glenn and he immediately began asking me questions that led him to a diagnosis over the phone. He came out the next day, opened the machine up as I looked on, and showed me the exact part he had said he thought was leaking and it was. When I called him and he had told me what he thought it was over the phone, I asked him for an estimate of what it would cost to fix and he said, "$75-100." When he was done, he charged me $85. If you want somebody in a fancy truck and a uniform, then Glenn is not your guy, but if you want someone who clearly knows his business and has been doing this for a long time, then he is great. During his visit, he mentioned that he has a son who is also doing this line of work. I have not had any dealings with the son, so I cannot rate him, but the Dad did exactly what we needed him to do.

Very honest with when he would be here, what it would cost, and the time involved. We were pleased with the repairs and his recommendations and will call him again for our appliance repair needs.

It didn't go well at all. I've never given a bad review for any of our service people. We've been very lucky so far with all of our Angie's List referrals. This is a first. This person was a very elderly man who was responsive, prompt and on time as he claims in his Angie's List description. That's as far as the good review goes. He arrived and looked at the unit, got out a blower and he proceeded to blow all the dust bunnies from underneath the refrigerator instead of using a vacuum, while complaining that these units are a piece of junk. He didn't apologize or offer to help clean it up. I had dust EVERYWHERE in the kitchen, including on my husband's lunch. I must take the blame for part of that because I do not vacuum under the unit regularly as I am not strong enough to move it from the built in cabinets to do that. BUT HE SHOULD HAVE USED A VACUUM -- NOT A BLOWER! I was not at home, so my husband was supervising. He didn't repair anything. He put the unit back into the cabinet, and charged us $75 and left. The description on Angie's List for Glenn Townsend says that they charge a diagnostic fee of $35. He didn't even diagnose the problem, let alone fix it and he charged us $75. The refrigerator still leaked water about twice a week, and has until today (9/10/14) when we finally had our regular appliance guy from Walt's Appliance here today for a washer repair AND the refrigerator repair in one service call. Lo and behold he diagnosed and fixed the refrig/freezer problem in 10 minutes -- it was a clogged drain!! Simple fix which prompted me to write this review. Note to self: NEVER USE GLENN TOWNSEND. And, I can't imagine how someone so unprofessional could have so many "A" grades on Angie's List!! Makes me wonder if the ratings are legitimate.
