used many different movers from craigslist. This time with brand new
furniture, I figured I would get on Angie's list and use the top rated mover.
That was a huge, costly mistake.
The first crew arrived 30 minutes late, and we were their first appointment. Not a way to
start off, but I was willing to overlook that. The crew leader introduced
himself and assured me it would go smoothly. I purchased enough moving
blankets to do the job, because I wanted to make sure that the furniture would
be taken care of. We had over $65k worth of furniture, so I wanted to
make sure that it wouldn't get damaged. Again, this furniture was less
than 2 years old, and in perfect condition.
The last 2 hours is when I noticed things going south. Apparently the
crew leader received a call, and they were going to leave our job once finished
and immediately start another one. At this point things stopped being
wrapped, and things were being crammed into the pod. I called them out on
in several times, but I couldn't watch everything.
Then 1 month later came the unpacked, and this was really bad. The new crew showed up on time, and were very
courteous. At this point I thought everything was still going to be ok.
Again, I was wrong.
The first crew from BlackTie Moving had applied the packing tape directly to
our leather furniture. When they removed the tape, it removed the color from the couch
everywhere the tape was applied.
The crew said they had never seen this before, and mentioned how poorly
everything was packed. They damaged a brand new refrigerator because they
placed it next to my grill that wasn't covered, they damaged my bar stools, the
leather at the bottom of the couch was rubbed raw indicating they drug it on
the ground as some point. They also stripped the Allen screws keeping the
handles on for my other refrigerator.
I was assured by the crew leader that he discussed how bad things where with
Jon West, and that they would take care of me. I have called multiple
times and emailed to get this resolved, and not one response from Black Tie
moving. The funny thing is my call was answered every time prior to the
move. They even called to confirm the moving date. After the first move
they called to make sure it went smoothly. They know it didn't the second
time, and I would assume that's why they didn't call or answer when I called.
I would strongly suggest that if you are looking for a professional mover, and
care about your belongings, that you chose another mover.
We were so pleased with speed and great attitude of the team that we would definitely use them again.
