Amazing Exteriors

*****WARNING, PLEASE READ before buying windows. First, I apologize for the long WINDOW only review: In mid August, I received several quotes for replacement of rotted, wooden windows in our home. I liked Chris, the local Marvin company owner, and the quality of their Marvin replacement windows, as this was what was original to our home. After paying the deposit (half), they were quick to get someone out to measure. Although, that step did involve three separate visits. We received a verbal estimate to have the windows installed by end of November or December (now end of August). However, after 3.5 months, I had heard nothing from Amazing Exteriors (Marvin) and called their office, leaving a message once and speaking with office staff another time, along with a text to Chris himself, to see if there were any updates, but never received any call or email back, other than a thumbs up text. This is not to mention, that six weeks earlier, I had texted AND called about adding additional windows to my order, but received zero return calls. After another week of silence, I texted Chris I wanted to cancel my order (now coming up on 4 months from signing and zero communication). It was at this point he told me he could be ready for installation in another 3-4 weeks. Now, I understand there could be a lot going behind the scenes beyond their control, but I refuse to do business with a company that does not communicate at all with their customers. This only speaks to their unreliability and makes you lose trust, that if there happens to be an issue with the windows or installation, the company will follow up in a timely manner with corrections. Update: I have had to contact a lawyer, as no one from this company will pick up the phone or return a message (now 5 months). And they have not returned a penny of the several thousands of dollars they were paid. Now having more closely read through the BAD reviews on Google, and all of the resolved BBB cases, I see they are all for the window portion of the company and all for the same thing. Poor communication and delay in getting work done as promised. Please read all the one-star reviews on here and about the closed cases on BBB and see for yourself. I wish I had and been more careful.

Placed an order for 55 windows in August 2022, and am seriously worried and disappointed in the firm's lack of communication and ownership of the order. Signed a contract and posted a 35,000 deposit, till January 2023 I had not heard back from anyone at the company since. The only phone number listed is for a sales office and my project manager's phone line has been disconnected in Austin office. After getting Marvin inside sales rep from Texas involved, I started getting some communication back from Amazing Exteriors. The Information I was shared from Marvin Windows, South west region general manager, is quoted below. "My name is April Asher and I am the Operations Manager of the Amazing Exteriors office in Dallas. I have recently taken charge of the Austin office. As you have probably experienced, or are experiencing, the Amazing Exteriors of Austin office has had some significant challenges this past year and a half. We truly apologize and are committed to taking care of our customers and making things right, as quickly as possible. Our manufacturing partners are also working with us & stand by us in our efforts to "right" the ship. We know that you are wanting answers and updates and we are trying to get everything straightened out as quickly as possible. As many of you also know, most projects have been mismeasured and/or mis ordered. Or items were "dropped" from the order completely. We have taken immediate corrective steps, but we have a lot of mistakes to correct. And due to the high quality of products that we offer, that has amounted to millions of dollars in reorders. We need to reverify all orders before they are released into production or manufacturing any of the remakes starts. Our industry is still experiencing material and labor shortages and we don't want to waste any resources. We are in the process of going thru every project & order and ask that you bear with us a bit longer thru this process. Once we get everything organized, we will be reaching out as necessary to verify any information that we need with you. Until we can get fully staffed in the Austin office again, all of the phone lines have been forwarded to our call center in Houston. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration that this is causing but the volume of calls for 1 person to answer is just too overwhelming. The call center staff are not familiar with any projects but are taking messages and getting them to us. We are going to communicate as much as possible and to that effect some of you may have already received emails and calls from our Customer Service Rep, Irene Smith, who is based out of our Dallas office. She is also not familiar with your projects, but she is committed to helping any way that she can. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. We look forward to honoring our commitment to you and making your project something that you can be proud of. You folks decide if you want to continue doing business. After 6 months, and lots of chasing I got my funds back from Amazing Exteriors. I am starting all over again to look for new windows unfortunately prices are higher and I am looking into accountability. Till date other than April Esher, owner Chris P has not apologized or taken responsibility of this. I am small business owner too and work hard. I wanted you folks to decide and learn from our experiences.

I located this company through Marvin Windows. I wanted to replace our current 20 year old homes windows with quality a product from Marvin. After completing the form a gentleman called the following day and offered to visit that same day if we could be available. I told him I would be unavailable but would be OK if we could set something up for this week. Today a day prior to the appointment a woman from Amazing Exteriors to confirm our appointment. She then asked if all owners would be present for the estimate and I answered Yes, I would be at the home. She then stated "according to the Property Tax Rolls there are two people listed and asked if my wife would be present". Finding that a company would research our property tax information makes me feel the company was either going to provide a very high pressure sales presentation or something possibly nefarious. I then stated there would be no reason for them visit and provide this estimate. I plan to reach out directly to Marvin to make them aware and request a different retail option in Dallas Texas.

On 7/18/2018 I posted a review of this company in regards to contracted work, its completion, and compensation for damages. On 9/25/2018 I contacted the company regarding the situation again. This time I spoke with Mr. Wayne Warren. Mr. Warren was extremely polite, professional, and responsive to my concerns. He promised to speak with the owner and follow up with me the next day. To my pleasant surprise I received a phone call from Mr. Warren today. He explained that there had been a clerical oversight on the company's part and that our complaint would be handled immediately. As soon as the issue is completely resolved I will let the Angie's List members know so that you are aware of the rest of the story.

Signed contract on July 27 2018. Payed $2000.00 down. Company made a draw on my account. I have already had to make a payment and as of Augest 18 2018 I still do not have a start date.

We found Amazing Exteriors at a Home Show and made an appointment for a salesperson to come to our home to give us an estimate. The salesman was very friendly and quoted us $3500 for a single door. We thought that was a little expensive but we were promised that we would not be sorry. That they would stand behind their work and if we weren't happy they wouldn't be happy. If it weren't so frustrating, that would make me laugh at this point. It took a month maybe two to get the door in. The door itself is a nice door...no complaints about that. But the installation was a nightmare. It was awful. I could not believe it when I came home to find the drywall in tatters around the door and the framing around the door literally broken. I guess I shouldn't complain, though, because they slapped some paint on top of it all before they left. I spent the entire weekend patching, sanding and painting the area trying to get it to not look horrible and succeeded by about 50%, I would say. I was sure I had heard the last from "Amazing" Exteriors. But they called me and told me they would make the situation right. I wish they hadn't. Instead of getting disappointed once it was a two for one special. I had to call over and over and over just to get the drywall guy to come out. When he did, he said he'd make it right for us no problem! And he'd put us on the schedule. Then more weeks went by and I had to call and call and call. Then he came a second time and acted like it was the first time he had seen the area and suddenly there wasn't much he could do! But...he would put us on the schedule. That was about 4 weeks ago and I haven't heard from them since and I have given up. Instead I paid a handyman ANOTHER $400 to fix the area. I wouldn't hire these people again EVER. One last positive note to end on...the door sticks when it opens! Bonus...

Truly AMAZING experience! They replaced our 40 year old siding on our 2-story home with HardiePlank. The second story has siding on 3 sides...quite a large area. Amazing Exteriors installed an extra layer of insulation between the wrap and planks (standard procedure for Amazing). Only company that offers this product and it lowered our temperature upstairs by 10-15 degrees on these hot 105 degree summer afternoons. Looking forward to lower electric bills. The whole process was excellent. The design consultant worked with us to not only choose the correct colors and board types but also custom designed a pattern for our porch. We love it! The installers were very professional. Always in a good mood and working hard to get our project finished in the hottest part of the summer. They even were able to conceal our TV and phone wires. No more ugly wires all over the siding!!! And they replaced our gutters too. Perfect match to trim. If we could give them 10 stars we would. We definitely recommend Amazing Exteriors. FYI they were not highest price quote either. Great price, great product, great service!

This company installed siding on our house. During the installation the contracted work was not properly stated on the installers work order and we had to instruct the workers what else was to be completed. Not all of the work was done properly, so the crew had to come back a second time. Also, during the installation, wiring was cut. We discovered this when an external outlet was not longer working right after the crew left. They had used the outlet so they knew it was working. Unfortunately, I had paid the remainder of the contract prior to realizing the problem. We contacted the owner and explained the problem. He said he would have the crew leader come out and look at it. I explained that I had stopped payment on the check and would not pay until the problem was fixed. He was surprised that this action had been taken. A representative of the company did come out as well as the crew leader. The crew leader completed the contracted work and the representative (who was looking into the electrical problem) stated that he could not figure out what the problem was. Upon completion of the contracted work, the team leader asked us for payment so that he could pay his crew. My husband paid, even though I told him not to until all the work was done. Upon further conversation with the owner, he instructed my husband to call an electrician to come fix the problem and forward the bill to Amazing Siding and Windows. We did as instructed. The electrician discovered the cut wiring, rewired the outlet, and wrote out a bill (which we paid). That was two years ago and we have yet to be reimbursed. We have contacted Amazing Siding and Windows several times. Mind you, the job that we paid for was $8,000 and the electrician only charged us $100. I find it appalling that Amazing Siding and Windows would not reimburse us such a small amount for damages their crew caused.

Amazing Exteriors did great work for us. Following on the heels of a new roof, we decided that if we were going to go to the trouble of adding a new roof and gutters, it would be a good time to paint our existing siding our replace it with James Hardie product. We met with multiple contractors to get bids on the project. In this mix of contractors, we had some who could paint the house, some who could install Hardie, and some who could do both. It became clear to us at this stage that if we wanted Hardie product, the folks at Amazing Exteriors would be the best choice. They clearly had the most experience with the product, and demonstrated a high level of confidence in getting the work done right and quickly (their installation time was less than half that quoted from our other bidders). We had made a cost-based decision to paint rather than use Hardie, when the Amazing Exteriors representative, Dustin Behunin, contacted me to modify Amazing’s offer and make the economics work. The installation team, led by Roman, showed up on time and completed the work ahead of schedule. Our house is a home-office so we had some concerns about noise and other interference during the installation, but this was not an issue at all. Roman’s crew is the best we’ve had work on our house for some time. The installation did require a couple of follow-up visits for spot painting and other miscellaneous tasks that had to be put on hold due to rain. Amazing did this work in a timely manner, and has contacted us a couple of times to ensure our satisfaction with the job. With James Hardie product, we may not need Amazing Exteriors’ assistance any time soon, but if another project came up, we would be glad to use them again.

Very Good. Arrived on time to perform work. Cleaned job site well.

Just completed the order, windows will be installed next 6-8 weeks.

I told them to call and make arrangements before they came out. They did not and ended up replacing the trim to the wrong door. When I contacted them, they returned and did the correct door trim.

They had excellent workmen who were very punctual and always cleaned up after themselves. Couldn't be happier with the end result. Definitely not the cheapest quote we got, but we felt they installed a superior product and were detail oriented.

I am so happy with my new siding. From sales (Russell), to the scheduler (April), and the especially the installer supervisor (Roman), were so nice to me. I am very picky, and yet they tried to do everything they could to make me happy. I felt the price was fair. They kept me informed throughout the whole process, answering my million questions. My house looks amazing, like new again. Actually it looks better than when it was originally built. I am not an expert on siding, and only time will tell, but as of right now, I am super excited about how great my house looks. I would definitely use them again.

The upshot is that these people stood by their product warranty.

I had this siding installed around 2001.  I thought everything was fine but in 2014 I noticed a window leak in one of my downstairs windows.  This leak was only noticeable during rain storms where the wind blew the rain up against the side of the house.  A normal vertical rain did not cause a visible leak.  I started to think that the siding was leaking and did some experiments (spraying the hose in various places) to test this.  Since the siding has a lifetime installation warranty I contacted Amazing Siding to make warranty claim.

Someone came out and inspected the area, and did some caulking.  I was to let the caulk dry and re-test it.  I did so and found that leak persisted....

I re-contacted them.  At first they did not think that the siding could be leaking, thinking that it would have leaked since 2001 if there was an installation defect.   We agreed that they would come again and remove some of the siding to examine the wall behind it.  But if it turned out NOT to be a siding problem I would pay them for the work involved to remove/replace the siding.  I didn't mind this, as I was confident in my tests and in any case it would be worth it to find the true source of the leak if it wasn't a siding problem.

Once the siding was removed, it was apparent that there was a defect in the installation, a leak that over the years had caused the original Centex siding and some plywood to rot (making a bigger leak over time).    Upon seeing this, they said no problem: they would fix the siding and replace any rotted wood under warranty.   This is exactly what was done.  I was also quite pleased to see that the replacement siding panels matched perfectly with the 14 year old originals.
 
So, I would definitely use this company again if I need siding;  Knowing that they will stand behind their warranty is a big part of the purchasing decision.
