I needed a freezer repaired and called this company based on ratings from some free sites. First mistake. They set a date for the appointment and said they would arrive within a four-hour window. I took off from work for the afternoon and waited. And waited. After the four-hour time for their visit had passed, I called the office to see what was wrong. The receptionist expressed surprise but offered no explanation. She said she would have the field technician call me. I specifically asked if I was on the schedule for the day. She confirmed that I was. So I waited the rest of the day/evening for either a call or for the tech to show up. Nothing. No explanation, no apology, no offer to reschedule. By this time the office was closed so there was no point in calling again to see what happened (nor should I have had to). Now, I realize things can happen and that perhaps they were overbooked, had an emergency, the tech got hit by a car, a terrorist attack wiped out their repair department, whatever. But even now, a day later, they've not contacted me to explain or apologize. That's completely unprofessional behavior. It's frustrating to have to rearrange family commitments, ask for time off from work, and actually lose half a day's pay -- only to have it be for nothing. I'm amazed that they apparently have enough business in the current economic climate to be able to blow off new customers with nary a word. I have no idea if they actually do good repair work. But if they treat prospective customers with such callous disregard, I doubt it. Caveat emptor.
