We are very happy with our experience. Shawn met me at my house the same day I called and walked through my options. He listened and wasn't pushy at all. He was very informative and I appreciated his overall demeanor. The crew came the next day. They were very professional, laying out drop cloths and wore foot protection. We couldn't have been more pleased and will recommend to everyone we know.
Description of Work: They installed a complete new HVAC unit for upstairs, including new condenser, coils, furnace, additional returns and also moved our existing thermostats.

I was disappointed with the company that my family had hired when first moving to our home and we we also interested in a company that offered a maintenance agreement for our heating and a/c systems. The technician, Todd was very helpful and informative. We were impressed with his knowledge and efficiency. And everything was spotless when he left - no fingerprints, no debris! Based on his performance, we signed up for a system maintenance plan with Air Patrol.

I called Air Patrol for a second opinion on work that had been quoted by another company. The first company told me that I needed a new furnace and gave me a price of $4,000. They told me that my furnace was shot and could not be repaired due to it?s age. Air Patrol came out and were incredibly honest and professional. They found the problem and fixed it. They didn?t try to sell me something I didn?t need. They explained what my options were and were very reasonable in their cost of services. First class ? Honest ? Affordable They earned my business and I will call them in the future if I ever need Furnace or AC work.

Two other air conditioning companies had looked at the noisy unit and tried to fix it, but the fixes never lasted longer than a couple of hours. Todd, on the other hand, correctly diagnosed and fixed the problem, which turned out to be a fan out of balance. Four months have gone by and no offending noise has returned! Todd also suggested that we go on a prepaid plan to provide spring and fall checks on our cooling and heating system. So the $350 I paid in August for the service included the next visit. When the time came for the fall check-up an Air Patrol representative called to remind me and scheduled the appointment. I am very pleased with the service, the skill, and the professionalism shown by Air Patrol and they will be my company of choice from now on.
Description of Work: Technician Todd inspected our 3 units, changed the filters, cleaned condensers, and did routine maintenance. In addition, one of our units had been making a loud vibrating sound for months and was driving us crazy when we were outside and had to listen to the noise.

I feel the price for this service is reasonable. They responded immediately for each call. They came in time and finished in time. I gave B on overall, because i felt that they could replace only valve and the blower motor, instead of replacing whole unit. They gave the option of doing that but mentioned it is in worst condition. Other company i called 2 weeks back, they mentioned that this motor could come for another year or two. Some time the diagnosis report changes little bit person to person. Overall they are very good and workmanship is very neat.
Description of Work: My heating unit stopped in the rental property. Service person reported: The bearing in the blower motor is gone and also said smell of gas, due to old valve.

I was very impressed, as I have been in the past, with Air Patrol. I procrastinated and waited until the day before we were supposed to have a cold snap here (not freezing, but still cold). I fully expected to have to wait until the following week for someone to come out and inspect and / or service my heater. but nope ... Shawn said they could be at my house in one hour, because he had a Tech that was finishing up near my house. He (Todd) was here in one hour & checked out my heater. Thankfully, all went well. I plan to call Air Patrol in the Spring for an a/c check up also.

Excellent - Details are above.
Description of Work: We called Air Patrol because they were on Angie's list. We dealt with Shawn from beginning to end. We had just bought our home in Grand Prairie and the HVAC system seemed to be running all the time. I also had trouble finding the filter on the unit which troubled me. Shawn came to our home (as did five other contractors) and after he carefully went over his proposal we decided to go with Air Patrol. They replaced everything in the attic: the furnace, blower cabinet and all the ductwork (that was a really mess). They straightened the runs of the ductwork and added some cold air returns. They started promptly at 9 am and were finished before 4 p.m. They cleaned up their mess in the attic and whatever insulation fell into the hallway. Shawn checked back with us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. IT IS! We called about a month later because the unit stopped running. Found out it was a fuse on the outside compressor unit (not replaced initially) and they fixed that promptly. We are VERY HAPPY with the service and the product we received from Air Patrol.

The job started on time and was finished on time according to what Shawn had told us. His crew worked long and hard and Shawn came by periodically to oversee the job.The system which was installed is great and the house has never been so comfortable.
Description of Work: I got 3 estimates from 3 different heating/ac companies for a whole new zoned heating / ac system. One estimate was from the company which installed our last system and has done maintenance for us for many years. Incidentally, this is a company that has done a good job for us in the past and which is a good company. The second estimate we got was from Air Patrol. Shawn, the owner, came out in person . We called this company based on good reports from Angies List. We were impressed with Shawn as a person and with things he said his company would do to improve our system which the other company did not mention. We decided to go with Air Patrol and were not disappointed we did. They did a great job and in a timely manner. They even installed the system ahead of the date Shawn said they could after I expressed a need to get the job done sooner. Not only did Air Patrol do a good job, I found Shawn to be an honest man who did what he said he would do.I would definately use this company again and recommend them to anyone.

I have called Air Patrol when the AC stopped working. They set up an appointment and showed up on time. The problem was diagnosed in few minutes and repair was performed very quickly as well. The serviceman was professional and knowledgeable. He spent about 15 minutes changing the capacitor. The part itself costs between 15-40 dollars online. I was charged 275 for the part and labor. Seems a little high to me but it may as well be a running rate for such service.

I had another high rated firm out the week before and they told me my only option was a new system since the capillary tubes in my coils were likely blocked. Todd from Air Patrol found the same hi/low pressure readings, but said I probably had coils that needed a serious cleaning plus more coolant. This second diagnosis turned out to be the case. So my first estimate of $6-10K went to $208. While this system's area was warm midday I wasn't in a big hurry since this is our third system. My request wasn't as critical as others with one system down. Air Patrol dispatchers were very profession in the way they requested they service others more in need. I was happy to oblige. I am glad I did.

The initial service call would have been very dissatisfctory except for Shawn's outstanding consideration and effectiveness on the make-good call.
Description of Work: My A/C wasn't cooling properly and Todd came out. After cleaning the unit, changing the filter and checking the freon level, he determined that nothing else was required. The output seemed cooler and we closed the call. The next day, the A/C was back the way it had been and I called to have someone come back out. Shawn came the very next day and quickly saw that the freon level was low. He added a pound and a half of freon and the results were immediate.

Sean Gazor did an excellent job. He came to our home and explained all our options. We had talked to other contractors and were confused about the purchase, but Sean explained all our options and made it very clear. While doing the research, we finally figured that the differences between the different brands is not that big, but what really matters is the installation. Sean made us feel comfortable that he would do a really good job and he did!!! The city of Richardson inspected the unit and it was all good. Since we bought the unit, we have contacted Sean with a couple minor problems. One which he fixed promptly and at no charge and another one where he walked me thru what to do. Actually, The things Sean told me to do, he had told me to do them when we got the unit, but had forgotten to do. Anyway, Sean support has been excellent!!! A few monts ago, our neighbor had some work done by Sean and they were extremely pleased. Even though the work was donea while back, I really wanted to let Sean how pleased we are, and let others benefit from our experience.

They did a great job; I would recommend them and I would use them for future projects! The price was right where I expected it to be from talking to other people who had similar work done. The only negative was the timing in get them out to replace the broken unit. I had told the customer service on the phone that I did not need an esimate; I wanted the unit fixed or replaced because I had a house full of guest (6 people + a 20 month old baby) & the temperature was at 100°F BUT the initial visit was only an estimate. Air Patrol did send the crew out the next day to replace the inner & outer unit instead of making me wait another day?. Thank you Air Patrol! Great job!

Called on a Monday for ac not cooling. The ac had been replaced two years earlier. The compressor had shorted out and needed to be replaced. The compressor was under warranty, but the service to replace and the freon to refill the ac is not covered. Tech was very conscientious about making sure I understood what had happened although we will never know why it happened. We spent a hot couple of days until the compressor could arrive that Thursday as it had to be ordered. Labor to install was $700 and 10 lbs of freon was another $700. It took about 3 hours to install once they started and the house cooled by late that night. Pricing was in line with what I had anticipated due to government regulations on freon.

I was disappointed in the lack of thoroughness of my AC installation evaluation. Shawn arrived on time. When he rang my doorbell he said he had already looked at my outside unit. I was surprised since that eliminated the opportunity for me to ask questions or for him to explain anything he observed. He said he would look in the attic and then come down to discuss his findings and recommendations. I showed and followed him to the attic. I wanted to have the opportunity to asks questions or discuss his observations. He stood on the platform in my attic and walked over to the furnace/coil unit. He pulled out the filter. Explained about emergency drain pan switch in case there is an overflow of water from clogged drainage pipe. He also mentioned a filter dryer while we were in the attic. He stood in the middle of the attic floor, flicked his flashlight at some of my ducts and said it "looks okay." He did not investigate or look at the ductwork behind the unit for size or feeds, he just looked at what he could see from his standing position. After we left he attic (which is upstairs on our second floor), I thought he would ask to see the bedrooms upstairs that were fed by the failed AC unit. Our upstairs bedrooms and den area is about 1150 sq feet (according to county records) and is open to the downstairs foyer and has an open landing (2 story entry). Shawn never asked for square footage information, nor did he ask to see or measure any rooms. All the other vendors that gave estimates did this simple evaluation. Because he never looked in any of the rooms, he did not evaluate the number or sizes of any return vents, registers or air vents. I did quite a bit of research prior to vendor estimates to familiarize myself with HVAC and AC install and evaluation information. I know this step is important to determine the load calculation. Measuring the rooms and evaluating the ducts, vents and registers to ensure they are properly sized for the area is a very basic evaluation needed to ensure the proper sizing of unit and that optimal SEER/EER is obtained once the unit is installed. Shawn did none of this. I considered asking him why he did not do this, but decided that if this was not how he normally evaluated AC needs, that was part of my own evaluation of this company as a potential service provider. After looking in the attic, we went downstairs to briefly discuss his findings. He said he would send the proposal with various options later that day. It would include options for: (1) Full replacement (furnace, AC unit, coils) with Carrier 16 SEER. He did not know EER rating. $7600 (2) Partial replacement (keep old furnace) and install Carrier 13 SEER. He said going to a higher AC unit SEER with old furnace would not be beneficial. If want 16 SEER or higher, would need to replace furnace. $4000 (3) Replace just the evaporator coil - $2000. There were some positives: ( A ) Shawn was the only vendor who did include replacing the evaporator coil as an option. No other vendor gave that as a possible solution. He discussed the pros and cons, which I appreciated. He said if the AC condenser went out at a later time, I would not have to buy a new coil when the new AC compressor and furnace was installed. He said I could use this one, if I purchased it. They would clean/purge the line of the old R-22 refrigerant and get it to where it would use the new R410A. (B) Shawn sent proposal and estimate the same day via email as he promised. His estimate included all options above, plus one add'l option for a TRANE 16 SEER 2-stage furnace (which was actually less than the Carrier) $7300. I am not sure why there was this incomplete and brief evaluation for my AC unit. I had much higher expectations based on the great reviews on Angie's List for this vendor. If I am to pay over $7,000 for a product/service, I want to have confidence that I have received a thorough and complete evaluation. Based on the incomplete and cursory look Shawn gave my attic furnace and ducts, I believe it is likely there was the same perfunctory evaluation of my outside AC unit (probably just to get the make, model, # of tons and the year of the current AC unit). I decided on another company.
Description of Work: Appt w/Shawn to get estimate to replace A/C unit. Evaporator coil had a leak and blockage. This AC unit was for the second floor of our home. Air Patrol was the 3rd of 4 vendors I saw for an estimate.

Response from Air Patrol Air Conditioning
Sorry that you felt that way about my presentation. My goal is always is to make the presentation a very pleasant process. It was over 100' degree outside when I arrived. I inspected your outdoor unit before I entered your house and explained about what needs to be done at comfrot of your living room rather than outside under the hot sun.I did say we will replace the concrerte slab, level the ground under the unit, fix the copper lines and add new insulation to copper line and also replace the electrical box. same as you were told by others. and also put them in writing when I emailed you the proposal. I checked the square footage of your house on Collincad and knew how big your upstairs is before I had arrived. I paused on attic stairs so I can see the ducts running under the unit and also on other side. I also looked at the rest of your duct system when I entered the attic. I did ask you if you have any hot or cold spots in upstairs area. You replied no. that means you dont really have any air flow issue. then I came down and gave you prices for three options so you would know how much each option cost and then I emailed it to you in a very detailed matter later on that day. I have been in this industry for a very long time and I can see things much faster and easier than others and can find answers and solution more efficiently. So you shouldnt take my speedy and efficient approach as lack of interest and knowledge rather than the other way around. After all my recommendations were exactly as other three and probably with more details. Thanks Shawn

Sean called me that Thursday to ask me if he could do the work on Saturday the 21st instead of Friday. He had a few customers who had no air and wanted to get them working again since my air was working now. I told him by all means to take care of the customers he had with no air in 100+ degree heat. He said his crew would be out Saturday morning at 7:30 AM. Again, true to his word, his crew was here before 7:30 AM. They covered the floors to make sure nothing was damaged and they completed the work by about 1 in the afternoon. They were professional and cleaned up everything once they were done. The air is working great. I will definitely call Sean back to have the units serviced every 6 months. He was honest first by fixing the unit, then telling me that I didn't have to feel backed into a corner to replace the system right away. Since he gave me a fair price for replacement and good financing, I thought it best to go ahead with the work. I'm hoping that the upstairs unit lasts a few more years, but should it need to be service or replaced at some point, I will call Sean at Air Patrol. I cancelled the home warranty since they required you use their service providers. They would have covered $1500 of the cost to replace the unit had I used their AC people, but I just didn't trust them. Sean and Air Patrol provided great service and a fair price with honest and integrity.
Description of Work: The AC downstairs was blowing hot air and I called the home warrantly company I had recently signed up with. The company they sent out said that the compressor was shot and that I had to replace the downstairs unit and provided me with options. The AC and furnace are original to the house, about 17 years old, so I knew that they would need replacement soon. However, the prices this company provided were high and the AC guy indicated that they could use the original freon in the new unit...not the more ozone friendly freon now required. I felt uncomfortable about the whole presentation. The AC upstairs was still working and we were surviving so I decided to call other companies for estimates. Someone recommended I call Sears for an estimate to replace the unit, and Sears did come out and provided estimates, but they were sky high. I wasted 2 hours of my life listening to that presenatation. A couple of friends of mine recommended I do research on Angie's List, so I signed up and started researching. I called several companies for estimates and on 7/16, I got in touch with Air Patrol in Carrollton. Sean Gazor answered--I told him the problem and he said that he was nearby and would come by in about an hour. True to his word, he did. I explained the problem in more detail letting him know what the other AC people had told me. He checked the AC inside then went outside to check the compressors. He was outside for quite a while and when he came back in, he said that he'd fixed the compressor. My jaw dropped...I said "You fixed it!". I couldn't believe that he'd fixed it. He said he replaced a part and that the cost for the part was $270 and that if he did some additional maintenance the total would be about $400. This was a far cry from the original company quoting me outlandish prices for what sounded to me like sub par materials. I asked him to provide me with pricing to replace the downstairs unit since I knew that it wasn't going to last much longer anyway. He provided a reasonable estimate with great financing to replace the downstairs AC unit and the furnace with more efficient Carrier products. I said to go ahead with the work...he left the replaced part in the unit so that we'd have air and said that they would be back at 7:30 AM on Friday the 20th to complete the work.

You will not have any problems getting questions answered and they will show up on time and as promised. Bids are detailed and easy to understand item by item. I have referred multiple people to Air Patrol and they all agree this is the best HVAC company in the DFW area.
