My repair spanned two consecutive days because the first technician was unable to diagnose my fan relay problem. The second tech had it figured out pretty fast. Once the repairs were complete the air conditioner worked great. I think the price was a tad high but they always get my units back up and running. I've used AF1 AC on several occasions and they are always quick to get out and their employees are always very polite and professional. I would highly recommend AF1 Air Conditioning. Thanks to Dale and Rick for their great work!
Description of Work: Put superseal in my system to stop any leaking, added 1 lb. R-22, replaced the fan relay.

I contacted a different company for service and was given two quotes: one for a leak repair for $4500 (I was told that my model was very outdated, that the parts may not be available anymore and that the repair may or may not work), and the other for a new unit (quoted $10,000). I am aware that some companies provide a commission to their employees for selling equipment such as new AC units. I decided to call Air Force One for a second opinion because of substantial quotes I had received from the other company. Ari Force One was initially scheduled to come out the day following my phone call, but didn't make it until a day later. They repaired the leak (for $1500) in a timely and very professional manner and the air conditioning in my business is now working great. I would definitely call them FIRST the next time I need service again.

After hearing time and time again that our old system was too small, improperly installed, and insufficiently ducted, we called Air Force One based in part on Angie's List reviews. Chester took the time to explain why our system struggled to cool our home, and what it would take to keep us comfortable. He gave us three price points for new systems and didn't push us to choose any option. We were given time to look over the options without pressure from AF1. After we chose our options, we scheduled an install date, and Air Force One worked with us on our schedules. The crew that came worked efficiently to remove our old system and install the new. The guys were friendly and answered any questions that came up, and they seemed to enjoy what they were doing - even after spending a couple hours in a hot attic. The old system, trash and debris was loaded up and hauled off rather than being left down on the street. They left our house and yard in the same condition as it was when they arrived. We had pretty much everything replaced - outside unit (condenser/compressor), inside coil (evaporator), furnace, and air handler. Some sections of old ducting were removed as well. Air Force One also installed two new return vents, and they installed a new return duct to pull air from one end of the house back to the air handler. They installed new drain pans and re-routed the condensate drains. Our old system was installed in such a way that regular maintenance required climbing over the units to reach the access panels, and was sitting on top of the ceiling joists. The condensate drain pans were inadequate and the drain lines weren't sloped correctly to properly drain the moisture. The new system is properly suspended from the roof rafters, the drain pans and lines are large enough to handle Texas humidity. Changing filters is no longer a chore, it's a simple matter of opening a small door and swapping them out - it takes less time to do than it does to read this paragraph. Air Force One also installed our new Nest thermostat and helped us get it set up on our wireless network. Our home is much more comfortable, and the cooling is more even throughout the house. We're very happy with the new system and with the quality of the work. We definitely would recommend Air Force One to our friends and neighbors.

Dust and dirt was coming out of the a/c unit on exposed areas. Called Air Force One Jan. 19th. explained the problem. Jan. 20th. service man arrived, checked unit, described problem and solution and gave us a bid. Service man arrived about 8:30 the 21st. He worked, cleaning the inside and outside unit at least 5 hours. He covered and protected all exposed counter surfaces then proceeded to chemically water wash the unit inside and outside. He kept us apprised of every step he did. Would highly recommend this company.

I had this company install a complete system (heat pump), replacing my older unit that was leaking and used the old Freon. Almost immediately after the install crew arrived, I caught one of the technicians preparing to knock a hole in my wall in order to install an extra return air vent that had NO FILTER!!! He told me he thought there was a filter somewhere else in the wall... What??? A section of sheetrock and a doorframe were removed to get the new unit into the attic. They were left for me to repair. The AC worked through the summer, but the first time the heat was turned on, the unit continued to run in "cool" mode, blowing even colder air into the house. Service call #1: The new thermostat had not been programmed correctly for a heat pump system. The following summer, the AC wouldn't come on. Service call #2: The condensation drain line must be plugged. I was charged a "blow-out" fee plus a service call charge. Not the problem. Service call #3: It must be the drain line sensor. Re-wired so that now only the compressor shuts off. The indoor fan can continues to run so that hot air blows in from the attic even though no refrigerant is circulating. Charged again for service call. Service call #4: Maybe its the fan motor on the outdoor unit. The part is covered under warranty, so I am only charged $300 for labor and a service call. Again, not the problem. Fan works part-time, but shuts off in temperature exceeding about 93F. Service call #... No nevermind. At this point cooler temperatures were coming. Sure enough, when it came time to turn on the heat, the outdoor unit comes on for only a few seconds before shutting off. Again the indoor fan continues to run, this time blowing cold air in from the attic. I no longer care about warranty, and I know AF1 is only going to charge me more money to not fix the problem. I called another company. They had a technician to my house immediately, and he correctly guessed the problem based solely on my verbal description. My system had been overcharged with Freon by 8 lbs., and the compressor was shutting off to prevent damage. Within 30 minutes, he had restored normal pressure, and my system was functioning. How can Freon pressure not be the first thing ANY company checks?!? Not only had AF1 overcharged the Freon, they failed to identify a simple problem in multiple subsequent visits. My experience with this company was a nightmare. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I put in an email request for service on their website Sunday night and got a call promptly Monday morning to schedule an appointment. They were able to come out that same day. I had a problem with my system not putting out heat. Dale came out and figured out it was due to the thermostats being wired wrong. We had installed new thermostats a few months back. Dale rewired them and checked to make sure the system was operating correctly before he left. He did a great job. I've used Air Force One Air Conditioning before a couple of times in the past and they have always been able to correctly diagnose and repair my problems quickly. I would highly recommend them.

Chester came out and did a full evaluation of the old AC system, gave great feedback on what we needed and explained things really well. I had about 6 estimates and was happy with Air Force 1 due to the fair price and they were the only quote that included adding return air. Chester made it clear we needed additional return vents and it made sense after hearing his evaluation. Install went well, techs were here on time and they had both systems installed within the projected 2 day timeframe. The problems came after the install. I'm no expert when it comes to HVAC issues but I know enough of the basics. I looked the system over and found the upstairs supply plenum was leaking a good deal of cold air at the bottom. The new returns they installed were done nicely and sealed properly but the tape job they did on the supply plenums where the existing ducts connect was inadequate. I also found a good deal of water in the pan under the upstairs air handler which concerned me. I had the city inspector come out right after the installs and several items had to be corrected for the new system to pass. 1 breaker was not the right size, the techs did not hard wire the downstairs furnace to a switch per specs, they did not install the state required locking caps on the freon ports to the external unit. I called and spoke to Chester about the problems that needed fixing and he agreed this was not acceptable and had the techs come back out the next week. The Techs came back out, spent a couple of hours correcting issues and all items seemed to be ready for re-inspection. they corrected my complaint about the supply plenums upstairs and made some adjustments to the drain pan that supposively corrected the fluid issue in the pan. I asked the tech about the locking caps on the external unit and he stated the factory caps were fine and there were no other caps he could put on the unit. I had the inspector come back out and once again the inspection failed. Evidently the techs at this company cut corners and instead of hard wiring the downstairs unit they used the same power cord and ran it through conduit making it look like it was actually hard wired. The factory caps did not pass on the external unit so the Tech that I told me the factory caps were fine is clueless. I called Air Force 1 back today and advised they had one more time to come out and get it right because I am not taking off work anymore to meet inspectors at my residence. I think the problem here is they have some incompetent techs out in the field working for them and there is not much followup on the quality of work they are doing. Chester was on site for the installs for a while but I never saw him again. What really angers me is the hard wiring issue. I've taken off work 3 times now due to incorrect install issues and it looks like Ill be taking off again. And to top it off, if something goes wrong with my downstairs air handler and furnace it likely would not be covered since this company decided to just plug it into the wall instead of doing it correctly and hard wiring it. I'm not happy with the quality and short cuts, I'll be watching this system closely because it makes me worry about what else was done haphazardly. I would not use them again, period.

Came on time. Checked out our air conditioning unit and told me it was frozen so he'd have to come back the next day until it defrosts. I SAID NO! You're not leaving!! I gave him my blow dryer to defrost the system so he could determine what was wrong. Then I asked him if anyone ever asked him to do that before, and he said yes, he's done it before. So my question is, "Why didn't he offer that alternative to me before saying he was just going to leave and I'd have to schedule another "paying housecall" for the next day or when they could come back!?" That didn't sit well with me when our house was 90 degrees!!!!! Literally!!! So he defrosted the unit, and determined we had a slow leak, so we'd have to replace our whole unit for approximately $6,000. I told him we need to think about that so what can he do in the meantime? He said he could put freon in the system since it's a slow leak and that might last a few days. I told him to do that, so that cost us $300 for 2 pounds! He was very nice, professional, etc., but the diagnosis wasn't completely accurate on the issue. We had a second opinion come in the next day to be sure. He was nice but of course could "undercut" pricing with a better unit. And after researching units, the 2nd opinion had a better unit. And phoned in a 3rd opinion. Well, it turns out a unit DOES NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED unless the compressor is broken. We probably don't have a small leak because those are not possible we were told. Our unit is 10 years old and never serviced, so it just needed freon at this point. It is now October 7th, and the house is still wonderfully cold from the freon addition. We don't need a new unit yet, obviously. The 3rd opinion was correct. Not out to make a buck!!!! And didn't. That will be the company we use when it's time to get a new unit. Thank you.
Description of Work: Added freon to the air conditioning unit as the end result.

The person answering the phone as very nice and kept us informed as to the status of the arrival of the service technician. I was surprised that they could come out on a Saturday to repair our unit. I suspected the fan motor, and yes, that was the culprit. The technician was very professional and advised me of the expected cost prior to repair. I thought the fan replacement cost was too high, but what do you do on a Saturday when it's 103 outside. The fan motor comes with a 5 year guarantee, so hopefully its of a quality brand. The original fan motor lasted 22 years!

The crew did great. We've had good service with it ever since! The office screws things up a little bit. They pulled the permit from the city under the old owner of the house. When they looked into it, they saw everything was correct from the appraisal district because I stayed on the phone until we figured it out. We've been working on this for a few days and it still hasn't been resolved. They just don't seem to want to deal with it. We compared a lot of different contractors and we chose them because we knew them. They were on time and the equipment was good but when it came down to the office paperwork, they haven't done a good job.

Response from Air Force One Air Conditioning
Well, actually this was a City of Dallas Inspection Division problem. While all of the City's Tax, Deed and Title records are correct, the inspection division hasn't updated their records in years as to who the current owner is. Apparently, all they care about is that a mechanical Permit is pulled for the property address and that the installation pass City Inspection. The City has inspected the installation and awarded the Green Tag (Passed inspection). We have advised (member name removed) that the City Inspection Office told us that to change the owner name on their records he must personally come down and request the change from a Manager.

I left a message Wednesday evening, received a follow-up call the following morning, and had a person out shortly thereafter. The repair was minor, but the worker checked several things to make sure nothing else was wrong. He also provided a couple of tips in maintaining the equipment. He was timely and professional. We used them to install our AC about three years ago and was satisfied with the job. I only wish I had checked this site before he arrived on Thursday so I could have taken advantage of the diagnostic coupon!

Air Force one came to do a regular spring A/C check-up. The scheduling process was professional. I scheduled the "1st appointment" for the 8:00-10:00 window. The service tech arrived at 9:30a. which was in the agreed time window. I would have expected a "1st appointment" to be earlier. The Tech was nice and professional. During the inspection, they found a number of items that needed to be repaired include adding Freon, replacing a contactor and replacing (2) motor capacitors. The costs for these services were crazy expensive. They wanted $85 each to replace the capacitors. These are $10 parts and 5 minute installation. Since I had already paid over $200 for the service call and testing, the cost should have been $15, not $85. The contactor was $20 parts and 10 minute install, I was charged $129. They also quoted a replacement AC system for $4,800. Two weeks later, I replaced the system for $3,500 with another company. Air Force One is a professional company, but VERY, VERY Expensive. I will no longer do business with them.

I was lucky enough to find this company on Angie's List about two years ago. They are relatively small, not owned by some huge corporation whose bottom line is profit and not customer service. They were prompt. They are also honest. I have been told on several occasions by other companies that I needed a new system but they have told me my system is okay. I had a minor problem with the fuse box on one of my units. It was fixed promptly and at a reasonable price.
