"Thank you for your review of A Joy of Granite. In response to the review, I accept the constructive advice. On the issue of picking out a slab that was acceptable, it is a personal preference of each customer especially when trying to match with an existing granite island. That alone will add time to a job in trying to find the right granite color and movement. I gave the homeowners dates as to when we could install (which was less than a week out) and it was hard to coordinate due to her scheduling or needing to be on business calls, etc. I then waited for her to give me the dates that were acceptable to them. My template guy always has templating material or he templates with sheets. I am not sure as to what happened that certain time and am sorry that that took place. When I am through with a job, I will invoice that week to get paid for services. I do appreciate the response and the constructive comments. Thank you for allowing A Joy of Granite to work with you."

The crew were on time and professional. I had new countertops from start to finish all in one day. I also got a free stainless steel undermount sink with the installation.

"Thank you for your review and allowing A Joy of Granite to work with you."
I am totally pleased with all of the renovations in my home and get excited to showcase my home. A Joy of Granite was totally professional and the quality of work is unbelievable. I had a new home in the time span of one week and am happy with the outcome. Joy and her crew were very professional and totally accommodating. I loved working with her and listening to her ideas in each area of the process.
I would definitely use A Joy of Granite again and am also forwarding her contact information to all my friends and family that need some kind of help around their home. Thank you again, Joy, for your hard work. I absolutely love my new home!!!
Sincerely,
M. Southern
"Thank you for your review as well as working with A Joy of Granite."
I contacted Joy on a Tuesday around lunch. She returned my call around 5:00pm the same day and asked if I could be at the house around 9:30am the following morning. I agreed to the proposed schedule. Joy advised me that the contractor she used was a perfectionist and that if he had any doubts about his ability to do an excellent job, that he would turn the work down.
The contractor was 5 minutes early to the appointment. He spent about 15 minutes measuring and inspecting the cabinets. He quoted the work effort at $250.00. I agreed, and he proceeded to begin work.
The contractor brought in an assistant who helped with the job. The contractor was insanely careful and clean. He covered the floor around the work. He covered the counter-tops around the work. His assistant vacuumed as he cut the stone to minimize the dust from the process. He measured and marked the stone and re-measured before he cut. The same process was followed with the modifications to the cabinet cuts.
IT SHOULD BE NOTED: The cuts to the stone were fairly minor. The existing cook-top hole in the granite was smaller than needed for the new cooktop. The cuts to the cabinet face were very minor.
When it was all said and done, the new appliance looks great. My wife is beyond excited. I'm having our plumber come in this afternoon to change out the gas line and remove the line reducer used for the previous appliance (the new appliance has a much higher gas-flow capacity).
I would STRONGLY recommend using Joy of Granite anytime you need Kitchen Remodeling
I ended up calling Joy back on the 26th.
Result: She was still on vacation but called me back almost immediately and could NOT have been nicer, and had an excellent professional, Martin, at our home at exactly when I was told. All plumbing had to be detached, and holes drilled for big metal screws to actually support the granite - not just glue. And I did not have to call the plumber because he re-attached the disposal and other plumbing.
The bill was the lower of two possible quotes she gave me .
Joy (the owner) is probably the most delightful, responsive person I could have come across. I am sorry I did not get her to install my countertops originally - it would have ben done right.
An A+
"I am sorry you had this experience with our Company, as you can see all of our other customers have had great experiences with our Company. On the initial phone call, I told the potential customer that I was on vacation for the holidays and that I would give this information to my staff. Unfortunately, due to the holidays, we weren’t able to get in touch with her as soon as she hoped, however, my staff did reach out to her a couple of days later. Customer service is our number one priority and we appreciate your feedback in becoming a better company."
Included in this remodel was to perform the removal of shower, bath tub, floor, one built-in cabinet, hanging/re-hanging mirrors and paint throughout our master bedroom, master bath and closet, pool bath and laundry room. Installation included one new built-in cabinet, trim added to another cabinet, heated floor, shower and bath tub. We did not choose to replace our orginal sink or bath tub faucets.
I did review A Joy of Granite on Angie's list and was initially satisfied, but both my husband and I quickly discovered we could have contracted out each service ourself, with a lot less stress. The owner of this company, Ms. Coleman, came into our home five times over the course of nine weeks (with two "no work times" requested by us); one time was to view the project and measure surfaces; the next time was to bring the contract for signature, collect deposit, and re-measure surfaces; the next was to personally deliver a needed part; the next visit was requested by her sub-contractors for their own direction, and the last visit was an un-invited, accompanied visit with the marble provider to prove her tile installers completely scratched the marble, immediately after installation (they walked all over it with concrete/grout on their shoes). There were additional problems, but in general, we were displeased with her unwillingness to manage this project.
Ms. Coleman was in a constant state of nervousness and defensiveness. At one point, the plumber showed me she had ordered the wrong size arm flange for our shower (we would have had to stand against the shower wall). When I called her, her response was "that's the only size they come". After assistance from the plumber, the correct arm flange was installed.
Towards the end of this project, we learned that the main part of Joy Coleman's business is installing granite. There were so many ordering mistakes and discrepancies between her and her subcontractors, that we cancelled the painting portion of the job. We hired another company that finished in four days, for $2,700.00. Ms. Coleman quoted $5,200.00 and we did not want to take any more chances.
The bottom line is that our expectations and quality could possibly be higher than most, but a potential client should be aware of a very different type of personality in Ms. Coleman. She was easily stressed; this was evident each time a negative issue was to be addressed. It also quickly became clear that we were never right - she always had the habit of disagreeing and it was important to her to "have the last word". I would not suggest this company for a major remodel, but if funds are not an issue, the granite installer she used was completely acceptable.
The crew she sent out were great. They worked hard, were professional, and cleaned up after themselves. Joy and the crew made the experience pretty much stress-free. We liked working with Joy so much that we utilized her services again when it came time for the selection and installation of our kitchen backsplash. I would highly recommend A Joy of Granite.
Then contacted her through Angies list, she called back immediately; set up a time for the estimate. She came and measured on a Monday; I got the estimate by email on Friday. Since I didn't hear back from Joy for several days, I assumed she wasn't going to call. I had also called Heritage Stonecraft and they gave me an estimate over the phone based on square footage and number of sinks. I went to Heritage Stonecraft and picked out some granite, they came to measure and will install on Wednesday, Sept. 14. They have been very helpful, friendly, professional.
"Hello, In response to this Angie's customer, I would like to apologize for no callback due to having been out of the state of Texas for a vacation to the mountains in Colorado starting the week before the Fourth of July. I had no reception and no service for most of the time when I was out of town. There were no phone calls recorded. I would have called and responded to this customer if I would have known. Again, I apologize for the non receptiveness due to service issues out of my control. Thank you."
