I had to wait 5 weeks or more overall. I understood that he was vacationing in France but was totally unprepared for him to send over a crew and rip all the beds as we had talked about recycling of some if the plants. It’s far more than that but I don’t want to write a book. Our first visit he let me know up front that they always adjust/fix the irrigation system I showed him a place where we had to do some drainage work and his response was that it would be difficult. He was also told that I had terminal cancer and I wanted to be able to enjoy it in my last days. I told him I wanted blueberries on the south side and he said they may be hard to get. What do we know now. Never hire BOONE without a written contract. He charges 500 up front to do a landscape on his computer. We turned down two slight representations of which none were ever approved nor. Total waste. When complete I wrote him a check. After I was able to walk the yard I stopped payment on his check. He removed the trench I dig for drainage that I covered with stone. The ended a two drains. Now the bed cannot drain on both sides on leave a huge amount of water on the sidewalk in less than a minute. Multiple parts of the irrigation system was damaged and no adjustments were made for new plants especially the very expensive oak we were to replace. I had to go out and buy the blueberries which were easy to find. He said he was going to come plant them but I had to not only pay for something that should have been in the price. Also, supposidly, the two large trees should have been in his price. I paid for the removal AFTER I spoke with him about the price and he said he could not get it done for that. I naturally assumed that would entail a price reduction. What does my front yard look like? Like it’s new construction and we landscaped with the smallest shrubs we could find. That stopped check. He knew I was a disabled vet so he played on that reminder me that he thought vets were honorable. Unfortunately I listened and believed he would complete the job and released the check. So now I have to pay someone to fix and adjust the irrigation system then hire someone to replace the sidewalk drainage. I sent him a referral and hoped that would get his attention and he’d come back. I did get a thanks but that is it. I’ve called as well with no response. I will NOT change this very accurate rating unless. something gets done here.

I called Boone Landcsaping to get a quote for drainage issues in my backyard. Victor was the one that I spoke to over the phone. He was very professional and scheduled a date and time and sent a text to verify the scheduled date. I had to push back the time an hour, they happily accommodated the new time slot. Victor called the day off to let me know that Boone was running a little late, but if I could send photos of my backyard to look at beforehand. Boone made it out to look at my yard, and he walked the whole yard and took his time in deciding the best route to take. He gave me instant feedback on what needed to be done. Boone sent me an email with the quote and suggested fix. Boone is very professional and knows his business in landscaping well.

Well, we thought a great guy, beautiful design. BUT When things go wrong, blocked my calls and now we are filing a lawsuit to get what would have cost him a few hundred dollars to fix. Good thing is I have free legal service at work!

Boone and his team cut down a tree on my property and also ground the stump. Unlike companies I've seen do similar work in the past, they were thorough and cleaned up the mess afterwards as well. I need to do another tree soon and there's no one else I'll call. They were on time, professional, and fast in getting the work done. Not to mention, Boone himself is just a good guy. This company has definitely earned a spot on my speed dial for any landscaping or irrigation work I need at my own home or any of my rental properties.

The work went smooth and Mr. Boone took ownership and corrected a few big problems I was having with my drainage. I did several upgrades and I can't believe how good it looks! must say I'm very happy and will be using again in the future.

"Thank you [member name removed] it was a pleasure doing business with you. I have emailed Adrian to tell him thanks for the referral, and I sent him some goodies in the mail that he is going to really like! But next time you talk to him would you please let him know That I will be doing a site inspection at your property at the end of October to check on things, and if he is needing anything else that I will be in your area. Again I tried to contact him by phone a few times but it goes to voicemail. I'm sure he is busy so I just left a message this last time. It would be great to get in touch again!"

I met with Boone February 2013 to design and install landscaping on my property. He came to my house on two occasions, and while not prompt with his design, he was a likable guy with good ideas. Too bad he's a salesman and not a reliable worker. Without doing my usual thorough research, I hired him and have regretted it since. I sent specific pictures of what I wanted a walkway to look like and it was installed without any regard to my specifications. He ripped it up and started over but not before charging me for the labor for his mistake. He tore out plant beds in my front yard which my section of The Woodlands requires you to have and would not reinstall without another fee. I re-installed these myself because I can do a better job than him for much less (not that I wanted to do that). He also up charged me for palm trees after we were in contract because his price increased. He cut an underground wire to my sprinkler system during installation which he had to repair. I was in a weak point in my life and we made a deal that he could do my weekly landscape maintenance at a discounted rate because of my troubles. Here we are over a year later and I finally had had enough and fired him last week. Over 50% of my flowers, shrubs, and trees have died, including all five of the palm trees that I was up charged for. His crew may or may not show weekly and sometimes they'll show at 8am on a Sunday morning. I have to send emails for anything that needs to be done beyond cutting the grass. He is a sloppy minimalist which is reflected in his workers. I have been charged for services that were not performed on numerous occasions. I cannot begin to express my disappointment in Boone, but especially in myself for not doing my research. Rarely do I have buyers remorse, but every time I look into my yard I think about how much money I've spent only to see dead plants, weeds, and trash. I wish I would have been a member of Angie's List last year because after reading his awful reviews I know I'm not the only one who regrets ever meeting Boone.

He was sloppy, didn't have his own tools and had to work on a Sunday. They didn't deliver on what we had agreed upon and two of my sprinkler zones haven't worked since he did work in the yard.
Response from

"This is a rediculous claim. Your posting something on Angie's list after 2 years? Is there a law that I am breaking that says I can not work on Sunday? If I didn't have tools, who's tools did we use? I certainly did not use your tools? I installed one addition to your sprinkler system yet you claim 2 zones don't work? How in the world was my work sloppy? Please elaborate on this did we leave trenches unburied? Did we just throw the grass around? Are your trees we planted crooked? I remember fine tuning your yard every step of the way, I am huge on details and cleanliness upon completion and I made sure you had none of these issues. Where are you coming from and what is your angle to complain after 2 years? Why haven't you contacted us to say you had a problem sometime within that first year? We are available 7 days a week, remember we work most Sundays. Unlike most landscape companies, I have a secretary at the office from 7-5 so I know you would have had a quick response had you called us during the week. I think your post is unfair. Your accusations are here say and you never gave us a chance to demonstrate our responsive side to our work. Had your sprinkler system given you any trouble after we installed it, I honestly think you would have called and said something, and had we not done anything which certainly wouldn't have been the case, then you should have written your review. You saw that I am getting bashed and so you jumped on the band wagon. I will be calling all of my clients and asking them to post their positive experiences to balance the scale. It's a shame that people attack the livelyhood of someone, over something so small and don't consider themselves at any way responsible for their frustration. My company is an honest company, I employ people to address concerns and do the job right the first time. We all pay our taxes and I carry every insurance imaginable. You took the easy way of not doing anything about anything, and you took satisfaction 2 years later of trying to settle some score. I apologize that this has weighed so heavy on you for so long. Feel free to contact me or one of my representatives so that we can work this out professionally."

BUYERS BEWARE!
The owner of this business apparently takes no ownership or pride of the work that his crews complete.
After a terrible overall experience with Boone’s, I would highly recommend alternative options for your landscaping needs! From the start of the bid process, the communication was poor and phone calls were not returned in a timely manner and they were a “no-show” for the initial consultation. However, due to having the lowest price, we ended up choosing Boone’s to landscape our back yard. This was certainly a poor decision.
I did thorough research on how I wanted to design the yard, but they completely overhauled my suggestions. The end product left a lot to be desired. In addition to the poor presentation, our internet line was cut, several sprinklers damaged, and a large chunk of the new plants were dead-looking in less than a week. Additionally, the ware and tare from the work was sloppily cleaned up and the yard was left looking worse than when the work was started – including a large dead spot from the chemicals they were using . They also charged us for plants that were never planted. Instead of trying to correct the problems, we initially received nothing but a hard time and denial about the issues on the phone. They eventually sent a crew over to fix their damages, but did not send Clint or Boone to make sure that everything was corrected. Instead they simply called after the fact to know when the final check would be made – not to see if everything was corrected appropriately.
At no point during this entire circus did Boone get involved to try to make the situation right and make his business look respectable. I think that speaks volume of what kind of company you are getting when you choose Boone’s. I would have to think that any landscaping option other than Boone’s Landscaping would be a good choice.

6/24/13... we now have completely dead plants for the second time. Grass is popping up from beneath the beds and our landscape looks atrocious. We were promised that Boone's team would periodically check on our landscaping to ensure our landscape was thriving. We have since hired an irrigation company to fix the sprinklers that Boone's Landscaping damaged and it looks like now we will have to hire another landscaper to fix dying plants. This nightmare may never end.

7/29/13... We did get Boone himself to finally come out in person and see the work that his team had done. They did replace a couple of patches of dead sod as well as fixed some of our sprinkler irrigation problems. The plants and trees are starting to come around, looking as though they may actually survive. My end note being, still extremely disappointing experience, this business unfortunately lacks communication skills and their professionalism needs work.

"(Member name removed), I am sorry you feel the way you do. I have never made any attempt to avoid you in any way. I would like to start off by stating the facts: When I took on your job, I worked diligently with yourself and your husband to make sure that you got the best irrigation system on the market. The materials, from the wire we used to the clock and brand names on the heads themselves were all top of the line. When we began working on your property, we worked through heavy rain, and even hail. We worked from sun up past sun down relentlessly, some of the sod that was laid was not acceptable to our terms and we replaced it without question, and without you even having to bring it to our attention. As for communication, I have never avoided you. I have always returned a phone call promptly when asked to be spoken too. I run a very demanding business and I am not a direct point of contact in my operations. You shouldn't take offense to dealing with a secretary or my foremans. Had you asked for me to call you back, I would have gladly done so. When you asked for someone to come out and make modifications to your system after the warranty had expired and they were late or did not show up, why didn't you notify us? I would have comped the service or offered a discount or something to help balance the scales of your frustration. Could you please express more thoroughly what you had done to fix your system as you point out in your review? I don't believe that this was something we were at fault for, but you say it as if we were. You also live on a hill, and it is common for heads to leak at the bottom of your hill as water bleeds from the pipes due to gravity. I know we explained this too you but you probably think it was hocus pocus, when actually it is not. It's a fact. We bought and added check valves to the lower heads to help remedy this problem post installation. When you put a check valve on a head at the bottom it slows down the bleed because it takes longer for the pipe to fill up before bleeding at the next head at the next highest point. Solution? Add another check valve. Do we install check valves during the initial installation? No because it is not economical to charge a great deal for something that is not necessarily going to be a problem. Had we added check valves to all 100+ heads in your lawn, you would have been quoted a price for installation that you would have laughed at. It is not common practice to do this. Last of all, you live way out of our territory and you knew this when we began the work. This was never a problem for us. The reason I bring this up is because you complain that we were late or didn't show up. Now I know if we are running late or don't show up for any reason that our customers are notified as soon as we know this is going to happen. You live 30 miles out of our territory. You don't live around any other vendors either. We made it a point to notify you upon knowledge we were going to be late. What more can you expect? Is it right for you to speak so distastefully of our company? I don't think it is. I would still like to do whatever I can to make this right for you. I apologize for the bad taste we left in your mouth, we do not like to see any of our customers unhappy, ever."

The negative issues with found this company:
  1. 1. High turn over of field personnel, lack of respect of field personnel for the owners.
2. Lack of communication between office and scheduling of services.
3. Billing issues. There is an issue of Creative Billing and charges for non-service dates. The billing is very unprofessional and does not meet standards practices.
4. Lack of communication between office staff, customer and owners. Do not return calls.
5. Field supervisors do not trust owners. They speak openly about the problems with the company with customers.
6. Owners and office personal make promises and do not follow through.
7.
Note: Some workers go out of their way to do extra stuff to keep their customers happy and offset the owner's negative issues.

"I met (member name removed) through The Woodlands Chamber of commerce. We were both members there. (member name removed) was interested in working for my company as a business consulting coach. I began to entertain the offer and in the interim he had asked me to have my company service his property. Approximately a month later during interviewing, it came down to (member name removed) getting the job, or another representative who used to manage a large portfolio with Bio. We ended up choosing the gentleman with bio for obvious reasons. At that point in time, (member name removed) would never pay on time, rather his payments would run 2 to 3 months behind. He would get confused as the lack in payments would stack up so far beyond reason that he began to have doubts if he even owed for the service or not. Had (member name removed) paid regularly or even on a monthly basis, it would have been very simple for both parties to keep records of payment history and resolve any problems without the significant lapse in time between payment to skew ones judgment. (member name removed) has an agenda with posting his complaint on Angie's list. (member name removed) would call my secretary and hang her up on the phone for long periods of time and tell her she was stupid, and verbally abuse my employee's with belittling statements. (member name removed) got services waived very regularly, to the point that we waived the last billing amount we owed him of $80.00 and he became the first customer in the history of our business to tell him we can no longer service his property. We have never told a client since 2006 that we can no longer do business for them. (member name removed) is a crook. It is because he was insulted by us asking him to find another service provider and the fact that we didn't hire him to work for our company that he made this post. It was not due to the type of service he received. If you look at other vendors on Angie's list that he has reported on you will see a trend of vengeance. He has an "I'll show them" attitude."

They were great. They called me back. They came out, visited me in the Four Clover, went away, and called me back with an estimate. They were very pleasant and very professional. There is nothing bad to say about the guys; it is just that I found somebody who could do it cheaper. I would consider using them in the future.

Mr. Boone was on time for our appointment for the estimate. He took the time to walk our yard with us, pointing out where he thought sprinkler heads would go, went into detail about the type of sprinkler heads, controler and other equipment. He gave us a rough drawing of what the layout would look like and wrote down prices of equipment. He emailed us a completed drawing and estimate right away. We had to travel out of town, and he was busy for a few weeks, but he worked with us on the final installation date. They were there when they were suppose to be, they were courteous and completed the job in one and half days and under the estimate. We went with the digital programmable controller and have been very pleased that we did. We recommend Boone's Landscaping for any lawn irrigation installation.

Project is going fairly well. The lawn work is done vary quickly and usually with no issues. However, this time they scalped the front yard badly in one spot. In the process of cleaning the garden bed in front, they pulled and discarded two trailing Lantana that had just been planted last month. This is the first time I've had any issues on the quality of the normal lawn work so I consider to be atypical of their normal service; however this is why I'm giving them a B instead of an A. The other recent issue has to do with contacting them and follow through. They've gone through three receptionists (at least) in the last month, so they are trying to resolve this same issue. I give them an A for effort, but I'm waiting to see how this plays out before giving them better than a B.
I've also talked to the owner about a larger landscaping project in the backyard/back porch - the goal to create an outdoor entertainment area. Same discussion with other vendors, but the scope / cost has made that a longer term (later) project. The discussion with Boone was very positive. However, for one of the options, he directed directed a sub contractor to visit, discuss our wants and provide a project design and estimate - that experience was not so positive. The person did not seem that engaged in understanding what we wanted, and seemed unfamiliar with some of the options we asked about. On his follow up, the primary focus was pushing for a contract signature with very little detail ready on deliverables or even a mock up of what the project would look like. I understand Boone's desire to expand service offerings, but this person did not impress me, and we did not pursue it further.
Having said that, I want to make clear that Boone has provided good service and we are continuing to use this Company.

They gave me a plan of what they were going to do on a piece of paper. They brought in rocks and plants. They took out all the old plants and installed a lot of new landscaping plants. They also came back a couple of weeks later to check if everything was alright. I get a lot of compliments on my yard. I was very satisfied with their work.
