This was a pleasant experience.  The best thing about it, I had used one of angie's special deals.  The tech said I didn't need the special deal.  I explained and showed him the problem in both rooms and he fixed them.  He explained what was happening and why.  He was  very professional and knowledgable .

Having watched a lot of Holmes on Holmes, I knew the importance of having a whole-home surge protector (plus some friends of mine didn't and when their house was struck by lightning, they lost a ton of equipment.)
So when this Angie's List Big Deal came through, I couldn't pass it up.
Overall the service call went well. The electrician was quite a bit late as an earlier appointment had gone long. I called the main office to switch to another date, but apparently the electrician didn't get that notice and showed up in the early evening. Luckily we were home and he was able to install the surge protector.
He did tell me he thought our breaker box was not in an allowed location. However, I informed him that I bought the home five years ago and had a licensed electrician replace the entire breaker box/obtain the proper permits & inspections so everything was fine. He didn't push to upsell me on moving the breaker box and simply added the surge protector. He was very helpful and had me take photos of the installed surge protector and said I might be able to get a discount on home insurance by sharing with my insurance provider that I had this installed/show them the "evidence."
I am very pleased with the service. I completely understand that sometimes previous jobs can run long affecting my later-in-the-day appointment. And in the end, everything worked out and I'm very pleased with the surge protector.

The work was done as part of an Angies List special deal.  The work was done properly (I've done enough electrical installation work to know what I see) and efficiently with new material and including the upgrades that I asked for (two addition circuits were added in the garage).
The electrician that did the work was polite and communicative.  He contacted me on schedule to advise me as to when the work would be done. He showed up on time and worked efficiently with a minimum of disturbance to the house and existing equipment.  He answered all of my questions about the system in the house and  educated me regarding the electrical code so far as adding additional circuits to the box in the future.  The new box works well and has already protected us from a circuit overload that the old box had not detected or isolated.

I called the company and the contact person was very friendly and set up an appointment. The day of the appointment I waited until an hour into the 3-5 time  range and called the company to see if the electrician was in route. The electrician was at another job and couldn't make it that day but set up a time for the next day (Saturday). He arrived early and said he wanted to make up for not completing the work on Friday. He was very nice and it took 15-20 minutes to add the surge protection device to the electrical panel.
Most of the time was taking the panel off and putting the panel back on. The actual addition of the surge protection device was 2-3 minutes.
He said not to remove any surge strips I already had but this device should protect everything in the house unless there was an direct lightening strike.
He gave me the papers in the box (warranty) and after he left I read the material and looked up the device on the internet. The device installed has a 2 year warranty and is limited to the cost of replacing the device and does not cover replacing anything in the house it didn't protect.   Most other whole house surge protection devices have a $25,000 replacement limit if the device fails. The cost is little more for the device but would be worth the additional protection.  I checked  online and the cost of the installed device is $37 at Amazon.com. (product code is SDSA1175, Square D 120/240V, 3 wire).
In the future I will ask  Angies List to provide the exact equipment and check it out before purchasing an Angie's list deal. The device is the lowest possible whole house surge protector available and doesn't have great reviews.  I expected better from Angie's List Big Deals.  This isn't a deal.Be sure to find out what the equipment is before you buy. So the bottom line: the device costs $37 (probably less wholesale) and labor is $162 for 20 minutes of work and  the drive time. This deal is overpriced.

"All customers are encouraged and welcome to call me Vincent (owner) with any grievances they might have with our products and/or services. Although we don’t give 100% satisfaction guarantees, we have given full refunds to customers that were completely dissatisfied. As for square D, we are fully confident in square D products. They have the best reputation for putting out the best products on the market. As for where we buy our equipment, we find it necessary to buy our electrical equipment locally to serve our customers more efficiently, rather than buy them online."

I've learned that a large part of what one is paying an electrician for is not the actual work, but dealing with the city inspectors afterwards. Electrician Bill was an absolute saint in dealing with the city for me.

We had some initial scheduling issues at first that appear to be related to the way they're listed at Angie's List, and one minor "oops" on scheduling where an appointment didn't get passed on from scheduling to the electrician.

The work was well done, and while there was one part of my problem  (a set of 3-way light circuits with asymmetric neutrals) that Bill couldn't (cost-effectively) figure out (I eventually spent several hours on it myself, and I debug complex computer systems for a living) every thing else was taken care of thoroughly and effectively.

But the best part is they're just such nice, honest, nice, and downright neighborly folks. All my interactions with the Electricians of Dallas people were friendly. They took the time to understand questions, think about answers, and make sure the job done was the one I needed, and done the way I needed it done.

I'd happily refer my non-technical friends to them, with the highest confidence that they'd do an honest job.

We have three breaker boxes in the house. Two on the main floor and one in the downstairs study. When we had our heatpumps replaced we found out the 40 year old breaker boxes were shot (we bought the house a little over a year ago). Electricians of Dallas was running an Angies List special and we took advantage of it. Vinni came out and did an excellent inspection of the wiring/boxes and gave us a quote. It was about half of what another local electrician wanted so we decided to replace all three boxes. He noticed some things that we not up to code and some things that should be corrected. We opted to do the code work and save the other stuff for Fall. On the day of install the crew arrived on time, placed tarps over the carpeting and proceeded to work. It took them about 12 hrs to do the job. The work was excellent. The crew was professional. Very pleased!

Joe called and asked if he could come earlier than scheduled. When he arrived, he checked everything that could be causing our problems (flickering, buzzing lights and bulbs burning out). We were also a little concerned about another problem that may have been a coincidence, so he checked our breaker box and make sure everything was in order. I was impressed with his thoroughness, his willingness and ability to explain everything to us in detail, his professionalism, and the fact that he left everything tidy when he was finished. I will definitely call Electricians of Dallas again and I will ask for Joe!

Joe came out and did and diagnostic test on out system.  He was very prompt and very professional.  I discover that one of our breakers was bad, and replaced it.  The whole thing cost more than we expected, but we are happy with his work, and glad to be up and running again.  Overall, and very good experience.

Vincent sent Joe who crawled into a very small attic space. He determined that the damage was limited to the light and set about repairing the problem. Joe had the situation resolved in short order. He even taught me a few things about electrical work in the process. The light works and will not set fire to the house!

I had an Angie's list coupon from a Big Deal to install a new circuit breaker for $1,499.  I had been wanting to do it for some time since I have an older home that had an old Federal panel that I had been told probably didn't even work any more.  Vince arrived around 8:00 in the morning and it took approximately 8 hours to complete the job.  They cleaned up pretty well.  Before they left I asked if they called the City to let them know they had finished so the building inspector could come or if that was my responsibility.  They said they would call.   The following is why I marked them down on responsiveness:  By Friday the city  had not come to inspect the job so I called Vince on the Friday 3/10 and he said he needed to come back and ground my hot water heater before he called the building inspector. His journeyman came back on Monday 3/12 and grounded the water heater.   I called Vince on Wednesday 3/21 to inquire about the building inspection and he said he was waiting until he could come out and meet with the inspector but he was so busy with all the Angie's List Big Deal business he received he hadn't had a chance to call for an inspection.  He said he would call me the day before he was to meet the inspector.  Called again 3/29 and told Vince I would like to finalize the job by getting the inspector out here.  He said he would go ahead and call it in so I could get an inspector here Monday, 4/2, but he would not be able to meet him.  He said if the inspector found anything that needed fixing, he would come out and make sure it was up to code.  The inspector came Monday 4/2 and everything passed.

Every project has it's problems and this project for me was much more than I had anticipated. Vince and his crew handled it with a great deal of prefessionalism and completed the project as agreed to in terms of my expectaions and price. I certainly feel that I got great value for the dollars I spent. I feel confident in saying that Vince probably would like a "do-over" when quoting this job. It was a tough job that Vince got done - and more importantly - did what he said he would do. It is hard to find people that are commited to keeping their word. For that reason alone I would choose Vince for any future projects that I have.

Install means different things to different people.  When the vendor said “They would install the new stove”, they meant, we will unplug the old one and plug in the new one.  Problem was the old one was direct wired.  There was no receptacle to unplug or plug in to.  To make matters worse, a double oven was being removed, so that left the 220 wires exposed.  I chose to have an electrician install the receptacle.  Electricians of Dallas came out the same day, and within two hours installed two junction boxes and a new receptacle.  Now the new stove works like a champ.  The work was done right and looks good.  Great job Electricians of Dallas.

I haven't had them do any work yet, so I can't provide insight about their quality of work. But they did come out to provide a quote when they said they would. The owner seemed very knowledgeable about the work that they were quoting me on.

I have had them out twice. I spent $208 the last time I used them. They were a little unorganized. When they came out the first time, they did not have the equipment that they needed. When they came out the next time, they realized that the equipment would not fit in my house. However, they did get the job done. I will not use them again in the future; I will use another company next time.
Response from Electricians Of Dallas LLC

"I do apologize for not having the proper ladder at the time of the installation. Chandeliers in small foyers can be very tricky especially when your using a 16 foot ladder. The foyer was so small we ended up using an extension ladder instead and finished the job as promised. We gave an additional percentage off for the inconvenience and even cleaned her foyer window when asked. I stand by our work, professionalism and the company, however, in light of what happened in this particular job I have taken steps to making sure this incident will not happen again."

Vincent responded to my message within a couple hours and was able to come out for a quote within two days.  The next Monday he and his journeyman were here on time (which is a BIG PLUS).  They worked through out the day to finish the relocation of the panel.  Which was no easy job since this house has had a couple of remodels (which if you ever had gone through you would know that means some complicated wiring!)  Vince then returned the following morning to finish up the other items.  In both cases he and his team were very respectful, cleaned up and responsive to all my questions.  I would absolutely use them again and would recommend them to anyone else.

David arrived Tuesday and gave quote which I accepted.  He was extremely cautious of having my help handling lamp.  Explained minor drywall hole necessary to drop power to switch.  David had to go to two places to find additional switch and bracket parts, none of which was charged to my time.  Did beautiful job in dining room and kitchen with both jobs.  Time ran way over but price never changed.  I would recommend thic company for honesty, quality of work, and personable service to anyone.

I am a retired Electrical Engineer (and a Registered Professional Engineer).  I had no previous association with Electricians of Dallas LLC and I found their company on Angie's List.  I fully understand and comprehend the task, the materials involved and the quality of workmanship.  I gave  my credentials and explained I was particular and would be able to evaluate their work.  They didn't flinch.    I was told I could stand and watch them if I wished.  This sounds stern but was in fact it was a friendly exchange and clearly showed the confidence in their work.  I did watch some of the work and could tell immediately that my oversight was not necessary.  They approached the job in a very straight forward and professional manner and did exactly what they said they would do, for the price they quoted and in the time frame they cited.  I learned the owner is a third generation electrician and I will use them again if the need arises.

Vince was a very personable fellow and seemed to be extremely knowledgeable. He was very patient about explaining things to me when we were talking through the project. He mentioned some phrases that were not familiar to me so he took the time to explain those to me. He seemed to be a very calm and orderly guy which was nice when we were dealing with electricity.
