The American Leak Detection very much missed the mark in finding our leak. We were forced to negotiate with the company for our money back/reduction in the invoice.
Response from AMERICAN LEAK DETECTION - AUSTIN & SAN ANTONIO

"Our technician did testing at this property and located the best indications of a leak in front of units #2 and #3 where the service line may branch off the main line. We were contracted by a management company and marked the leak location, later showing it to our contact person there who hired us. We collected a deposit as proposed and sent an invoice for the balance along with the report. Never were we notified in any way, by anyone, there was a question or problem with the location we indicated. There was a delay in payment of the balance and we had a few conversations with management following up on the payment; the invoice had apparently been lost and copies had to be emailed. Never was there a remark about the accuracy of the test. No attempt was ever made by our client (the management firm) to have the bill reduced, nor negotiated; nor was a request made for a refund or anything of that nature. As far as we have known for the last year, there was not an issue except for the slow payment on the balance. We have never had contact with/knowledge of the member who posted this review, so we were quite surprised to see this review one year later. If we had been notified in a timely manner of any issues with the leak location, we would have addressed their concerns immediately."

I scheduled the appointment in late December and they came out in early January. The fee for finding the leaks is $400. If they find/fix a leak and there happens to be another one (can only find one leak per line at a time) they will continue finding leaks for free.
The workmen came to the house on a very cold and nasty day and found the leak quickly and indicated that it was near the skimmer. They said that if the skimmer didn't have to be replaced, it would be about $800.
They then wrote up a detailed report and described the options for repairing it. They offered to do the work which would be guaranteed.
I opted to have them do the repair which they did a few days later. It was done on time and everything works great now. They had to break two holes through the patio that they patched very well.
All the pool (leak) repair companies were booked long into the future, so I would recommend getting on their calendar asap.

Employee was very punctual and couteous. Found 2 places where it leaked. Instructed my husband on what to get and how to fix the pool in the cheapest manner. We are very happy with the results!

Fabio did a great job - and was so informative! I learned a lot about how the pool system should work from him. Felt like I got a lot of advice and value for a standard inspection.I would highly recommend them.

After the big rains a short while ago, my pool suddenly began to leak about an inch a day. I called American Leak, who gave us a date a week in the future, but offered to put us on standby for cancellations. Later that same day, they called back and said they could come the next afternoon.
That afternoon, as promised, they called to advise they were on the way. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Noel Gutierrez showed up and got to work diagnosing the issue. He first told me that he had found a loose screw in the light that was letting a lot of water out. He tightened up the screw then covered it up with epoxy to keep it sealed. He left the light uninstalled, sitting on the side of the pool, so the epoxy could harden undisturbed. He said he would return the following day to reinstall the light. He then continued diagnosis and reported that there were no other leaks.
There was no charge, since we are still under warranty from a bigger leak job they performed in August last year. This was a surprise, because their documentation said that the warranty was 30 days!I filled the pool and noted the level with a piece of tape. The following day it was still at the same level - apparently the leak is fixed fine.
Mr. Gutierrez returned the following day, as promised, and reinstalled the light. Everything looks to be completely shipshape at this point.

They were very informative, left a detailed report including multiple options for getting things fixed and answered all my questions. I would use these guys again in a heartbeat although, I hope I never have to.

I did not speak to them as our owner did. What impressed me the most was that there was a huge amount of dirt that they had put on the floor in the middle of the bathroom and how they had cleaned it afterwards. It was very clean after they were done. They did it without any broom and they put it all back together perfectly. It was very nice. They were reliable and did what they said they would do. I had no way of comparing the price as I did not know what other service providers charged but I thought it was reasonable for the work they had done. Their quality of work was excellent.

They did an excellent, outstanding and thorough job. It's going to be quite expensive to repair. However, they have the tools and the skill or the experience to find the problem which the other plumbers weren't able to find. They also got it on camera and so, there was no question of where the problem was. Whereas the other plumbers realized that there was a problem, but never had the tools to diagnose exactly as to what the problem was. We have been dealing with this issue from the time we moved into this house which is probably 4 years now. We wanted to get it resolved, as we are planning to sell the house in another 6 months. The price was lower than it could have been. They gave me a range and the final price was in the middle of the range which was good. They are very popular plumbers and they told us that it would take 3 weeks before they could get to us. However, they were able to get to us 2 weeks earlier than what they had originally specified. We didn't have an emergency situation and we could have waited for 3 weeks, but they exceeded our expectations from the performance stand point. Their punctuality was unbelievable and they were here exactly to the minute. The plumber came from San Antonio and I was very impressed with their punctuality. The plumber made a detailed drawing of our house and he apologized when he made one little mistake. He said that it would be taken care of when the final drawing is done. His scribbled notes were like engineering quality drawings and I know that, as I am an engineer. He did a scale drawing of all the plumbing lines in our house. They had estimated $ 1200 and the bill came up to $ 900. The price was for detection and they haven't yet fixed the problem.

They guy was great, the equipment was awesome, and he found the leak quickly. He listened to all of the pipes inside, pumped an inert gas into the system, then he was able to detect where the gas was coming out. I didn’t compare the price with anyone else but the price seemed fair because he was doing pretty technical stuff. He came out the day after I called, he was right on time, and he was very professional. If I had another problem, I would call them in an instant.

Noel is a very pleasant man who arrived on time and was very professional throughout our dealings. I like to understand what is going on and he was very patient in answering all my questions. He found the leak and sealed it temporarily at no extra cost. He told me I would be given an estimate for the repair within 2 days and if I chose not to use his company they would be happy to send the report to whomever I chose to do it. I appreciated not being pressured into having the work done by them. The company followed through with a diagram and a good description of the problem and a price estimate. I asked them to do the work because I had confidence in their judgment and the work they had already done. They are pros and though not necessarily the cheapest I knew I would have a first rate job with a good guarantee from a solid company. I set the date and I was pleased to see the same man who had given the original estimate. Noel was very punctual as promised. He was very careful of my property and the pool equipment before lowering the pool level and again patient with my questions. the bill was the same as the estimate. I appreciated knowing ahead of time what the cost would be.

The price was a little expensive but they were the only ones that could find it. They have the specialized tools to find it. They came on time and it took an hour. They were good.

Our experience was great and we have recommended them to others. They are very structured meaning they make specific appointments and then come on time. They did the work and left everything clean. Basically they do what they say they are going to. The price was reasonable for the work done and how long it took.

American Leak Detection has been very reliable and honest each time we have had them do work for us. Their prices are fair. This last time, we had a leak that they fixed and it didn't solve the water loss. Bruce, the owner came back several times to keep looking. Nothing was found. We were still losing water and so two of them came back out and they found the problem using a different amount of pressure in the line. The repaired the second leak free of charge since it wasn't found the first time and took a while for them to locate it. Now our pool is good to go!! If you have a leak in your pool, USE THESE GUYS. They will save you money in the long run because they will do it right (I tried using someone else and he wanted to dig up all the sundeck to try and find the problem and it was going to cost me an undetermined amount of money). ALD provides written estimates and written summary of work performed. VERY professional. We do have one area on our sundeck that needs to be resurfaced with a grout color closer to our decking (from a previous repair). They said they would touch it up. I need to call and request this again, I'm sure they will come and take care of it. You will need to schedule them in advance. I'd say 1-2 weeks is about average. The service all of Austin (and I think San Antonio).

WE FELT RELIEVED THAT THIS COMPANY FOUND THE LEAKS IN OUR POOL FAIRLY QUICKLY AND PAINLESSLY. THEY WERE VERY THOROUGH AND EFFICIENT. WE FELT WE COULD TRUST THEM. THEY WROTE OUT A VERY DETAILED ESTIMATE, AND THEN SPENT EXTRA TIME EXPLIANING WHAT THEY PLANNED TO DO. IT WORKED!
