+ -1 moreI purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for Steiner Saw Service. Mr. Steiner was very quick to come over and discuss my options for my deal and what was needed to be done at my house. I am a new home owner, who knows next to nothing about trees or plants. Mr. Steiner was unbelievably helpful in providing information on the trees and shrubs that I currently have and how they will effect my yard and house in the future. He was also very helpful in providing alternatives or options for me to possibly plant in the future. As a new home owner, I am of course also on a budget. Mr. Steiner was very understanding and provided me several options in what I could get done now and what can be saved for later. I would definitely recommend him and his crew. They did a very good job; and, besides certain trees being trimmed or removed of course, I could not even tell that they had been there.

+ 0 moreI want to start off by saying the past 6 months of my house owning life have been rocky. New AC, slab leak, foundation repairs, various additional issues..I've been through the wringer. Based on my previous experiences with tree trimming services I had a pretty low bar for quality set. That was all thrown out the window after talking with Geoff for 10 minutes and looking over my trees and yard. He had not only a wonderful eye for detail, but an actual passion for the long term health and aesthetic of my yard. He broke down(in simple terms for me) the different ways of making proper cuts and trims to help the trees flourish. He also went above and beyond by helping me begin the process of revitalizing my soil from where the foundation repair had left me with only dug up clay. His crew was up and going before I could even take a sip of my coffee. His crew is a whole different success story for me. Finally I had a work crew in my yard who seemed to be knowledgeable and took the time to chat with me about what they were doing individually and also give me some help on long term care. My yard was full of things to do and half way through the day it was a mess of branches, limbs, leaves and other debris. By the end of the day, my yard was spotless, visually pleasing and vibrant. I can't think Geoff and his crew enough. There is hope out there for me to trust contractors again, I just wish I could hire them to do everything for me. My low bar for work has been raised by the Steiner crew to a level other folks are going to have to do backflips on a rocket ship to reach.

His crew removed a dead tree for us and trimmed several others. Cleaned up and removed all debris. Price was in line with other quotes we received. Plan on using Steiner again.

The work and subsequent clean-up was just as promised. We definitely will use Steiner Saw Service in the future.

He also hauled away the larger limbs to be donated to a needy family in the country, who only heated their home with a wood burning stove. + -1 moreContacted the provider the day of purchase. Jeffery, the owner came the following day to give us an estimate. He looked over our trees and talked about different options. He never gave us an estimate, but said he would email a quote in a few days. A week passed and still no email. My husband called and left a message. We soon received an Email from Jeffery asking if we had a made a decision. We still hadn't received any estimate for the job. Another week passed and he finally sent the quote over. It was extremely high for the job we were considering to have done. After discussing our options we decided to just have the tree trimmed verses removed. We contacted Jeffery, he said he could get us on the schedule pretty quick and then we didn't hear from him for several weeks. After multiple calls, we finally got in touch. He informed us he was waiting to get more customers in our area so he could do them all at once. Another week and half has gone by, and we now can't get ahold of Jeffery after multiple calls to him. We've decided to trim the tree ourselves.

+ -1 moreCrew arrived at appointed time and worked diligently until job was done. Crew was very careful to ensure no damage to roof or home from falling branckes. Advised that one tree we had felt needed to be removed was still very much a healthy tree and could be kept for several more years before removal was necessary (this probably cut into his bottom line on this job). Owner/Crew Chief had great "bedside manner," spending a significant amount of time with Landowner and Tenant, explaining to them what needed to be done and why. Overall, we received service on entire yard for about the same amount we had been quoted for removal of just one tree. We were highly pleased and will use this service again in the future.
Description of Work: Trimmed and shaped multiple trees and shrubs on property. Advised Landowner and Tenant of what he proposed and why. Hauled away all debris, leaving a very clean yard at departure.

+ -1 moreGeoffery removed a large cottonwood tree in the backyard. They arrived early morning at 8am and worked all day till 4p to get the tree down. This was a difficult job given that neigbours and my roof were next to the tree but it was handled professionaly and with utmost care. Goeffery was on ground all this time and was personally directing the crew on the job. I was very pleased with the service and will use them again in future.

+ 0 moreEverything was great from start to finish. I needed 5 trees trimmed and wanted to clean up or remove multiple overgrown Crepe Myrtles, hollies and evergreen bushes in the backyard. Geoff responded quickly to my initial contact and arrived on time to provide the estimate. He offered suggestions on what should be done including why it should be done. We met on Friday and Geoff said he and his crew could do the work on Monday. He and his crew (4 total) arrived on-time and worked most to the day to accomplish the job. The work exceeded my expectations in every regard. They also did an excellent job cleaning up. Geoff was on-site (and worked) the entire day.

+ 0 moreWhen I got home and looked at everything that had been done, I was extremely pleased. Trimming the large oak tree made a huge difference not only to me but my neighbors as well. Geoffry called to see if everything was satisfactory and explained why he had left some lower branches on a young red oak that needed attention as well. He was very professional and has a very good personality. I will definitely use this company again come the spring.
Description of Work: I had a large oak tree that had grown into the power lines and three crepe myrtles that needed attention. I made an appointment to have them trimmed and the ice storm hit so the work was delayed a few days. Once everything started to melt Geoffry called to let me know when his crew would be coming.

Price - i shopped around and his quote was reasonable, the exceed part is that he charged what he estimated and didn't 'identify' any 'opportunities' to charge more, which can often happen these days. Skills - He was truly knowledgeable about pruning trees, not just a landscaper with a chainsaw. We've never had these trees professionally pruned, just the lawn guys trimming a branch here and there, so it was about time; he took the job in stages, collaborating closely with me to ensure that the quality of the work would shine through and that my trees would be in good 'shape'. I am so VERY pleased with how the job turned out. Professional demeanor- he was excellent to interact with; sometimes when you meet someone that really knows their stuff, they can come across as an arrogant know-it-all, Not Geoff, he carefully explained the components of the job, each step of theway and his approach was to collaborate with me to achieve the desired end result and protect my trees.

+ -1 moreWe had a very large overgrown 25 ft tall crape myrtle tree in front of our house that needed trimming. And we also had two smaller crape bushes on each side of the front of house that needed sprucing, as well as overgrown patina bushes along an 80ft length of our side yard. We contracted Steiner saw service for this job. The owner and two other employees arrived on schedule. They tackled the massive crape first. They had to climb into the tree and surgically remove the proper branches. Trimming this type of crape takes a great deal of experience to do it right. Doing it wrong can kill the tree or deform future growth. Steiner did an outstanding job. They also trimmed smaller crape bushes on front of house, as well as patina bushes overgrown along a 80ft length of our side yard. Excellent work there as well. When finished with all the work, they removed all the cuttings and left our yard like it was before they arrived. We are very pleased with Steiner Saw Services work!!!

When scheduled, he called the morning of, promptly on time. He sent two men out. The tree was cut as discussed, limbs removed and yard was raked cleaner than before they got there. The job took 2 hours from start to finish. Would highly recommend him!

He said because of yard being so soft would have to manually carry all cuts across to drive way which could cause an additional day and charge. Stated daily charge but did not get a written bid just verbal. Also stated that he would have to hire a second party to grind down stump.
Description of Work: Did not hire this gentleman. Very polite and informative. Did not hire because would have had to hire another party to grind down stump at additional cost. Pricing was mid line without other bids but would have to hire a second party.

They did an excellent job. My husband "THE Perfectionist" was very impressed. Can't go wrong using this provider.

They were on time and wasted no time preforming the work.They spent almost four hours trimming two large trees and cutting down another dead tree.The price included the Angies list discount. They cleaned up everything and gave me a lot of good advise for caring for my trees. Normally I trim my trees myself but most of what needed trimming was close to the top of the trees and too high for my comfort. Sometime you just got to call the pro's.

+ -1 moreWorkmanship, in so far as he went, was fine. Sadly I cannot recommend an individual who blatently disregards his other obligations. So my take on this matter is don't put your faith and $$ into someone who disregards normal courtesies and won't respond to your calls.
Description of Work: We had a rather tall pine that died by the spring of 2012. We selected Steiner because of the ratings given the company. I called Mr Steiner on a weekend and he was on the job the next week. He is a pleasant man whose employees did an excellant job with care. During our subsequent discussions he saw the Ham antenna I had and indecated he wanted to do that sort of thing. As we visited the subject I advised him that I had an excellant radio and related items that, if he desired, could be used as part payment-some I would give him outright. He apparantly checked the value of the items and agreed to accept the radio as worth around $450 as part payment. I also had several high value tubes for it as spares if he wanted to include them in the cost. I also had an extra tuner and mikerephone I included in the deal for no extra cost and worth several hundred dollars. I had an excellant VHF scanner which, if he did not want, I wanted back. I also loaned him a roll of heavy copper wire for grounding with the understanding that he could use what he needed-not nearly the entire roll-and return the rest. I included full technical data and many Ham radio magazines-no charge. Since then I have tried repeatedly without any success to contact him to return the items other than the radio transceiver to me as they had significant value. He never responded to at least a dozen calls which made me seriously question his integrity. To this day I have not received a phone call response and frankly I am disgusted by his lack of concern for my items. He got an excellant deal and it appears that I got a bum deal. In fairness, his work was good but it takes more than that to put trust in an individual. I delayed in responding to Angie's hoping that he would respond. No such luck.

He charges by the half day and it took a little more than 2 full days to finish the job on my property. They did a great job. He had a crew who knew exactly what they were doing. He did everything he said he was going to do.
Description of Work: Geoff trimmed 4 large pecan trees, 1 large red oak, 2 lage live oaks, and trimmed various shrubs and bushes around the property.

+ -1 moreFabulous! A large tree limb had fallen into my pool, but part of it was near some low voltage wires. It was a potentially dangerous situation. Unfortunately, I couldn't be home - son's graduation. Then, I was leaving immediately on vacation. I called Greg. He understood the problem, promised to come the next day, and did. The limb was gone from the pool and the other fallen limbs were gone as well. I goofed and missed his text to leave the check for him to pickup. He was patient and gave me an address for payment. Greg was polite, professional and efficient. I'd hire him again.
Description of Work: Greg, et al removed a huge limb (which partially hung above the phone and cable lines) from my swimming pool. They also cleaned up the other rather large limb that had fallen -- all while I was gone.
