Worked on my yard the entire day and didn't sit around or waste time. They picked everything up and were very professional. When they came to give the estimate the guy obviously knew what he was talking about and was very honest about what needed to be done. Pointed out a tree that needed to be cut down before it became a problem for our neighbor and us. The work looks terrific!

Overall, it was fine.  He was a little over aggressive.  It was done in the fall when all the leaves were off.  So everything looked really stark but when they leafed out again, it looked fine.  I was a little surprised at how much was taken off but they did well.  There were additional charges.  I paid about a couple of hundred more but the one of the trees was larger and it was more time consuming than what they had allowed for the package.  The job was done within a day; they were quick.  I wasn’t home when they did it.  Everything was cleaned up.

Mr. Steiner and his crew trimmed all my trees, front and back yard, and there wasn't  a single stick left behind.  I have had trees trimmed before but I have never seen such a professional job.  I was blown away when I got home that evening and saw the results.  These trees range from 12 years old to over 100 and I interviewed several companies before I chose Steiner.  He was very clear in what they would do how it would be done.  Very knowledgeable about trees, and that means a lot to me.  He told me during his estimate that I wouldn't have to have these trees touched for another 5 years at a minimum.  From the looks of the trees, I believe it.
On another note, I got him to start accepting credit cards :)  A big plus.

The crew arrived and began pruning on the large oak tree.  Geoffry arrived and we reviewed all of the details and he provided a timeline of how the work would progress.  All the work was completed without incident and the crew cleaned up very nicely.  Geoffry explained what type of fertilizer I should use and how/when to apply it so that all my trees would benefit.  Overall, the experience was great with clear communication and a job well done.  I look forward to using Steiner Saw Service in the future whenever the need arises and at least periodically to keep my trees in good health!

It had been five years since my last tree service and my healthy trees were in need of some help. In addition, I made the decision to remove a huge Japanese pine tree, which was about 25 years old. I turned to Angie's list and selected three super service award winners and requested bids. In addition, I also contacted the company that had provided tree service five years ago. This was an excellent company, but VERY expensive. I spoke with each of the companies, and I have to say I would have been comfortable using any of them. However, Mr. Steiner of Steiner Saw Service was a clear stand-out. Geoffry Steiner came to my home and spent over an hour evaluating my yard and trees. He is an excellent listener, and listened to my concern regarding my neighbors' properties and how my tree growth affected them. Clearly, he knows his trees. He educated me on the fertilizing needs of various varieties, as well as their growing habits. I do not claim to be very knowledgeable about plants, but moving to Texas forced me to do a lot of reading in order to have a semi-successful yard. In my home state of Ohio, everything grows and hardly anyone has a sprinkler system! The soil is rich and loamy, but Texas soil is very different! Mr. Steiner is the first professional I have ever talked with who is diligent in sterilizing his pruning tools. I was really amazed when he mentioned this, because I have read how mistletoe can easily spread from tree to tree when tools are not sterilized. So I was impressed. About a week after his visit, I received the quote for the work. His bid was not the most expensive, but it was also not the lowest. He offered me the option of a flat day rate for his whole crew, which would be less than charging for individual services. I scheduled the two-day service. Mr. Steiner and his climbers arrived at 7:30 am on day one and methodically worked through the 11 trees on my property. I have two huge towering pecans which are about 80 years old. They are stunning and this year they were heavy with nuts. Mr. Steiner "reads" his trees. He begins by shaping the tree to encourage upward growth, but doesn't make radical cuts. He doesn't remove any more than he has to, and would rather repeat trimming instead of removing too much at one time. One of his tree climbers has been with him for 16 years, which signals to me that he is a fair and valued employer. Three and sometimes four men worked in the trees all day, clearing and picking up the branches and hauling them to the front. They were careful to move my patio furniture and decorative pots out of harms way. The second day, they finished the last of the trees before taking down the pine. It took several hours and at my request, they cut and stacked a portion of the wood for my neighbor, who has an outdoor fireplace. On the third day, Mr. Steiner personally supervised the loading of an enormous pile of wood and branches. The machine for the stump grinding arrived; the stump took almost two hours to grind. The fine wood chips were spread around the flower beds and the street was swept clean as a whistle. In a word?awesome service! We could not have been more pleased and look forward to calling Steiner Saw Service in about five years!

Easy to schedule with and very nice and professional during the scheduling.
The execution was left much to be desired. Promising to clean up the bush but wasn't being done. Got 2 small trees in the backyard that I thought was initially part of the quote but found out that they weren't. They still did the job anyway but it was a pain and I didn't even feel to ask them to clean up the bushes anymore.
A bit disappointed with the execution.
Got a call back said that they will fix it and do it right but has never done it. Seem to be a pattern of overpromising and under delivering.

We had a small tree in our side yard that fell onto our house during a storm on Thursday afternoon. I contacted four companies, including Steiner Saw Service, on Friday morning. Out of the four, only two even took my information because there was so much demand for tree services after the storm that came through. The third company never called back about coming out to give an estimate. Geoffrey, from Steiner, took my call right away and then asked me to send my information to him via text message. He replied within an hour and said he would be out to give an estimate by noon. He arrived well before then and quoted us a very fair price. He returned with a team on Sunday morning, and they removed the tree in about 45 minutes for the price that we had agreed to. All of our interactions with Geoffrey and his crew were very pleasant and professional. They were responsive and efficient and provided a wonderful overall experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Steiner Saw Service and would certainly contact them again in the future!

I called for a bid and they responded met me at the property. They were very profesinal and easy to work with. We had several special requests where to stack the wood and several other little things. They did everything very well and we were very pleased. I have already referred them to several friends that need tree work.

Mr. Steiner and crew did a first rate job.  Let me tell you about it.

First he came to my house and removed a large tree branch from the electric service line.  The electrical line was straining under the weight of the branch and Mr Steiner removed it in short order. He gave me an over view of the work needed, made very good suggestions about what needed to be done and what did NOT need to be done and a cost estimate on the spot.
Two days later his crew returned, let themselves into the back yard and created the lovely trees I'm sitting under while I write this.
His crew trimmed three larger trees, a live oak, pine and pecan, that were hanging over the roof and shading parts of the yard that needed sunlight. They did an excellent job of creating a canopy that will be worry free for years to come.
The clean up was beyond what was expected and the final verdict was exemplary. Due to unfortunate circumstances beyond anyone's control Mr. Steiner's crew was not aware of an agreement to leave a portion of the cut pecan wood for cooking. When we reminded him the wood was delivered and stacked the following day.  It was even cut into smoker sized portions!
It was also the day he had to come back because a certain person who ALSO lives at the house put a wrong name on the check.  Mr Steiner waited patiently, at the door, while this was corrected.
I was totally impressed. Very knowledgeable, professional crew!
A word of warning: Steiner& crew are very busy people, schedule your service as soon as you think it's necessary, you'll be glad you did.

Mr. Steiner is obviously busy, and we had a little trouble getting the work scheduled, but in all fairness, I told him there was no rush.  It took about three calls before we could actually get a date scheduled, but he always called me back very promptly. Personally, I respect a contractor who is busy, which tells me he has no shortage of work.  But being responsive is also important in any service business, and this he was.  So, no problem!  He came out and we discussed my issues.  I had 4-5 large oaks that needed minor grooming, and three ornamental trees that needed to be "re-shaped."  He seemed to understand what I wanted, and offered suggestions too.  I don't think he was there personally to do the work when his guys came, but he must have lined them out carefully, because what they did was beautiful...exactly what I wanted!  Great job, great experience.  Thanks for listening, and for following through!

Steiner Saw Service has a friendly helpful staff - both the person I spoke with to schedule,and Glen, who supervised the work crew which cut the trees. They were very flexible and willing to work around my rather hectic schedule; also, to work within my budget. Did a fabulous job cutting 50+ year old trees that badly needed thinning, shaping, and cutting ( or the health and beauty of the tree, not just to keep branches off the power lines) . They chopped and stacked the waste and my city recycling of yard waste program picked it up. Front yard looks so much better ! I plan to get them back, later, to do the back yard.

How'd it go?  Better than we could have ever expected.  What impressed us from the beginning, was that when G came out for the consult, he spent more than an hour with us - teaching us about the trees, assessing the work, & helping us envision what the final result would look like.  His passion for caring for the trees was apparent and although we'd already talked to another recommended company, we knew we wanted Steiner on our job.
Now that the work has been done, the trees look absolutely amazing.  Due to the care shaping the hundreds of branches, each tree now has its own unique, beautified personality.  They no longer look like a sad, neglected over grown forest.  Thanks to G, they now stand tall, majestic, manicured.

Mr. Steiner returned my call immediately, and came by the next day.  He quoted a price of $385.00 for the entire job.  Three days later his crew performed the services.  Everything went very smoothly.
