Touchstone performed excellent work at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: I have had two slight pipe leaks under sinks recently with faucets that we installed ourselves. The first one we called another plumbing company that came and added some putty, was here for 20 minutes and charged me $120.00. When we dircovered a leak in a different faucet I called Touchstone. He was here when he said he would be here. He performed the same type of repair in the same amount of time as the previous contractor but only charged me for a service call $84.50, much more reasonable for the work done. I will be calling Touchstone for any future repairs to plumbing.

Touchstone provided excellent advice on fixing the tub leak, saving us from spending on unnecessary repairs and performed all work timely and professionally.
Description of Work: We bought an mid-70's vintage home in January that had been a rental. We found some leaks in the overflow drain for the bathtub, had the toilets resealed and a line run for an icemaker in the kitchen.

Touchstone started off as very promising. The receptionist was very friendly and interested in my problem. She asked me to fax a list of items that needed repairing, which I did the following day. A couple of business days later, a couple of their service men called and asked to meet us at the home to inspect the items listed. They were punctual and thorough. I did not get to meet them but my husband was very impressed and favored using them above the rest. They promised a follow up bid would be forth coming. Almost a week goes by and theirs is the only bid I had not received. I called them a couple of times in one day explaining this to them. So far, we have not heard from them and we have chosen another service company. What happened after such a promising start? I can only guess their service people don't like do do paper work. I don't know how they are for a small job but don't call if you need extensive work requiring a bid. I am surprised at the excellent rating they received.
Description of Work: My husband and I bought an old 1938 bungalow that we are remodeling for I rental income. I called Touchstone and a few other plumbers for the plumbing portion of the remodel that would be extensive and quite costly.

Mitch and Jose arrived on time and provided an estimate for the work. Mitch took a pressure reading on the system and we had about 100psig. He recommended pressure reducing valve in addition to the shutoff valve to reduce pressure to 65 psig. He explained about problems that occur with high pressures in the system. We had observed those problems in the past like numerous replacements of the toliet valves. Location of the shutoff valve was identified in the garage but the in addition to future water softening piping there was another line exposed that was not identified. This cause an addtional valve to be installed but no extra charge was incurred. Job was completed very nicely and it took about 2 hours total and would have taken be a couple of days.
Description of Work: Install owers main shutoff valve.

See notes above... Service, price, knowledge was all positive with Touchstone.
Description of Work: I had Touchstone come out to find and repair an outside leak from the main street line right after the water meter. They checked the sprinkler system too and worked efficiently to find and repair the problem while along the way offering advice on the water lines and system. In a world where good help is hard to find, my first experience with Angie's List and finding the right plumber at the right price (while also getting a discount) was a good one, no doubt. Thanks!

This is a rental property, so we were very concerned about getting the hot water heater repaired quickly. I called at 7:15 in the morning not expecting to get someone on the line. I was able to get a same day appointment, and they were even flexible to accomodate my work schedule. The tech was punctual and friendly. He inspected the unit, fixed some tubes and got it heating back up within 15 minutes. He stayed around a bit to make sure it would continue to work and heat. All in all it was a great experience. I have already recommended them to a friend. This is my 2nd time using Touchstone and it certainly won't be my last.

They found damaged pipe in brick wall and repaired it with minimal work to brick. Found that the pipe was set too deeply into the wall and extended it. They reseated the toilet that was leaking and replaced the seal. They also removed a minimal number of tiles in the shower to replace the hot and cold valves. None of the surrounding tiles were damaged, so the wall could be quickly repaired.
Description of Work: They came out and repaired a leaky toilet that involved replacing seal and fixed pipe in wall. Also, replaced tub valves.

Very good results. I've had trouble finding a good plumber but Touchstone (David was the individual) really came through. David was thorough, and always seemed to be looking for ways to cut my cost. Turned out that later I needed to ask them back to do additional work, at least they pointed out the possibilities for doing it on my own first.

Everything was great except my $170-$220 bid from the owner turned into a bill for $668.71! If I had been notified, I would have gotten another bid for the work, and had a handy man dig out the dirt instead of paying two plumbers a total of $150 per hour. After complaining, the office did call back and offered to split the labor bringing the total bill down to about $385. They agreed that I should have been notified about the changes. It was double what I was expecting, but it was a fair price based on the work that was done, and they did a good job.
Description of Work: Was asked to replace the pressure valve, which they did. However, it turned out the old valve had been covered by a couple feet of dirt so some digging was involved, and they decided to extend the pipe to make it easier to replace the next time. I was not there, but my tenant verified what was done.

It didn't as they couldn't keep an appointment or their word.
Description of Work: I tried. I really tried to use them. They said them would come the first day but cancelled saying they had a guy out and one at the doctor and asked to reschedule the next day. I agreed and left for a movie. They called me while I was in the movie and said they were on their way. I called back after the movie and they said they would come the next day and I would be their first appointment. I called the next morning at 7:30 and left a message on the machine asking them to confirm they were still coming since appointments start at 8. No return call. I called back at 8:30 and was told they were just now doing their schedules for the day and would call me back within 30 minutes. I didn't hear back until 10:30 when Keith called to say he was on his way. I told them I had already called someone else. I had, but didn't have an appointment with anyone yet, but they had already list my trust. No apology, no explanation, no "what can I do to fix it".

I called and got several bids (except Lanier which was non responsive). After I quizzed Touchstone about tapping into the 1" pipe running right behind the first furnace, he agreed that it would work and lowered his bid to under $800. I felt like the $1,495 and $1,665 bids for doing a 12 foot tap off of an existing 1" gas pipeline was OUTRAGEOUS. Even the $781 price still seemed a little on the high side. I was not there when they did the install or I would have questioned the install location of the new gas pipe line. I would call Touchstone again, but validate the fairness of the pricing first.
Description of Work: An older gentleman came out and gave me a higher estimate to tap into my existing 1.25" gas pipe line from the back wall where the pipe enters the house and run it to two new furnaces about 10' apart about 20 feet from the wall up in the attic. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the 1" gas pipe line to be tapped into was about 3' behind the first furnace.. I also had Lanier Plumbing come out and even after multiple calls (11/3, 11/5, 11/18, 11/21, 11/28, 12/2) asking for a quote, I never did get a formal quote. I wouldn't waste my time with Lanier! Custom Plumbing quoted me $1,495 from the back wall. Steve's Plumbing quoted me $1,665 from the existing attic pipe!. I am a new Angie's Member and my biggest complaint is that there is no useful analysis of the reasonableness of the vendors charges which is what I am trying to demonstrate here. My primary concern for tapping into the existing gas pipe in the attic was whether there was sufficient capacity to run all of the gas appliances if they were all pressed into service at the same time. I didn't experience any problems through our mild 2011/2012 winter. Touchstone tapped into the existing 1" gas pipeline and ran the extension of the pipeline not along the floor (as is typical) to the two furnaces as I expected but rather up and along the ceiling before dropping down to each furnace. Floor clearance was not an issue. They were prompt and on time. Except for them not running the extension on the floor of the attic as I had expected,

It all went great from the time I booked the appointment with Yolanda to the time they called to verify their arrival time on the day of the appointments. Great from start to finish.
Description of Work: This is my plumbing company of choice. I found them on Angie's list. I've used them several times for different problems. They've installed two hot water heaters in different houses, taken care of simple issues like leaky faucets and when the sewer job was too big for them, they recommended someone great to take care of it. Most recently they installed a new garbage disposal and fixed a leaky bathroom faucet. I trust them completely and appreciate their professionalism, caring attitude and responsiveness.

We set an appointment for a bid. We met with John, the company owner. He was very nice and helpful. We needed to move and install a new Hot Water Heater. We had already bought the heater, and all connection pipes. We were worried that some plumbers would only want to use their own supplies to maximize profit. They were fine with what we had. They had a large job and we needed to call the next week to set up the exact install date. While there was a little confusion about setting the date and time the next week, it all worked out fine. This was for an investment home we were preparing for rent, it seemed to add to the confusion that we didn't live there. I needed to set a time to show up. The day of the install Emmett called and said he was running late, and it would be another hour. While I appreciated the call, it was almost time for him to be there, and I was already at the home. It was just a little too short notice for the delay. This was only a problem since I didn't live at the location. Emmett was the actual plumber for the install. He was very nice, and helpful when I discussed plumbing for a possible water softener in the future. He worked quickly, and for the work to be done since it was a move, I felt we had a very reasonable install price. Home Depot would have charged the same for a simple replacement.
Description of Work: Run piping and install a new hot water heater. We were moving a hot water heater from inside the home to the garage so flooding couldn't be a problem.

I was not satisfied with their work. I had to ask them to come back twice, once for the toilet and again for the faucet. It looks like the toilet and faucet are fixed now. He gave us an estimate without first looking at the hardware to see if they would fit. I ended up with a big gap between the handle and the wall. If he would have looked at the pieces when he did the estimate, I feel I would not have had this problem. I probably will not use them again. They did come back when I called again. They were on time.
Description of Work: Touchstone Plumbing installed a toilet several months ago. The new toilet kept leaking at the bottom so they came back to install a new wax ring.

i told the story above overall, it went quite well . The only issue is i have still not received a bill so i dont actually know the final costs, which is worrisome
Description of Work: No hot water in master shower (2 heads) and in master tub. Identify problem and fix both. I was afraid that the master shower would require that he cut into the tiles; no, not necessary. Replaced parts in both shower heads and checked out both water heaters The one in the attic was turned off. Turning it on gave hot water to the tub. Had to order parts for the master shower heads. $280 worth of Kohler parts. Once parts came in, he returned to install. He left and still no hot water in shower. He returned and removed the lever that was inside to keep from being scalded and now i can take a very hot shower

I called Touchstone this afternoon about a clogged toilet. Their despatcher checked to see whether they could send a plumber today. Because they did not have good avaiability today, she referred me to Johnny Rooter who stated that they can come this afternoon. I am pleased that Touchstone referred me rather than string me along promising service that they were too busy to provide today.
