Touchstone Plumbing Inc

It was a very cold and blustery day outside. My wife noticed water bubbling up from our front garden in the morning. I called about 5 other outfits from this list who were not able to help me right away (disappointing) but Touchstone was able to make an appointment for the same day (in the afternoon). The dispatcher got some details from me, figured it would be a 2-person job and quoted me an hourly rate that included 1 plumber and 1 assistant (mainly to help with digging). The dispatcher called me a little while later and told me that they'd be sending over two plumbers but I could still pay the same hourly rate (usually you pay more for the plumber than the assistant, which makes sense). I was pleased with that. When the two gentlemen showed up, they worked well together. Despite the stinging cold, neither of them complained about it but I could not feel my hands! I had brought my outdoor dog inside because the weather was so bad but here we were standing out there fixing a water leak. Having the two plumbers was a great decision by Touchstone because they were working simultaneously on things and saved me time too. Only minor negatives (being picky here): 1) They wasted some time (15 minutes) looking for the leak when I had marked the location and told the dispatcher about it (I was at an appointment when they were due to arrive). 2) They did not take credit card payment (something about the office being old-school). 3) They did not clean up all the things they had used (forgivable since I was amazed they still had feeling in their hands after being out in that cold). The only reason I rated the price a "B" instead of an "A" is because I am a cheapskate. These guys were worth it, though.

I called to get an estimate for some bathroom remodeling. Touchstone called me back right away and set up an appointment for the following afternoon. The owner showed up right on time and was very nice, took a look, asked some questions and said he would write up an estimate. I never heard from them again. I even called after 2 weeks had passed to find out what happened, and they took my information and once again never called back. I scheduled the work with another plumbing service.

We were very surprised when Emmett managed to clean out gobs of hair and stuff that had accumulated at that angle. Per our request, he provided an estimate to re-plumb but explained he did not believe that it would be necessary work.

They were great. The workers were prompt and did exactly what I needed at the price they originally gave me in their estimate.

One thing I liked about this company was that the owner came out to size up the project. The area they were working in was a difficult one and I wanted to make sure they could do the job so I was glad when the owner came out to look. But I wasn't very pleased with the heater they put in for me. I got the more expensive water heater because it was supposed to work better but I found very little difference from the less expensive one. The workers were excellent. They were always on time except once and they called to let me know. The company itself was satisfying but the product was disappointing.

They were very nice. We wanted to buy the toilet ourselves and have them install it. They recommended a company to buy it from: Ferguson Enterprises on St. Elmo. Ferguson had an incredible showroom--I've never seen such beautiful fixtures! We got a great price from Ferguson's and we miscommunicated a bit about the contractor picking up the fixture, but they corrected the issue without a problem. They came out and installed the fixture quite promptly after Ferguson's got it in. We called them again to install a faucet. While they were there we asked about a problem with our shower. They fixed that on the spot. We asked about a drain that was making a weird noise. They checked it out and told us that was normal and that we didn't need to fix it.

David was the plumber who came to our home. He was friendly, professional and answered all of my questions thoroughly. He cleaned up any mess that was made and more importantly cleaned the area where the toilet was before he put it back in place. He also took any trash he created with him. We are very happy with the service received and would not hesitate to call this company (David) for any future repairs.

Fixed gas leak in chimney. The value deep inside the wall came dislodged and we weren't sure how much it was going to cost. It happened at night so I called for a plumber first thing in the morning. About 2 hours later the they arrived. We were expecting the worst but about 45 minutes after arriving the service rep Emmet had it repaired and was on his way. He was prompt, very nice and professional and we couldn't have been more relieved. I will definitely call them again.

My only issue is that when I called the company the receptionist never called back to give me a time that the plumber could be there. I called again the next day and she arranged for Emmett to be out there that afternoon.

The heater failed Sunday night. It had a huge amount of corrosion and needed to be replaced. They were able to visit and replace it by noon on Monday.

The appointment was scheduled just a couple of days after I called. He called before arriving and arrived on time. As he was working, he explained what was happening at each stage so I felt comfortable with what he was doing. He was efficient and courteous, and cleaned up the debris from cutting into the wall and taped over the hole in the ceiling so no dust would fall into the kitchen until we got it fixed.

I've used them before - the first time they were excellent. The second time, the new roman bath went well, the new water main valve took a long time, and the shower was a complete disaster. I literally had to have them visit 5 times to attempt to fix the shower. Each time they would say it is fixed, then of course it wasn't and was still dripping. Each time afterwords I had to call them over and over to come and look at it again. I probably called them easily 15 times - many if not most times they would take a message, tell me the plumber would call me back, and I'd never get a call. Even the owner came out to look at it, said he fixed it, but of course it still leaked, and he never called me back. I gave up. It is a Moen system with the Moentrol valves/cartridges. Not exactly difficult to fix. So I finally went online, looked up the parts, purchased the cartridge puller for $20, and a new cartridge (which I told them was the problem). Took me about 1/2 hour to do the job - pulled the "new" cartridge they had installed - only to find out the reason they couldn't get it fixed is that they installed the WRONG cartridge. They installed a 1225/1229 cartridge - and right in the easy-to-find online manual - it literally says MUST HAVE 11679 CARTRIDGE - 1225/29 WILL NOT WORK. There are two cartridges for a moentrol unit - the 1225/29 is the bottom cartridge - 11679 is the top... Thankfully I had read this before ordering - I popped in the RIGHT cartridge and the leaked stop. It was obvious - the 1225 didn't even seal and slid in and out with ease - it was too small for the opening. In any case - pretty frustrating. Everything else they did was done well, but it really seemed disrespectful to never call me back, and keep trying to tell me that there wasn't a leak.

I had some problems with scheduling and finally got the appointment set up. The woman in the office was not very helpful, but don't give up because the 2 gentlemen who actually came to do the work were great. The first appointment was scheduled for "morning" and I started calling Touchstone at noon to find out why the plumber was a no show. Turns out they had an emergency case but nobody in the office bothered to call me. In any case, any frustrations were worth it because the work was done quickly and efficiently, the price was fair and both plumbers were friendly, courteous and cleaned up after themselves.

First I asked him to inspect the fireplace for a possible gas leak. He checked all fittings and connections and determined there was no leak, which was accurate. But he advised me to call a fireplace specialist because there was a non-plumbing problem. I also asked him to install a new wax ring on a toilet and he took care of it promptly and ably.

Arrived on time, took about an hour to complete, price was as expected.

David from Touchstone arrived and within 1.5 hours, he replaced the old metal lines with the new flexible kind, reconnected the hot/cold lines to the the new faucet, and reinstalled the drain properly with no leaks. After fixing the bathroom sink, I asked him to take a look at our kitchen sink that had a continuous drip. He quickly diagnosed the problem and in less than 20 minutes replaced the cartridge. No leaks. David was quick, professional and friendly. Parts were approx $45(cartridge + new flexible water lines). Hourly rate was approx $89.50.

The repairman worked quickly and did a great job. The whole experience was easy and pain free. I would definitely recommend them.

My sewer line developed a hole in it that became visible in my yard, so I decided to get 3 quotes for the work to be done. The work: replace 130 feet of sewer line and install a p-trap into and vent the laundry line to bring it up to code. The person I spoke to on the phone was very pleasant and said someone would be out that afternoon to take a look and get me a quote, which they did. The quote was $6515; the company I ultimately chose, quoted me $3400.

Emmett came promptly and went straight to work. He replaced the leaking toilet flaps - one I didn't even know was leaking, but I asked him to check. Good thing, because when he took out the old one and showed me, it was clearly worn out. Bathtub faucet -he removed the screen and cleaned it thoroughly. He checked the bathroom sink that was draining slowly and agreed that it needed to be augured out. For good measure he checked the other sink drains to be sure they were fine too. He not only did what was asked, he checked additional items to ensure they were working properly, all without fuss or bother. Very nice and gentle person. Emmett is a real gentleman. Price was good, especially with the Angie's List 10% discount.

Emmett arrived on time. He was personable and listened well as we reviewed the list of repairs. After showing him a bag of parts I had purchased at the home improvement store, he explained that several of them, e.g. the gas valves, did not meet city code, but that he had most of the parts we'd need on the truck. After reviewing the work and shutting off the main supply valve, Emmett quickly demonstrated his expertise by repairing the tub drain and shower knob in a matter of minutes. He'd tackle the other projects over the next few hours, always answering my questions and earning my trust. I felt that Emmett was honest and experienced and someone I could trust to not take advantage of my lack of knowledge. When I called Yolanda to schedule the visit, I asked her to send her best plumber and she did. I'll definitely call Touchstone with my next plumbing need.

They were on time and very pleasant, and they fixed the problem quickly. It's been over a month and the faucet is still working great.

Although I had called Touchstone this morning and set up an appointment for their next available opening (2 days from now), Yolanda called in about an hour and said there had been a cancellation, so the plumber could come right away. David showed up in a few minutes and went right to work fixing one faucet. He was very professional and talked me through the whole process. When he gave me the bill, which was mostly the labor charge as is often the case with plumbing repairs, I asked if he would go ahead and change the other faucet while he was here. He said that probably wouldn't be a bad idea because of the age of the faucet, so he completed that work and then had to rewrite the entire bill. He also asked if there was anything else I'd like him to check out while he was here. There wasn't, but I appreciated his asking!

Extremely good service. Plumber was prompt and courteous, and noted that the fixtures he was fixing were getting on in years. When I informed him what a new set ran for (from Moen), he agreed with me that repair was a good option and said that he'd keep his eye out for a less expensive alternative and would call me if he saw one (that's service!). On his way out, I asked him a number of questions about a new hot water heater, and he eyeballed my current set-up and gave me some free (and helpful) advice about how to convert as inexpensively as possible. Overall, a very good service call. I recommend them highly.

Excellent experience all around - the leak was discovered by a neighbor in this house we were getting ready to put on the market to sell. Called them on Saturday and they were there Monday to repair. I didn't personally see as I was out of town and my wife was on site. She said all was A-OK and having imagined the repair was going to run up-wards of $1,000, I couldn't believe how reasonable the price was. I will definitely use this company in the future if needed.

Touchstone was a life-saving experience (almost; I was that upset at the damn thing). They took care of my problem, quickly and without fuss, and dealt with the shutoff valve I wasn't even thinking about. I will gladly use Touchstone again if I have plumbing issues. They have a customer for the rest of my life as long as I live here.
