Worked on the computer at some length, did thorough cleaning.  Seemed OK when done.  Problems reappeared later on, were eventually resolved.  Was several years ago, don't remember details.

They spent much more than an hour on it but only charged me for an hour. Bill and Luis were very professional and answered all my questions. Bill indicated that the PC did not have any known viruses on it when I left. However, when I returned home and tried to run virus scanner on it, the PC consistently had a BSOD. Not using PC until I evaluate options. Expect that at a minimum I'll reformat the HDD and have Windows reloaded. May end up just throwing the PC away since it could cost more than the $700 replacement cost to resolve the issue.
Bill did much more than he originally promised and he warned me that it could take a long time to find the issue. Bill was very responsive and willing to share information. He worked extremely hard to do the right thing and make sure that I did not have any issues when I left. Luis was very helpful as well in discussion that I had with him. Two great people. Too bad virus removal is such a nasty and uncertain business.

Called this morning before normal business hours. Luis responded almost immediately and told me that a technician would contact me. David contacted me within a couple of hours and was on-site by noon. Brought everything with him that he might need, got to work and had us up and running very quickly. While he was there, he took a look at a couple of other issues my husband was having with his computer, fixed a couple and told us when he couldn't fix one of the issues (old computer - not really an issue for us). He was very fair and didn't charge for the time spent on the unresolved issue. I would highly recommend using this company and will do so again in the future.

A several year old laptop computer would not boot up, and the limited tricks I knew did not alleviate the problem.  I called the Critical Update after looking at their rating and reviews on Angie's List and then looking at their website.  I gave them a call at nearly 5:00 PM, hoping they were still open.  I left a message when there was no answer.  Within 20 minutes I got a call back and an appointment time was set up for the next morning at their place of business.
The technician, Shawn(sp?) was very helpful and upbeat concerning my problems.  He tackled the critical task of saving as much data off the drive as possible - he recovered everything I needed.  He then set about trying to diagnose the problems and see if there was any fix that could be expediently accomplished.  He was very knowledgeable and very efficient trying various utilities and procedures to try to get the machine to boot.  He eventually used another machine with my suspect drive as a secondary drive and eventually got it to respond; it continued to work when reinstalled in my laptop.  The overall diagnosis is that the HDD is probably staring to fail, and it would be a good idea to get a new drive.
Shawn was very helpful and informative as we waited for various attempts at recovery to run their course.  He answered all my questions about computers in general, hard drives, and gave opinions as to possible causes for some other computer problems I was having on other machines.
At the end, Luis, the owner showed up, and he was also very friendly and concerned with the solution to my problem.
All in all, I was very pleased with the response and work done by the Critical Update folks, and with all the effort being done at a more than fair price.  I will definitely return there if/when I have computer issues.

Very knowledgable and professional and fast.  I would use them again.  I was not so pleased to find out that these folks only work M-F 8-5pm which does not help me a lot since I work the same hours.  But I trust them and will work around that issue.

The Tech arrived promptly.  He cleared up files and issues on the PC.  Made suggestions.  After he left, there was one issue (can't remember) that I had forgotten to tell him.  He worked on my computer remotely and that went very well.

Overall the experience was a good one and the price right. When the appointment times were set up Luis or Jim were there. Jim was delayed on the last visit but called ahead so we were able to set up a time later that day. We all have busy lives and I really appreciate it when I get called because of some type of delay that is beyond their control.

I found this company on Angie's list and I'm so glad I did! We had a small but pesky problem trying to work with a specific software -- several people worked on it, including other professionals, with no luck. Critical Update folks were prompt in first emailing a suggested solution and then solving it remotely while we were on the phone with them. I appreciate their positive, professional attitude, their very competitive hourly pricing, and their flexibility in pro-rating for less than 1 hour's work.

We had other companies try to fix our wireless printing network but it would always recur.  This time the work was completed in the alloted time and the printing problem no longer exists.  Seven months later there are still no problems.
