I searched everywhere and could find very little information on putting in a whole new septic system. Finally, Terry Hansen's name popped up as a leading installer in the Westlake area. My terrain is similar to the Westlake area so I was pleased to find someone who knows the soil and rock problems and the importance of not damaging the large old live oak trees I have on my property. He brought a valuable personal knowledge to the project that only over 20 years of experience in the Austin hill country could have given him. Terry owns his business and does all the work with the help of long time employees. He was personally on the job and operating the big equipment himself and involved at every important phase of the work. The thing I liked the most about Terry is his committment to doing a first rate job. He wants things done right. He has pride in what he is doing. I was willing to pay $1500 more than the next closest bid I got because I was convinced after talking to Terry that he was worth the extra money for the expertise he brought to the project and I do not regret it for a moment. He did a beautiful job and my old live oaks are thriving. The only caveat I have is you will have to be patient with Terry, finishing on time. But he is worth it. If one of his customers has a problem, that becomes an emergency he will take time off your job which isn't an emergency. Whatever he's doing he's going to do a good job that pleases you. He even built a new door when replacing my old fence. Terry will only do the mandatory inspections on the installations that he has done. He knows he does a good job and doesn't want to deal with someone's else's possible mistakes. I had always disliked the idea of a septic rather than sewer. Now, with the new aerobic septic systems I am actually thrilled to have a septic system! It doesn't have any odor and it reuses the water that you use every day. There is no need to water the septic field unless you are out of town. The sewers in my neighborhood stink when you walk by, as do the old septic fields. And the city still has to treat the sewage at great cost. I am cleaning my own waste and watering my yard. Wow, that''s really green!
