I also used their service later. All their people are professional and friendly.
"Thank you so much for the review. It's good that we also found the other leaking pipe so we could fix them both at the same time. Again, thank you for your kind words. We are happy to help."
In order to fully diagnose the problem they of course had to pump out the system which their tech did cleanly and efficiently. He was then able to diagnose the problem - our pump had died and the float switch that we had paid another company to install less than a year earlier was done incorrectly - which actually led to the death of our pump (the float switch controls when the pump comes on and off - get the wrong kind installed incorrectly and your pump is endlessly cycling on and off - which shortens the life of the expensive pump dramatically.
The tech talked me through the problems and showed me all of the parts that were done incorrectly - including having wiring for the pump down in system vs having in outside of the system in a water tight box like it should have been. He promised to return later in the day with a new pump and install it. I was a little nervous as he drove away - but crossed my fingers that he would return like he said he would.
Sure enough later in the afternoon he reappeared. During the time he was gone they had pulled the original plans for our septic system with the city and discovered that the pump that we had been using was woefully inadequate for the system - so a previous owner of our house had had some repairs/new pump put in and it was the wrong one and undersized to serve the needs of our system. Mind you we have had 2 other septic systems out and had an inspection when we first moved in and no one bothered to check to see if the pump was the right one....until SOS figured it out.
He brought the new pump, and installed it. He brought the correct float switch and installed it. He then moved all of the wiring out of the holding tank where it never should have been and moved it into its own water tight box next to the holding tank. He cleaned up everything and was incredibly polite and knowledgeable during the entire time he was on our property. I really liked the tech and will definitely be hiring SOS for any future septic needs as a result.
To contrast this great service with SOS with our last 2 septic companies- the first company we had out last year came late, did the pumping and said we had a bad float switch. Installed a new switch (which as it turns out was the wrong type of our system and eventually cost us the pump!). The second company we had out about 6 months later said we had a wiring problem and refused to do anything with wiring and made rude comments like "I smell money" when he opened up the septic system. Ugh! SOS was on time, clean, neat, polite and very efficient. Really no comparison!!!
"[member name removed], we appreciate your kind words. We are happy to have been able to help. Should anything else come up, just give us a call. Thanks again."
"We appreciate your comments, and appreciate being able to help. Most folks don't realize that periodic service is needed on all septic systems to keep them in top operating condition. We're happy we were able to save your system, and now to help you keep it running. Thanks again for your kind words."
"[member name removed]: Certainly I'm disappointed to hear that you are dissatisfied with your experience. I'm more disappointed, however, that your review doesn't actually tell the whole story, and that your review even incorrectly describes what we did and the recommendations we made. If you didn't fully understand what we did, what we recommended, and why, which it's clear you didn't, the more positive action would have been to call and ask us to re-explain everything until you fully understood. If in fact you understood everything we did, and if you understood that the recommendations we made were made with the intention of saving you thousands of dollars, your review would no doubt have been very different. After the holiday, please give us a call so we can help you to better understand everything that was done and why, everything we recommended and why, and the other more expensive option we could have recommended to you that would have cost you thousands of dollars more than what we did recommend."
I just cancelled my maintenance agreement with the competitor and will be using Snowden exclusively going forward!
"Thank you, [member name removed], for your kind words. Your compliment was passed to our technician, and it really made his day. It is our collective pleasure to have been able to help."
"Thank you for review. We are happy to have been able to help you."
"Thank you for your feedback. It was a pleasure being of service to you."
"Hi, [Removed Member name]. It's been about two and a half years since our last service, and as the saying goes, "No news is good news". Should you have any problems, however, please give us a call since preventive services always cost less than repairs. Thanks so much for the kind comments in your review. We are happy to be able to help."
"OUR RECORDS SHOW OUR INVOLVEMENT ON THIS SITE OCCURRED BETWEEN MARCH 18TH AND MARCH 24TH, 2008. WE CAN NOT IMAGINE THE REASON FOR THIS REPORT BEING FILED 8 MONTHS LATER. THE DESIGNER ON THEIR JOB CAME TO THEM FROM US. WE KNOW THIS BECAUSE THE DESIGNER SPOKE TO US DURING HIS INVOLVEMENT TO ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS. IT IS TRUE WE ELECTED TO NOT BID ON THE INSTALLATION OF THE SYSTEM THEY GOT DESIGNED, SO PERHAPS THAT'S WHERE THEY GET THE FEELING WE DID NOT FOLLOW UP WITH THEM. IT SHOULD BE EXPECTED ONE WOULD RECEIVE NEARLY NOTHING BUT NEGATIVE COMMENTS FROM COMPETITORS IN THE SAME INDUSTRY. BEYOND QUESTIONING THE VALIDITY OF COMMENTS FROM A THIRD PARTY, PARTICULARLY COMPETITORS, WE QUESTION WHETHER IT IS EVEN APPROPRIATE TO REPORT OR POST SUCH COMMENTS."
"SOS HAS A PUBLIC WRITTEN STATEMENT OF OUR "SATISFACTION GUARANTEED" POLICY, AND ONE CAN SEE A COPY OF IT ON OUR WEBSITE. IF A CUSTOMER HAS CONCERNS OR QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR SERVICES, WE ARE HAPPY TO ADDRESS THOSE. THE REASON FOR THIS PUBLIC STATEMENT IS TO SHOW THAT ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS INFORM US OF THEIR DISSATISFACTION, AND WE WILL GO TO WORK TO RESOLVE THE MATTER. WE HAVE EXTENSIVE RECORDS ON OUR ACTIVITIES ON EVERY CUSTOMER'S SITE, INCLUDING CORRESPONDENCE. WHILE WE HAVE A VARIETY OF CORRESPONDENCE IN THIS CUSTOMER'S FILE, WE HAVE NO CORRESPONDENCE EXPRESSING DISSATISFACTION ABOUT THIS SERVICE. IT IS UNDERSTANDABLY DISAPPOINTING TO ONLY HEAR OF THIS DISSATISFACTION OVER A YEAR LATER, IN THIS PUBLIC FORUM. AS TO THE FACTS SURROUNDING THIS REPORT, WE CAN OFFER THE FOLLOWING: THIS CUSTOMER SOUGHT US OUT IN 2004 MAKING LARGELY THE SAME COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEIR PREVIOUS SERVICE PROVIDER. WE HAVE RECORDS OF RECOMMENDATIONS AND REQUESTS WE MADE FROM 2004 THROUGH 2008 THAT STILL TO THIS DATE HAVE NOT BEEN FOLLOWED. THE SERVICE IN QUESTION WAS A DIAGNOSIS OF THE CAUSE(S) OF REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH HER SYSTEM. IF SHE HAD REASON TO BELIEVE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS INCORRECT, AND SHE HAD CONTACTED US ABOUT IT, WE WOULD CLEARLY HAVE COME BACK TO VERIFY OUR WORK. IF WE WERE IN ERROR, WE WOULD HAVE MADE IT RIGHT LIKE WE ALWAYS DO. CONDITIONS WILL NOT BE THE SAME TODAY AS THEY WERE A YEAR AGO, SO AT THIS LATE DATE WE DO NOT SEE WHAT WE CAN DO FOR THIS CUSTOMER."
"WE NO RECORD OF A SERVICE CALL FROM THIS MEMBER. AFTER GOING THROUGH SOME SEARCHES, WE FOUND THAT SHE MAY LIVE AT AN ADDRESS FROM WHICH WE DID RECEIVE A SERVICE CALL, BUT NOT FROM HER. OUR RECORDS SHOW ON THIS SERVICE CALL IS DATED 10/5/2006, WITH A NOTE SAYING THAT AS OF 10/17/2006 WE HAD NOT HEARD BACK FROM THE HOMEOWNER SO THE SERVICE ORDER AND INVOICE WAS CLOSED WITHOUT CHARGE. IT APPEARS TO US THAT WE THOUGHT WE SHOULD BE GETTING A CALL FROM THE HOMEOWNER TELLING US WHAT WAS TO HAPPEN NEXT. WHILE DID DISPATCH A TRUCK AND TECHNICIAN TO THE SITE AS REQUESTED, AND WE DID ATTEMPT TO FIND THE TANK(S), BUT WE DID NOT BILL ANYTHING FOR OUR TIME AND EFFORTS. AT THIS DATE ALL WE CAN DO IS OFFER OUR APOLOGY IF IT TURNS OUT WE MISUNDERSTOOD WHAT WAS BEING EXPECTED OF US."
