Smart Air is the best! I started out a novice on HVAC systems and after 4-5 days of online research and with the help of my Smart Air Rep., I was much better informed and confident that I chose the best contractor, brand, and specific size unit, etc. for me. Staton Mayfield, my Smart Air Rep. was instrumental in helping me through the process. We stayed in touch and he answered all my questions at every stage, starting with the initial bid proposal, going over every detail of the system to be installed, including financial arrangements, checking on the system as it was being installed and then after installation to make sure it was working right, and then assisting me with the rebate paperwork. He was always courteous and helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Staton was prompt for our first appt. and came prepared with essential information on the American Standard systems they install, including SEER rating, size, 1 stage and 2 stage systems, price, etc. His was the second bid I received and it was less expensive (for the same system) by $543. (I did research some other companies, and found one or two that might be good, but at that point I had an idea of what I needed based on HVAC websites and comments online and didn't see the need to research more companies since I felt confident with Smart Air.) Staton also offered some specials for work ordered in December/January, even if actually installed after that. I was definitely glad to get their special 10 year labor warranty (instead of 3 years) because I chose them in January. In sum, I am very happy with Smart Air and my new HVAC system. Staton took care of my questions and concerns every step of the way. I am now a life-long customer and I recommend him and Smart Air overwhelmingly for any AC or Heating-related job.

Shane couldn't figure it out immediately, but after some research, discovered a unusual design flaw in the model that I have, and installed a fix. I appreciated his perseverance.

These guys are always superlative. Our AC was not cooling correctly. I called at 2:15 on a Friday afternoon. The serviceman was here within an hour. Spent 45 minutes diagnosing system. Discovered it was an improperly installed filter, by me, and dirt accumulation on the coils. He cleaned the whole system inside. Fitted the proper filter and ordered 2 additional for me. Vacuumed where he walked in our home especially at attic pulldown. He left at 4:30 and only charged us $75 for diagnosis. Said the other costs were minimal. This is VERY typical of their service and why I only use them.

Oh God, of course it'd be July that our AC chose to crap out. Smart Air came out and took a look at it for us, trying first to fix our very old system so we could get through the summer. The guy they sent worked for a while before discovering a pretty massive leak and telling us we probably needed to replace the coil. We debated this a while before deciding to bite the bullet and purchase a more efficient system. The soonest they could get in to install the new system was a few weeks down the road; the hope was that our old busted system would hold out until then. But when the old system died on us, Smart Air rearranged their schedules to get to us sooner so we wouldn't have to get through the hottest part of the summer sans AC (apologies to anyone who had their service pushed back because of me, but seriously, I was so grateful). They got the job done and then showed me the finer points of the machine. So far we've been very happy and it's definitely brought our energy costs down.

The whole process went quite well. The go who came out was very knowledgeable and determined the problem very quickly. He even called the A/C company and found out the part was under warranty. He made a short term patch to resolve the leak and replaced the missing coolant to keep the house comfortable while waiting for the part. They called me two days later and made an appointment for the next day to install the defective valve. They showed up during their service window and kept me updated throughout the whole process. My only complaint is that the first call took an hour and cost $300 in labor. The 2nd call took 2 hours and cost $600. $300/hr? Do yourself a favor and find a coupon on Angie's List. A/C repair isn't rocket science.

Smart Air was able to come check out my nonfunctioning AC within a few hours of me calling them, even on a busy summer day. The service person that came to my house was very professional and knowledgeable. Of course my AC was working fine when he showed up but he gave me a lot of advice about what to look for if it screwed up again, and told me that if I called them back within 30 days they wouldn't charge me another service fee. I felt that the price they charge for a service call was probably a tad higher than average, but I'd definitely call them again with any future problems.

Great from start to finish. Found Smart Air on Yelp since they had not been rated on Angies List. Smart Air is the highest rated HVAC company on Yelp and should be on Angies. They repaired a minor problem on our existing system within 3 hours of our call. It was literally repaired in 15 minutes at a reasonable charge. Shane Bryant was asked to quote on my HVAC for our complete home renovation which included foaming the entire home including the attic ceiling. This would effectively seal the entire home and significantly reduce our energy usage and cost. After 3 other HVAC companies had quoted, Shane was the first one to point out the special caution of placing a gas furnace and water heater into a foamed, sealed space. Not one of the others even mentioned a potential deadly CO2 ventilation issue. The City of Austin Energy Dept. confirmed a gas furnace or water heater needed to be specially vented in a foamed home. Even with a very sophisticated engineering design (hanging attic unit from rafters to eliminate vibration and hum when unit is operating, air exchange venting), Smart Air was the lowest bid. Since the house is foamed, Shane showed via software that our home would only require a single HVAC unit instead of 2 as everyone else had bid. The City of Austin Energy Dept. again supported Shane's design with their analysis. Obviously, this saved quite a bit of money. The home construction is not complete but our general contractor is VERY impressed with Smart Air as well. They were professional from beginning to end and helped insure we had the proper system. A neighbor of ours chose them for a complete replacement and are equally pleased. Our home is complete now and the HVAC is faultless. You cannot hear or feel it run except for the quiet conditioned air exiting the vents. Smart Air has been back twice to check on operation in cold weather and fix a "problem" that we didn't know existed. Simply put, they were unhappy with part of the installation and returned to do it to their satisfaction. This is a well run, conscientious group of people who we cannot recommend highly enough.

I went back and forth over the phone and by email with Suzanne to arrange to have Smart Air come in right after we purchased our home. She came out first to look over the house and give me an estimate. Because it's 18 yrs old, I knew it needed work, and an energy audit by the previous owner had confirmed as much. Suzanne came out the next time in the morning with 2 others, and they knocked it out in a day. They were here the whole day. She's great at explaining what's working and what's not, and her suggestions mirrored the audit nearly to a T, and unlike another company I contacted, she did not want the energy audit. She wanted to do her own work without being biased by another report. They did a great job, and I really appreciated her manner and hard-working ethic. I called again last week about a problem with one of my units, and they explained that they couldn't get here right away but recommended another company to come out. A much better solution than to have a customer wait, right?
