After purchasing a new (but older) home, we contacted Precision Heating and Air for an estimate on a new HVAC unit and a possible relocation of the unit into our attic. To their credit, Precision was able to send someone out the same day and their employee arrived on time. We explained the nature of our plans and the services for which we would like an estimate. Although relocating an HVAC unit (and related ductwork) is clearly a more involved job than a simple repair or replacement, the representative seemed befuddled and overwhelmed. We were surprised by this, given the range of good reviews for this company on this site and others. Our biggest disappointment was the way in which the representative handled the interaction. Rather than offer to bring someone else out who could talk with us about our needs and requests, he called his boss to see what he should tell us and then said, "Yeah, I think we'll pass on this job." We were displeased with the lack of professionalism and what his statements seemed to convey. If the job was too complex for this particular employee, it might have been more customer friendly to offer to send someone else out or to refer us contractors who might be willing to complete the work (HVAC unit relocation happens all the time). Why not offer to send his boss out to evaluate the job himself? Granted, the employee did acknowledge that he was worried that he wouldn't be able to do the job in a way that ensured our unit would function correctly, but his response of "we'll pass" just didn't seem appropriate or professional.

Joe arrived on time, and he performed all the necessary services for my HVAC system. When he found an issue, he explained it to me so I could decide a course of action. He found that the AC evaporator coil was defective and leaking freon. He added freon and provided me with an estimate for the evaporator replacement. Because I had purchased the annual maintenance contract, I received a 10% discount on parts and services. Fortunately, I was able to get my builder's HVAC contractor to replace the evaporator unit under warranty, so I did not have to have Precision replace it. He also found that one of the capacitors on the AC condenser unit was bad. He had the part on the truck, so he was able to replace that same day. Joe was very thorough and professional, and I feel like I received the service I had paid for. The only concern I had was the price to replace the capacitor. However, when Joe left, I had a working AC system ready for the Austin, TX summer heat.

This transaction went smoothly, and I definitely plan to deal with Precision Heating & Air in the future. The dealer representative, Joe Strazza, listened carefully to our needs and designed a new energy-efficient system to meet those needs, giving us a couple of additional options for our consideration. Installation went smoothly and professionally (the installers even vacuumed when they were finished!). Nick came out a couple days later to fine tune the system, and Joe answered a follow-up question regarding a rebate within an hour or two via email. I couldn?t have asked for better service.
