There were complicated directions to rear of apartment building to load furniture. The day before the move I faxed a map, photo and directions to North Star, but they did not give the info to the driver. As a result, we wasted 45 minutes trying to locate the truck and get it to the right place. To their credit, they did not charge us for the delay time. The crew, led by Dave Ledesman, could not have been nicer and worked very quickly. Dave was careful to explain what they were doing at every step. They packed clothes, furniture, art and dishes and glassware very efficiently. The only glitch was an antique mirror which I told them was very fragile. They convinced me that it would be safe without being packed in a box, but just sandwiched between two folded flat boxes. During the 5-mile drive to the storage unit, some of the decorative pieces fell off the mirror and broke. It can be repaired, but it will not be the same. I take some responsibility for letting them talk me into the poor packing, but they should have known better. Since they were more than fair about their time (did not take a lunch break for more than 7-hour job) I did not file a complaint. They did a great job of organizing the furniture into a 10X15 storage unit with room to spare. All in all, a very nice three-man crew and a good job.
UPDATE: After reading my review North Star called me and asked me to submit a claim for the damaged mirror and e-mailed me a claim form. Amazing service! I will get an estimate for the repairs and submit it. They also pointed out that their faxes do not arrive at a fax machine in their office, but go into a fax queue on their computer system, so if you are going to fax something, you need to call and alert them to go into the computer and retrieve it...that is why the info never got to the driver. They were at out home early, which we liked. Once they started the job, they moved quickly so it helps to have everything that's boxed ready to go and stuff that needs boxing to be in another area (out of the way so they're not slowed down).
