Keith, the owner, came by to provide an estimate to trim several large oaks. They would not be available to provide services for 3 weeks, but we made an appointment with them anyway. We decided all of our other landscaping plans could wait on this service, based on the rave reviews they have on angie's list. The day of the appointment, no one showed up. No one called. I left messages at 1:00pm and again at 2:30. My phone calls were not returned until 5:30pm. Apparently, they weren't going to be able to make it out. The landscaping work scheduled to begin 2 days later would either have to be postponed or the tree work could be rescheduled for 2 weeks later. We were very disappointed with the lack of communication and neglect. They wasted a significant amount of our time.

They came and did a great job. We were very happy and pleased with them. They did a beautiful job. The dead branches on the trees had never been trimmed. We recently bought this house. I don?t think the people who owned it before us had anything done. We weren?t really happy with the way the trees looked. That?s why we did this. They did a terrific job and there were several guys working here. They were up on the trees and it was a one day job, which was great. It looks a lot better. They were very professional. We were very happy with the job they did and how they were. It was a very good experience. My husband interviewed people before he chose the company who would do the trees. He picked the company he thought was the best. It was very important to us that the trees looked good. The price that we paid them was worth for what they did. They were here on time. They were very knowledgeable about trees too. We liked the result very much. There were some guys sent over to work on the trees in our previous house and I couldn?t even watch them since it was awful. They obviously didn?t know what they were doing and even I knew they didn?t know what they were doing. We would definitely use Austin Tree Experts in the future too.

I trust Austin Trees so much that I allow them to do work on my trees when I am not present. This is saying a great deal. You can't glue limbs back on! The work was done very well, and the price was as we agreed. With Austin Trees as my partner, these trees will bring joy to many for years to come.

The whole tree trimming process went better than we could have hoped. I had been putting it off because I thought the cost would have been exorbitant, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was upfront with Keith, the owner about having a budget, and he shocked me by telling me that the trees didn't need a lot of fussing. He offered some suggestions to support the health of the trees, and it coincided perfectly with what we had in mind. Keith was so knowledgeable and took the time to answer my questions in great detail. I really felt like I got a great education during his visit. The crew was polite, efficient, and cleaned up really well. I had a little trouble scheduling after Keith came to quote Apparently, some paperwork lost in the system, but it was just a small delay and then everything was taken care of just fine. I didn't want to trust our trees, something that adds so much value to our property, to just anyone. I felt like Austin Tree Experts were professional, knowledgeable, and a good value. We'll definitely use them again.

Fabulous work, particularly with a large ash. Prices seemed a bit on the high side (I was quoted $900 to remove two large trees in the front of the property. This work is still pending.) There were some hiccups in arranging the appointment (lost/missent emails). Once service was scheduled, everything was very prompt. Bill was sent electronically but web based payment service does not work.

This was my second experience with Austin Tree Experts, and as before, they did a wonderful job. I trust their arborist, Micah Burns, to help me make appropriate decisions about where and how much to trim. The crew worked diligently, cleaned the yard well afterward, and hauled all the trimmings away. I highly recommend this company.

We've used this company several times. We have many trees -- mostly oaks, and need pruning/maintenance done every year. Austin Tree Experts have proven to be reliable, professional and trustworthy. They come out in advance to discuss your needs, and give an accurate estimate of costs. They know trees, and have always offered good advice, without any "up-selling." The work is always excellent. They always leave the yard clean and free of debris. The trees look great when they've finished the work. I highly recommend this company!

I had a little trouble explaining what I want, but the people were very nice and very responsive and we got it worked out. They came when they said they would, trimmed the trees and cut a tree down. They didn't have enough room to remove all the debris the afternoon they were here, but first thing the next morning, they came back and took it all away.

Overall, it was fantastic. Micah came over and gave a very detailed description of what needed to be done and what was a nice to have but not necessary. We did have a minor blip with the scheduling due to Hermine (it was a hectic time and they were very apologetic) and the online billing system caused me some grief, but they were very professional and acted quickly to correct the situation. We will definitely use them again, as the results were great and the team left the yard very clean from all the activity.

They promptly sent an arborist over. They did not take responsibility for causing the oak to fall. Their claim was they did not use the branch in any way to attach ropes. However, it is common to rope branches to higher limbs to let them down slowly. The arborist claimed the tree had mold and then used the weather as explanation for the coincidence. It did rain but I was out in the rain (grilling with an umbrella) and there were no strong winds. Sorry but the evidence points to them pulling down the trunk of an oak and they would not consider the possibility that it was their fault. They have a great customer interface but some bad decisions made during the job. My opinion, they aren't as good as their rating.

Micah Burns, a Certified Arborist, came out to meet with us. He carefully listened to what we wanted and made suggestions that were quite good. Overall, I called and they set a time to come out and give an estimate. Micah came on the agreed date and at the promised time. They set up a date met it as promised. The crew was fast and left the property as neat as they found it. We did have to wait about two weeks for the service. It was definitely worth the wait. The price was the best we have ever had for tree trimming. We will definitely use them again.

After I called for an estimate, It took them two days to call me back, and when they did, they said they would send an arborist four days later to give me an estimate. Three days after the arborist was to have come, I called the company to ask about my estimate. The woman who answered the phone said she would call me right back....six hours later, she called to tell me that no one had been to my house, but she would make sure it was taken care of that same day. I still have not had anyone at my house nor have I heard another word from them. They may do a good job once they finally get to your house, but it seems crazy to have to work so hard to give a company money. I'm going to look elsewhere and don't plan to ever bother with this company again.

Absolutely outstanding service! From the moment Keith arrived - on time - it was a very smooth operation. Adrian, in the office, was very professional, as well, as she scheduled the service and followed up with a reminder call. Austin Tree Experts website made the whole experience easy as the proposal, scheduled date, invoice, and payment was all completed over the internet. Keith came with the crew the first morning and we all toured the yard and he explained in detail to his team leader what need to be done. The crew obviously knew what they were doing and they were very careful not to disturb bird or squirrels' nests. I would recommend (and have) Austin Tree Experts to anybody that wants expert advice and expert work on their trees. This was the best experience I've ever had with with a service organization!

Professional, knowledgeable estimate. Excellent, attentive service. This was actually a pretty big jump that required a 4 man crew 3 days to clear the trees. The crew leader was very good. The root aeration was handled by a younger man who was fairly knowledgeable, but a supervisor and the owner made numerous visits to the work site to insure that things were being done well. The aeration took 2-3 days and needed to be redone as the walls of the aeration were too steep. This work was actually recommended and assured when the owner made one of his visits to the work site to inspect the work. When all of the work was done, the yard was clear, the trees looked great and if it wasn't for the missing dead trees and the clean look of the trees in my backyard you wouldn't have known any work had bee performed!!

Micah, the arborist, evaluated my trees and gave me an estimate for the work we discussed. He answered all my questions, even those unrelated to the work at hand. Although the crew did not arrive on the appointment date, I received a phone call and explanation prior to their scheduled arrival time. The crew arrived on time on the rescheduled date. They were courteous and skilled. Afterwards, the crew removed the "trimmings" and the dead branches that had fallen prior to their arrival. A few days afer the work was done, the office called to check my satisfaction level prior to submitting the final bill.

Austin Tree Experts arrived promptly as scheduled and trimmed the branches of several trees away from my 2nd story roof and chimney. They trimmed the trees exactly as I asked and immediately removed all the debris so that there was absolutely no trace of their having been there except for a substantially clearer roofline. I will definitely seek their services in the future.

Overall they did a very good job. The three guys who actually did the work were somewhat sullen and cheerless, but I hired them to get the tree work done and they did that with efficiency and without damaging buildings with falling limbs. They also cut up some of the tree as fireplace logs as I requested and stacked them neatly.

We were very pleased with the work that was done. We couldn't believe that the price for trimming 8 trees was at 1/5th of the cost that neighbors spent on just ONE tree with another company!! I was also impressed at how quickly they cleaned up all of the refuse!! My neighbor on the other side is now planning to call them out for service!

I just cannot bear for those oak worms to denude my beautiful tress of their leaves. I have a standing order with Keith to spray my tress at the first sign of those worms! I have complete faith that the will do their usual excellent job, and they did!

On the day of service, the pruning crew arrived promptly. They rang the doorbell to let me know they had arrived and would be starting. They immediately set to work, climbing the trees, pruning the branches, and carrying them out. All the cuts are clean. All the pruned wood was hauled away. The three trees looked refreshed and clean and healthy. I am just thrilled with the quality of their work! I recommend Austin Tree Experts to all my friends, and will definitely call them again!

INITIAL VISIT FOR ESTIMATE: The main focus was planning for tree trimming and basic clean-up of large cedar elms. He also inspected a hollow trunk and suspicious damaged locations that had concerned me. Micah pointed out some concealed evidence of a healed but weak "trunk split" on one elm that could spell trouble in the long term and I would never have noticed it. And even though it was very late afternoon and Micah had another estimate to do, he answered all of my questions about individual trees and long-term shade strategy and maintenance. He surely must have been tired after a long day doing estimates but he showed no sense of haste or trying to rush to his next job. I really needed the expertise and on-site inspection of a tree expert and that is what I got. I knew from my research that Austin Tree Experts has several of the very few CERTIFIED EXPERTS on trees in the city of Austin. (And even the lady who handled my phone calls and initial questions has a botany degree and knows what she is talking about.) Frankly, having a professional arborist who KNOWS local tree species and conditions and who could spend so much time and care inspecting my trees was in and of itself worth much of the eventual price. There are SO MANY "tree trimmers" out there who hardly know what they are doing -- and they know very little about tree diseases, disorders, pests, and up-to-date solutions. (I've found plenty of such amateur "tree people" all over the country where I have owned properties and it saddens me that the real professionals and experts have to bid against the low-ballers who can do a lot of damage to trees.) Indeed, I didn't bother getting any other estimates -- and that's atypical for me when hiring other kinds of services -- because no other company in Austin seemed to come close to their credentials and I wouldn't have felt right about using Austin Tree Experts' consulting services during a free estimate and not hiring them for the work itself. And nobody should complain about bad service in this town if you are not willing to PAY FOR THE TRUE PROFESSIONALS. One of the things that impressed me about the estimate process is that Micah didn't try to push any of the high-profit services that a lot of "tree experts" try to sell to every customer, such as multiple liquid fertilizer injections or unnecessary root aerations. In my case I thought that an autumn fertilizing might be beneficial but Micah told me that cedar elms of this age were better off left as is so as not to disturb the beneficial soil organisms that would already be well established in my better-than-average soil type. I always have a lot of respect for professionals who are willing to leave money on the table instead of recommending unnecessary work. So if you get an estimate from Micah and he tells you that your trees need fertilizer or special procedures, I would have trust in his recommendation that you genuinely need that type of work. MAIN JOB: I scheduled the tree trimming work for about two weeks later. The crew arrived promptly on time and it took them about five hours. Those three guys worked hard and worked continuously. When they first arrived I asked them if I needed to move all of my flower pots and planters and the main supervisor said, "Oh, no. We will take care of everything for you and make sure that your property is protected." And they truly did. That surprised me because I expected to be told that for liability purposes they couldn't touch any of my property. They did all of that moving-around work for me. They placed everything vulnerable on my porch where it wouldn't get hit by any falling limbs. It was clear that all of the crewmen were experienced and used minimal effort in using their ropes and saws to work through the entire grove of trees. I didn't see any of the clumsiness of tree crews who scuff and damage bark and live branches by mistakes and missteps. I didn't hear any of the snaps, cracks, and wrenching sounds of limbs being forced to the ground. These were clean, well-executed cuts by professionals. My trees were in the process of budding into their second week of leafing out and I didn't want to see a lot of lost new growth this season because of rough treatment. But they were efficient climbers and rapellers and I've seen bigger crews take an entire day to do what took them just five hours. In my experience, crews who work in a fast, smooth, and efficient manner tend to know what they are doing. SUMMARY: They did excellent work at a very reasonable price and as far as I'm concerned I got an hour's worth of valuable consultation by a professional arborist at no extra cost. They hauled away all of the brush and debris and my lawns were very clean when they left. (And although I wouldn't have objected to on-site chipping/shredding of the felled branches, it was nice that they didn't make a lot of noise by running a grinder/chipper while my night-shift wife was sleeping.) I have little doubt that you could easily find somebody who would do your tree trimming work for a lower bid -- but considering how important shade trees are to a home's energy efficiency and the assessed value of my property, I consider tree services an INVESTMENT rather than an expense. I was relieved to find that the damaged areas and potential disease symptoms on my trees were more minor than I thought. But now I know and I couldn't have had that confidence with untrained tree trimmers who no know nothing of the science involved. I hope Austin residents will keep a company like Austin Tree Experts in business so that I can know that they will still be around the next time I need them. Austin doesn't have many certified arborists so it is essential that we keep such professionals busy.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the service I received from the Austin Tree Expert Crew. The arborist, Micah, came out and talked to me about the types of trees I had and gave me his professional opinion on how they should be trimmed - They basically just needed to be thinned out from the years of growth - The crew did a great job and the job performed is exactly what I envisioned. I wouldn't hesitate using or recommending Austin Tree Experts in the future.
